This is exactly what I needed. I didn’t believe in myself but after following this video I realized how much more I can accomplish than I think. With the time limit I don’t overthink and just do the body parts. Thank you sm for this!!!
This is so cool. Been trying to do these 2, 5 and 10 mins drawing and boy it’s fun but I still struggle with the 2 mins one. It helps a lot seeing how you work with them. I’m gonna try doing this when the video is over. Thanks!!
Amazing practice session😊 Did all the gesture drwings with you with 10B,the result is just awesome..its like pushing ourself and improving our rapid sketching and most importantly the observation power👌👏🏻👏🏻😊
This made me realize I'm pushing myself too hard, just started trying this with 60 second limit, on a website that immediately changes the pictures at the 60 seconds I'll gather some pictures myself and time them manually, start at 2 minutes like you did, lowering it gradually. Thank you for the guidance!
When we started doing doing 30 sec drawings, I gave up on the second and just watched you draw 😅. But seriously, this video has been helpful for me and alot of other people as shown in the comments, I've learnt that gesture drawing isn't about precision, it's about learning how the body works. I'm gonna share this to my friend who's also having trouble with poses👍

this was incredibly helpful; thanks! one of my drawing classes jumped into gesture drawing day one with no examples and i felt very unprepared. my teacher just kept telling us to move fast and make big, long lines, but i like this slower, deliberate, form-focused approach a lot better.
Omg the faster it got, the more anxiety I had watching it hahaha. Thank you for making this video, super helpful and funny. Now it's time for me to attempt it lol..
After some long search i found this video very useful. I could actually sketch along with the video but at my own pace. Atleast im happy i learnt the tricks to an extent. Thankyou !
Was looking for reference photos the other day and one of the photos I ended up drawing on was the exact same one used in the thumbnail, what a coincidence! Guess that’s my sign to watch this video lol.
Very helpful video! I first thought gesture drawing was tricky and daunting but after watching you do this and trying it myself it’s actually quite easy, it’s especially helpful with picture references thanks alot !
It's interesting how looseness is what makes the drawing. I keep seeing people say its the way you hold the pencil but I feel like that is very wrong. I have a very small space making drawing with my entire arm very hard and almost impossible but after watching this video it shows that looseness is the key to making good gestures overall. bravo!
I recommend drawing from a variety of teachers! By all means check out others as well. Not sure what qualifies as a professional but i teach for a living so I guess that's professional.

Vere muchas poses, gracias por la ayuda.
Thanks for asking and I'm glad you want them to work with. Hmmmm. Not sure I will make time to set that up as I already take to long just in making the videos. But you can find tons of reference on Pinterest if you look for it and a lot of images on Artstation for sale.
Thanks. You know I usually just save the images as I find them because I use then for more of a work thing. My boards are filled with Star Wars, comics and miniature stuff.
As far as the drawing process goes I would start with gesture drawing but learning anatomy is great! I would not stop learning Anatomy as it is one of the next steps in the drawing process after gesture.
Well in this approach gesture drawing is the first step. I would say just go for it and don't worry too much. Practice more and watch multiple people. You might pick something up from somewhere that might help you break through a rut.
It's to get practice drawing human figures in various dynamic positions, and also sometimes for creating a layout sketch to figure out composition before either adding details or using it to plan a larger piece of art. Quick figure drawings like this are a really nice exercise for learning how to portray a recognizable figure with very little time and few details.
@@nikitanikita6155 Yes I do! There are websites that have poses for reference (like quickposes.com) and sometimes I will spend like 20 minutes just filling up a page of my sketchbook with drawings. I spend about 2 minutes on each one. I like it because there is no pressure to try to create perfect, finished pieces, so it is almost like a meditation for me. I am not a great artist by all means, but when I feel like I want to make some art but have no inspiration I will do figure drawings. Of course this might not be very fun for you, but it is a common exercise that many people do, and the point of it is that it is supposed to be very fast and roughly sketched so it doesn't take up too much of your day.
@@empirebuckler9938 Don't know, it's really difficult for me to draw anything without having a story. For my inspiration I usually research and come up some ideas and draw only whats needed for that concept. Does this figure drawing practice improve your drawing from imagination in some way? And do you develop these sketches or just leave them?

Yes. To warm up. Kind of like exercising, start slow then speed up.

These seem to have a lot of details for a gesture drawing. More like a figure sketch instead of a gesture drawing .
Yeah it kind of is.I agree. Maybe it's just the way I do it. More of a structure for a more complete drawing.
