- Bryan Sutton performs Robert Schumann's Nachtstucke 4 (Night Pieces) Op.23, Movement (Round, with solo voices) during a concert held at Carter Vintage Instruments in Nashville TN on 8/28/2014. The guitar featured is Bourgeois Custom 0 with Brazilian Rosewood. The video was captured by Joshua Black Wilkins
And just when I think I'm progressing on the guitar, along comes something like this Bryan Sutton masterpiece and suddenly I'm grounded once again. That was simply amazing playing by Bryan and the Bourgeois sounded awesome.
Bourgeois guitars are becoming more and more intriguing. What a perfectly voiced instrument for this beautiful piece of music. Bryan Sutton you are a virtuoso.
A very nice sounding guitar, doesn't hurt to have Bryan Sutton playing it either.
Dana Bourgeois, a modern day Stradivarius.
This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard played on acoustic guitar, his musicallity is just inprecedented... WOW!
At least two popular "tunes" are stolen from this Schumann's pieces - "Love me tender" and "Can't help falling in love with you". On a different note: B. Sutton is top of the tops.
Years ago on a Homespun instruction video Bryan mentioned that he had studied classical guitar. Sounds like he remembers quite a bit. It's good to know that steel strings work for classical guitar music, in the right hands and on a superb instrument.
even though he's playing a classical piece he is not playing classical guitar. He is using flatpicking technique.
@@jfar3340 If you're saying classical guitar music can't be played with a flatpick, Tony Smotherman would beg to differ. He has recorded arrangements of classical guitar music
on what appears to be a classical guitar using a flatpick.
@@franksabatino7576 yes and bill leavitt wrote a whole book on classical pieces arrangement for platpickers. It doesn't make it ''classical guitar''. You're playing classical music with a flatpick, but you're not playing ''classical guitar''
Classical guitar is not just playing classical music on a nylon string guitar, it's a distinct artform and technique in itself.
@@jfar3340 I suspect that your definition of classical guitar is too narrow.
@@franksabatino7576 I suspect that I have the right definition having played classical guitar for years and now playing mostly jazz/blues and bluegrass. Classical guitar does not mean playing classical music arrangements on the guitar, with non classical technique, and if that's what you think then you're just wrong sorry. Andrew York played sunburst on a steel string acoustic, and its 100% classical guitar, because it's played in the classical way even though its on a steel string. It's about technique, tone and approach. You simply can't play classical guitar with a pick.
Outstanding knowledge and use of the fingerboard on that beautiful Bourgeois. Great job Mr. Sutton.
This is so nice. This interpretation of a classic theme has soul. And, I must say, Bryans fiddle tunes have as much soul and a great sound. Like...
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you for the Schumann!
That was sweet and peaceful. Wonderfully played. To me, that is the sound that makes a guitar such a special instrument. I am fortunate to have an OMC, a standard for Dana and it has inspired me to play more and better.
Outstanding! Thank you so much, Bryan and Dana!
Extremely beautiful.
Very nice!
He is such a great player.
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you. Wonderful.
Impeccable
Damn, is this his arrangement? Amazing!
wow!

Is that an aged tone top on this guitar?
