    My favorite part of this video is when you mentioned that it doesn’t have to start off perfect and that our clients love to be a part of watching us grow.

    This video was so informative and inspiring! I’ve been at a salon for almost 5 years now and still don’t feel like I can create in the capacity of my dreams while working for someone else’s. I am so nervous to go out on my own but in light of recent circumstances I have found the right push to pursue my own happiness! I know I am successful and talented enough to successfully go out on my own. I let fear hold me back! So excited to start my new adventure!! ❤️

It would also be helpful to have a split screen on your left so you can list in bullet form on a sheet the points you make. Hi, love watching u, I’ve been doing hair dressing for over 20 years now, and decided to rent a chair, which I have a good clientele base. Would my own salon now, nothing to big, sooo nervous about it as I don’t know where to start, I do have dyslexia so when it comes to thinking of starting I’m finding it pretty scary, I want to get a business loan but need a business plan. I love what I do and love my clients, family and friends keep telling me to go for it, I’m 50 years of age now and I feel I really do have to give it a go xx

    Hey from an expat living overseas in El Salvador for now. I’m a stylist with an instructor license in VA and I am also a teacher/professor expert in Second Language Acquisition. I’ve had a salon/spa for four years and we (mate and myself) are considering moving back to the States and starting my own salon and/or academy (geared towards empowering young minority girls to find their passion in our art). To start back up in the States I’m thinking that I need to start with something like this! Love your videos, I’ve just found you today and I’m binge watching!! How can I get in contact with you for more guidance? Thinking of NY, Philly or Washington DC

    I’ve been doing here for 30 years the best advice is to booth rent for at least five years before even thinking about owning a salon. And working alone is a benefit but it’s also a negative because you really stop learning from other stylist around you and that’s how you can grow as well. Seattle is not a difficult place to find a shop for storefront availability I have a storefront spot in a hot neighborhood in the city. Get a business partner or take management classes, many stylus forget that there is a lot more to only the salon than just kidding behind the chair there’s a ton of business that goes along with it which they turned out to be really good at the recommend education in that direction before even thinking about opening a salon

    I'm having a hard time buying expensive equipment that I can't feel or touch before buying such as a mag light. I need the magnifier for waxing & such, but I also need a ring light for lighting and it gotta be on wheels! I want high quality & I'm willing to invest if I jus had a few more options. Amazon doesn't always work out & I don't have the patience or money to try it, buy it & return! Ugh, don't get me started on how Corona has made it even more difficult. We haven't had any Hair/Cosmo shows in like 2 yrs.

  • @Karatsukino

    I want to start a studio salon. I like the idea of being independent and using products that I stand by. The only thing that holds me back is the money it takes to start it up and keep it running and my lack of clientele. Dispite that my goal by the end of this year is to be an independent stylist with a booked schedule. It seems impossible right now...but I really want to be my own boss and not be at the mercy of someone else who could fire me for not being "productive" (I work in a corporate salon). It's hard when you move somewhere new and you're trying to build clientele and have management dangling your job in front of you with threats of letting you go because you don't have enough clients in your seat, yet they aren't giving you the hours to be more accommodating to clients. 😨😱

    • @LaurenFrancesHair
      @LaurenFrancesHair  4 роки тому +2

    I'd love to know the difference between sole proprietor vs LLC in the studio salon world. I'm leasing a space to turn into a studio salon so I'm starting from the ground up. Also, do you have a separate business account or do you use your personal banking account? I don't want to pay unnecessary fees, but I like the idea of separateness. Thank you!

    • @LaurenFrancesHair
      @LaurenFrancesHair  4 роки тому +8

      Sorry I didn’t see this one! In my opinion and llc isn’t necessary if it is just you. It basically separates your business assets from your personal. Llc is more paperwork and sometimes fees. What a limited liability does is protect your personal assets in the event of a lawsuit or creditors coming after you. The responsibility is on the business and not you the individual.
      As far as your accounts go! I would definitely keep it separate so you can easily look at your earnings and spending. I actually like to use 1 credit card for all business spending and pay it off immediately (i never actually use credit or money i don’t have. I just use it to keep everything in one place and the rewards are a nice perk) with my business checking. ❤️

    The idea of working around a bunch of my competition sounds awful! 😭❤️ My boyfriend really wants to send me to beauty school after I just cut my hair this last time. Layers with a V in the back and some choppy face framing- I’ve been growing my hair out for 15 years and cutting/trimming it myself basically my entire life. One reason aside from the money that I’m afraid to go, is the pressure I already get from my peers to change my hair/let THEM do my hair. 😓
