Just discovered your channel, this review is hilarious! I don't know how you got the lid of the box to slam shut on your hand, but the timing was perfection. And destroying the pen case was brilliant. Obviously a stunning pen, congratulations. Looking forward to more videos.
Nice looking pen, especially in the coral, much too finicky for my liking, but everyone has their taste. Congratulations on getting one though, maybe want to reach out to them and see about getting the pen case restored.
Back in the 50s Parker did something similar, but the pen (model 61) didn’t need tons of accessories to fill it. If it’s supposed to be a traveller’s pen, special pass-through only to take up some ink doesn’t make sense at all… No need to say, Parker’s capillary system turned out to be too difficult to maintain and they had to quit making it. In my opinion, situation here is similar. Maybe this won’t have maintenance issues - all needed tools are in a box after all - but calling it “traveller” is not very accurate.
$5000 ish anniversary pen set, starts off by twisting the pen pouch to heck. Hilarious! Good job. They should have constructed it better, is my take. Nothing a bit of gorilla glue can't fix! Cheers!
@@unboxingmontblanc4956 interesting that they are the regular colours. MB seems to change the ink packaging in small ways about every two years, i wonder if they plan to move all the ink to 50ml bottles?
@@donaldgoerig6171 i wish that was true. i think the availability is the same, the only region-exclusives i have seen are one in green for the Gulf states, and one made from a legendary pine in Japan. And a lot of the limited edition stuff is not on display, and sold directly to patrons. I would bet if you go to a store and they have high-end limited editions on display from a few years back, and you are not in Dubai or Hamburg the store is not doing too well, and has a hard time moving them.
I must be honest. I adore the 149. It is a true masterpiece and defined a whole segment of luxury pens. But this is a joke. I feel like I got ripped off by Montblanc just from watching the video. I can not imagine how you feel. Absolutly everything about this pen feels like a money grab.
Was this a comedy video? He’s first banging the pen in an obnoxious manner, then wrecking the pen case, further calling the tools this “thing” repeatedly, and finally stating “this isn’t a cheap pen”. 😂
I saw this last week @ boutique and it truly is an awful product. The demonstrator they had would not write at all. The whole box is cleaning supplies for this convoluted filling. The price isn't so bad @ $5K if it wasn't junk.
Montblanc really did not think it through in its product development with launching this idiotic product which cost x4 a normal 149 with x4 the effort in operating, maintaining and cleaning it. This does not make logical sense. Customers know this and will not be taken for granted. Far too many parts to fiddle with and they will be worn out or lost over time, making the pen redundant. Good luck with that!
I have a lot of fountain pens. My Mont Blancs have been the only make I have had to send back for repair due to poor manufacturing. I will never buy a Mont Blanc product again and your pen case should never have done that. Not embarrassing for you but for Mont Blanc.
I've been lucky I guess, but of all the pens I have, the Montblancs are the most reliable. All my Namiki Nippons have had issues with their surfaces, most Lamy nibs have too much play, and the Pelikans are hard to flush. I always go back to the 149.

I have my fun, good to know others laugh with me!
Once upon a time it was a beautiful pen pouch 😂
Congrats on your purchase.
Interestingly, this is one of the only 3 colors, Montblanc has ever made the 149 besides black. Congratulations!
I know this is off topic for the video but does anyone know when will the flex 146 be back in stock?
I wonder if they are keeping this filling mechanism just for this edition. Or if they'll do other variants.
The first part of the thick
manual is how to fill the pen. The second part is how to repair the pen pouch..

Another puzzling release from MB as part of the 100th anniversary. I applaud the concept, but question the execution.
OMG RIP pen pouch haha. Beautiful pen though!
This is like buying a car and getting a factory, car wash and gas station with it.
Im sure one day they will sell it as a "fountain pen system", where the accessories will be sold separately .

Well, how IS the pen pouch suppose to open if not like that???
If you take the pen out of the plastic bag we could see the pen and the nib, not just the accessories and the box.
I'm getting a 149 next week. I want that filling mechanism! My local store has some coming.
No you don't
Thanks for the new video! :)
what size are those ink bottles? 30mm like the smaller limited colours from a few years ago?
my mistake, they are 50ml bottles, just like the ones that come with limited edition inks

Why didn't you get the demonstrator? This doesn't let you see the way the pen works.
The demonstrator is not for sale.
I suspect the clear resin will develop too many faults for them to ever sell demonstrators, sad to say. I really want it.
I think it's beautiful but the filling mechanism is silly and not worth it. Love the box too
I thought the pen pouch was screwed... Oh, wait, it is.
Also would love to see a video inside your Montblanc store
What store? one shop is the same as the next, unless you go to the 2 or 3 flagship stores in Germany or Dubai.
@@unboxingmontblanc4956 We don't see the same items you do in Asia. Much nicer selection!

Seems loike too complicated of a filling system. I like to dip the nib, turn the piston on the convertor and start writing.

prices have gone up everywhere, and can't expect the same quality at the same price, but a 3-fold increase in price is a bit much over 5-10 years.

well when the tip is dry, ink won't flow so well, so the idea of filling from the back is not great unless the nib has been prepared.

most people buy it for the sake of collecting, so they won’t worry about these issues, the pen itself will be kept sealed for a long while 😂
Just flic your Bic!
