  • In 2019, the Don Hanson Charitable Foundation donated "Hanson Boxes" to 10,000 schools across the UK and the UK Overseas Territories.
Each "Hanson Box" (named after the philanthropist Don Hanson), contains a wonderful range of specially-designed educational resources.
Over 4 million students attend the schools to which the Hanson Boxes were sent, and it is hoped that these free resources will help educators inspire their students' interests in learning and understanding the world around them.
Each Hanson Box contains the following items:
    - Amazing Pets and How to Keep Them (book)
    - Spectacular Plants and How to Grow Them (book)
    - Britain's Distant Lands (book)
    - A seed kit from the Royal Horticultural Society to grow seeds of the sensitive plant, Mimosa pudica.
    - A map of the UK Overseas Territories
    - A DVD with films about the UK Overseas Territories
    - An offer for free stick insect eggs (on request), through partnership with the Amateur Entomologist's Society.
    - 14 Amazing Pets films, and 14 Spectacular Plants films.
Plus a cover letter explaining the box and the project.
The 10,000 Hanson Boxes comprised over 120 pallets of the above resources, representing over 50 tonnes of items that were gifted to the schools!
