Oh dear! The attap house you shot at 6:11 was my grandpa & grandma's house where they built themselves & lived there since before wartime. My grandpa was well-known on the island among the first old generation that time. My mum was born & grown up there. It also contained most of my childhood fond memories. But the house was sold many years ago. There are durian trees still growing in front & behind the house. They were there since my grandpa's time.We used to pick the dropped durians during early wee hours for own consumption & it was very fun. There used to be rambutan & mangosteen trees grown left & right on each side of the house but now they were gone. My grandpa even kept his own chicken coop(quite big) on left of the house & reared live chickens that time.We could get fresh eggs every morning from there. There is a well on the ground level. I went there last year. Amazingly, the well was the same old well existing there for many old decades, providing cool refreshing water. Every time, we had to climb up and down to the well to get fresh water. This video brought back my memories. It is interesting to know how you explore & feel about this beautiful island.
This video really shook me to the core, making me realize how easy it is to make assumptions and judge things by its cover. Thank you Ghib for always showing the real colours of Singapore through your videos! I think it’s time for you to have leg days in your home gym after the kayaking 😂
The kayaking experience was wonderful, if it didn't rain it would be a normal one. The UA-cam god is on your side to make it a freezing experience lol! Very well made video, lots of work done for this one, a lot of background work definitely to make it this smooth. Good job to you and your wife for filming all the footages.
During the Japanese occupation, my ancestors who lived on Pulau Ubin had good relationship with the Japanese officers. When they surrendered, they gave my great grandfather their samurais and land ownership letter as souvenirs. Sadly, after my grandfather passed away, our Kampong house was demolished by the Singaporean Government and most of our items were taken away. Sad that my family who were on the island for 8 generations, since 1884, have nothing left on the island.
This was a really nice and chill vlog! haha cant help but smile when you and your wife just played some small games as you guys kill time! It just seems like those small moments to add an important memory to the trip!!
Hi Ghib, I had been a "silent subscriber" of your channel for quite a while now. Now, this episode makes me want to say you are awesome, a great sport, and the whole video is such an adventure!!! Super happy to see this on a Sunday while going through my study materials for a course I am taking. Thank you and your team for making these (and other) videos that have different themes, informative and great fun to watch on this tiny island. Cool. 😃 From Andrew Choy
I have seen lots of Ubin clips in UA-cam. This is the best clip. I enjoyed watching the tour, the farm, old houses, etc. Well done, hope to see more clips from you. I am too used to urban life, muddy ground and mosquito makes me uncomfortable.
Well done! This is one of the best videos. The last time I went to Pulau Ubin was during my secondary school npcc camp in 1985. My hubby and I watched every single video you made while having breakfast. We really enjoyed watching it.
Watching this video while you and your wife are in London, I presume, if you have not gone to your next location. Love the padding segment despite the heavy rain, it looks fun to you, would love to try it out. Cheers!
its always a heartwarming thing to see someone from another land who loves Singapore for what it is , i have a Japanese friend who became a Singapore Citizen a few years back
Great video! I have been wanting to visit palau Ubin so this video comes at a perfect time ! Love how rustic it is .. so different from modern Singapore .
Miss this little island we took for granted. Thanks for the video which gave us a latest glimpse of the areas from your lens. Really can feel the fun you have had with your wife.🤗
stubled on you a few times and your videos are really good. i can really feel your passion and how you immerse yourself in the environment you're in with a carefree personality. keep it up man! just subscribed :)
Hey ghib i must say, your recent edits reminds me very much of CNA insider, especially with the narrations and how you cut into each scene. Loving the professionalism and keep up the awesome content!
Such an interesting video of P Ubin! I didn't know this island is so idyllic and charming, and it's at our doorstep! Ghib must have done a lot of background work to produce a video of this standard.👍👍
I can foresee Pulau Ubin being developed into a hipster attraction in the future, like South Korea's nami island. Can consider planting trumpet trees to have a 'tropical cherry blossom' season. Enjoyable for locals and tourist
GHIB - we have to make a trip to Pulau Ubin 's CHEK JAWA ( must book in advance ) and the Island rock called FROG ISLAND ( Pulau Seduku ) close to it. Perhaps my brother Henry and Jason ( from Day in the life of a retired Singaporean video ) can Windsurf from Constant Wind Changi to Pulau Ubin around half an hour to join us. My good old friend can show us some rare migratory birds. Chinese Egret feeding at Chek Jawa - Roger Boey. This video brings me tons of memories - as a secondary school kid, I was with the SCOUTS who stayed at THE UBIN OUTWARD BOUND SCHOOL
Hi GHIB !!! CONGRATS to you and yr wife for such a wonderful video - so fortunate you can get permission from one of yr viewers to film the 100 yr old Village House with attap roofs, well water and solar lights. The farm visit was also superb - I have not seen this orange spiny GAC fruit for tenths of years !. ( GAC - Wikipedia ). Friend told me this fruit has poor shelf live. So lucky both of you were not " attacked "by WILD BOARS going after your lunch pack of Nasi Lemak or other snacks. I was in Pulau Ubin 6 months ago - missed the Chinese Villager who the Wild Boars listens to when he persuaded them to fall asleep.
That gac fruit! Never thought I’d see that tree in Singapore. It’s native to Vietnam and it tastes great in sticky rice and gives the rice a bright red/orange colour.
CSC brings back a lot of my childhood memories. My parents will go play jackpot and leave me at the arcade room which is heaven for me! only 20 ct per game almost 25 yrs ago. Great editing for this video.
Really enjoyed this video! Need to go visit again at some point! The mountain you saw at CSC is Bukit Belungkor near Tanjung Belungkor, Johor. It's also visible from parts of Pasir Ris Park too :)
As a kampung boy in the past myself, actually Pulau Ubin is like a small city to me haha. My Kampung didn't even has proper road. The bridge is also using 2 big bamboo and tied together :D.
Thank you. I lived in Singapore for many years but never made it to that island. When we come to visit this Winter ,we will check it out.Seems like the Singapore of the early 1900's.
We were lucky to visit about ten years ago. We didn't have a map so didn't see all the interesting places and our bikes were not too good so hire from a good vendor. It was a wonderful day and cycling helped keep us cool. The farmer is so lucky and in my opinion, the richest Singaporean to be around such beauty and growing his produce.
Fun fact to Ghib - There is a designated parcel of land between Ubin and Changi Beach by NEA for the purpose of Sea Burial. :D Occassionaly in the morning you will see family carry photo of their loved one and boarding the boat out to the designated area to lower the bag of ashes into the ocean.
Sometimes I'll walk to the beach at Pasir Ris and admire Pulau Ubin from there. I've never been to Pulau Ubin and I dont think I ever will. I dont think I'm strong enough to cycle around the island. At most I can walk around the vicinity of the jetty and that is gonna be boring😃. Thanks Ghib for uploading this video.👍
“My buttock small you know, small one”. Wow must be kinda scary to kayak in those choppy waves while drizzling! Glad you enjoyed ur pulau ubin exploration.
I haven't been to Pulau Ubin in awhile! But it's a definitely a beautiful spot to de-stress and escape from the city life in SG. Please do Kusu Island next Ojisan!🥺🙏
I been there before this place is really good to relax and hiking around..your video is awsome and give complete informations to viewers keep vlooging have a nice day ahead
What time does the boats at Changi Point Ferry Terminal depart to Ubin and What time does the boat arrived at Ubin to pickup passengers back to Changi Point Terminal ?? Is there any Taxis at Ubin and how much is the taxi fare to other places and if passenger want the taxi pick-up him at the places where the location the passenger is, how to contact the taxi drivers ??

There are actually quite a few farms in sg. You can explore Kranji countryside! There's a big vegetable farm called bollywood veggies.
This video has shot so beautifully, it is one of the best scenery Of Pulau Ubin I have seen, thumbs up!
