Singaporeans are actually pretty shy like in Japan, culture-wise. We don't smile or greet one another if we don't already know each other, and we don't strike up conversations with strangers - it's probably considered weird, and it would put people on their guard if it happens without a basis for conversation. However, we are very friendly to tourists and people from overseas, especially those who we can tell appreciate our culture. That's probably why you get a lot of love from us locals. It comes from being a small country in the big world stage, so we're really flattered to be recognised/appreciated.
I've lived in pasir ris for 40yrs already...back then there were no houses, no roads, only dirt paths and kampung houses...it has changed so much in 40yrs and i still love it here
Hi Ghib, great content! you know more about Singapore than i do! i have lived in pasir ris for my entire life and walk through the fishing pond and park everyday without appreciating the sights and sounds. thank you for highlighting and reminding me the beauty of pasir ris!
Its great to see u receiving so much love from Singapore. Also do a visit to Jurong! It shld be interesting since most singaporeans always tease about the west side being really far
I live near the Api Api River in Pasir Ris... Something unique that not many ppl in Singapore can experience.. It's always nice to walk along it in the morning... Glad you are finally exploring Pasir Ris... Maybe going on a bike in the future for your trips, get GoPro mounts ready haha. (I have many of those delicious looking chickens living right in the tree under my block)
The Lau ban tou hua is the "modern" version of beancurd, it is more like a pudding with added vanilla flavour. If you are interested to try the traditional beancurd, you can consider getting some beancurd at Beancurd City (shop is along Jalan Besar) if you happen to be in the area, remember to order the hot beancurd. I have eaten traditional beancurd in many places (Hong Kong, Malaysia, Macau, etc), but so far, this shop is the favourite one.
Another great video in exploring Singapore. You'll definitely need to visit these places more than once to actually experience the area. You have not touched the west side of Singapore that much yet either so lots more videos haha! Keep it up!
Did the JTB buses bring you here. Proud to know that you, the Japanese students are learning the Malay Language in Malaysia. Rajin pelajar...Nippon, land of the rising sun. Arikato!
Thank you for showing me all these places , I stayed in Singapore but most of the places I've yet to visit. I will now take myself to places you've been & explore 👍✨✨✨
Ojisan, that birdwatch tower is one of the most haunted places in Singapore. I dare you to visit and video the watch tower again on a thursday night. haha
Pasir Ris underwent an upgrade at White Sands area few years back. They have Pasir Ris Park, Downtown East and the chalets nearby. You should also take a bus to Changi Village Hawker Centre and there's also a ferry to Pulau Ubin nearby. But the boat will only leave once its full or you can pay more to leave earlier Pasir Ris is also known for the NS people to take a ferry to Tekong At 11:07 one of those is known to be haunted (Been a long time since I went there so not sure of there's more than 1)
Hey Ghib, you know more and see more of Singapore than I do as a local. You put me to shame, haha...! Thank you for creating these interesting videos. I really enjoy watching them through the lenses and perspectives of a Japanese. And you are able to share your observations in fluent, concise and clear English! Very impressive.
Hi, I stay in Pasir Ris. The glass bottles you saw at the park are meant to create a pathway for people playing woodball. Sometimes, I see the elderly folks play it during the weekends. Apparently, there is a woodball association club in Sg. Where will you be heading to next, may I ask? :)
Wendy, you should say "I live in Pasir Ris ..." instead of "I stay ...". Stay refers to a short and temporary situation. It's a common mistake among Singaporeans.
I'm a true blue Singaporeans but I love to strike up conversations with complete strangers, especially foreigners. I am just so proud to be a Singapore and love to anyone who is visiting Singapore for the first time.
Been living in Pasir Ris for like 25 years and although it's far from town, it's quite a peaceful place to live in and yes the nature is great. At pasir ris park you can often see different kinds of birds. Now's the end of the migratory season though, last month I saw bunch of hornbills and one of them was chilling out on a tree at the fishing pond. I've seen small crocodiles a couple of times before in the small river at the park. Otters and monitor lizards too, pretty cool in a city. On weekends there's a lot more activity so it's a different atmosphere. You should check out Changi Village (which also has a nice seaside boardwalk besides the food). Together with Ubin you will probably film an entire day and need to do a two-part video. As for wild chickens... you'll be even more amazed if you go to the small park around Pinnacle @ Duxton, you can find a whole family of them there! You'll also see a lot of them in the Botanic Gardens, which is another amazing place to visit if you like nature and greenery.
Hi!! You can should go to Downtown East next time. Its just 1 busstop away from the bus interchange or u can take shuttle bus from the pick up point, outside whitesand thats opposite Gongcha where u just bought. Downtown East has more food options, shopping( esp uniqlo), and entertainment like cinema / arcade. Also its a place where most of our youngsters love to hang out with family or friends! :)
Ghib, I think you should visit Pulau Ubin or the Southern Islands if you haven’t! It’s definitely different from everything else that we have in Singapore!
