dont worry putin is printing roubles with his russian reserve fund is all used up and the russian budget is in deficit. but you are not smart enough to realize what that does to inflation and what its gonna do to the russian economy just like it did to the soviet economy in 1990.

also western artillery shells are accurate, but russia needs to fire 200 soviet shells to hit a target. its why you see those pock marked fields of russia trying to hit a target using 200 shells.

The Russian military claims one victory after another, advancing in different directions on the Ukrainian fronts. On May 4, Russian servicemen raised the flag of the Russian Federation in the village of Kotlyarovka in the Kupyansk direction in the Kharkiv region. The settlement was captured by servicemen of the Russian 1st Tank Army. Units of the 47th Division broke through several lines of defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine two days ago. According to preliminary reports, Russian forces are completing the mop up operation in the area.
The village of Kotlyarovka is located south of Kislovka, where Russian forces have gained a foothold in the eastern part of the settlement. The battles are already ongoing 23 kilometers from Kharkiv.
The Russian Ministry of Defense is expected to declare the full control of Kotlyarovka in the coming days, after the area of the settlement is secured.
Ukrainian servicemen are fleeing from their military positions under the heavy Russian artillery shelling and massive airstrikes, despite the orders of the Ukrainian military command to fight to the last. Kiev is trying to call its defeats the necessary ‘tactical regrouping of forces’ and ‘taking prepared positions for defense’.
When Chasiv Yar falls, Russian Forces can use this elevated position to hit a string of nearby Ukrainian military cities: Kostyantynivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. They are home to tens of thousands of civilians as well as to many servicemen. The future of Ukraine’s Donbas region seems increasingly bleak.
According to Cherniak (captain in the Ukrainian National Guard), the Russian army adapted after 2022, stepping up drone production. The Russians now have “two or three times” more first-person-view drones, which they fly continually, including at night. That meant supplying frontline positions and rotating troops was harder, he said.
The Russian military has destroyed at least two more American-made M1A1 SA Abrams main battle tanks of Kiev forces while advancing to the northwest of the city of Avdeevka in the Donetsk direction.
Video footage showing the destruction of the first tank surfaced online on May 2. The tank was hidden under trees, still it was detected by the Russian military and targeted with a Lancet loitering munition. The strike set the tank’s engine and fuel tank on fire.
The second tank was destroyed on May 4 while taking part in a failed counterattack. It was reportedly targeted with a Kranspol prison-guided artillery shell. A video showing the tank receiving a direct hit and another showing it on fire were posted to social networks.
A recent report by The Associated Press revealed that Kiev forces withdrew all Abrams tanks from the front recently as the result of the excessive use of drones by the Russian military, which made it too difficult for the tanks to operate without detection or coming under attack.
Nevertheless, it appears that the rapid advance of the Russian military to the northwest of Avdeevka has forced Ukraine to deploy the tanks.
An attempt by Kiev forces to attack the Crimean Peninsula using American-made MGM-140 ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles was foiled by Russian air defenses early on May 4.
It is still unclear what version was the version supplied to Ukraine. The U.S. might have supplied the M39A1 Block I which is armed with a cluster warhead with 300 M74 bomblets but has a range of 300 kilometers, or with the M48 QRU and M57 Block IA Unitary versions which are both armed with WAU-23/B unitary warheads and have a range of 270 and 300 kilometers respectively.
While the initial Ukrainian ATACMS attacks caused some damage, the more recent ones were way less successful. This indicates that the Russian military has begun to adapt to the new threat.
The Kiev regime apparently understands this. Earlier this week, Ivan Stupak, an adviser to the Ukrainian parliament’s national security, defense and intelligence committee, said that Kiev forces have only up to two months before the Russian military adapts to ATACMS.

Ukraine hasn't done this in the whole war. Their 2, so called, victories on the battlefield happened when Russia retreated to a defensible position. All Ukraine did was move in. The Kherson retreat was widely published and orderly, the Kharkov retreat was chaotic due to being unprepared but it saved lots of soldiers lives. Prior to Russia moving it's troops to the left bank in Kherson, it did massive damage to the Ukrainian army, but Russia thinks strategically and knew the best thing to do was to consolidate their soldiers on the left bank.

Russian never had man power problems. They weren't fighting a real war. According to the CIA the total Russian combat forces (including territorial units) totaled ~70 understrength BTGs (battalion Tactical Groups) during the invasion. Let's say an understrength BTG is 600 men instead of 800 men. So they had 42,000 combat soldiers. The rest were services personnel with the gear in the rear doing what those guys do. Which makes sense the CIA also said the total army size was 170k-190k. So a 1/4 tooth to tail ratio. Just for reference when America invaded Iraq the second time they had 167,000 combat troops. During the first Iraq war they had 256,000 combat personnel. Russia didn't have man power problems, they didn't bring any men at all. The point was to get Ukraine back to the negotiation table, which these succeeded in.
If you ever listened to War on the Rocks pod you will remember when Michael Koffman said during the invasion that there was no one in the back of the BMPs! instead of 6 guys jumping out 1 or maybe 2 would. It wasn't a man power problem. They literally just didn't intend to fight a real war. So no, it wasn't crazy losses that caused the Russians to have to go back and refit. That never happened. They basically didn't bring a real army so when it was clear the west would stop Ukraine from making peace they had to pull back and raise an army. Now, they probably have 140,000 combat troops on the line. and probably another 40,000 in reserve. Jesus have you learned nothing from having all this propoganda inundate you? Go look up the order of battle for the invasion on wikipedia.

If you are talking about the shortage of soldiers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, how do you think this shortage will affect the fighting? Any counteroffensives, attempts to encircle Russian troops and create a stable defense. All this requires the concentration of large forces. Ukraine is currently unable to concentrate forces at the front. If you follow the units that appear in the places of Russian offensives, it will become obvious to you that all Ukraine can do is transfer military units from one sector of the front to another. And as a result, conditions for a new breakthrough of the Ukrainian defense arise in those places from where troops were withdrawn for transfer. All the talk about traps for the Russian army, about Russia's alleged huge losses during the offensive, is nothing more than Ukraine's unwillingness to admit the fact that it no longer has sufficient forces to maintain a continuous line of defense. A breakthrough in the Avdiivka direction is dangerous for the Armed Forces of Ukraine because of the length of the new line of contact, which they need to protect. Offensive actions in other places are more local in nature. And by transferring a certain number of forces to such places, Ukraine sought to slow down its retreat there. But in the case of Ocheretino, the Russian army has entered the operational space, and the AFU does not have the opportunity to block all directions. APU Forces are afraid that the Russians will go along the highway to Pokrovsk, the Russians will take Solovyovo. The armed forces of Ukraine begin to strengthen Sokol, Russian troops take Arkhangelsk. The APU believes that this is done in order to control Ceramics and Novokalinovo, but they are being promoted to Novoalexandrovka. The situation is similar to the situation on the entire Ukrainian front as a whole. Russia is not trying to overcome those areas where Ukraine is preparing for defense. Because there are still enough areas in which Ukraine is not ready for defense.
Can arms supplies stop Russia's advance? Remember that the Leopards and Abrams were not completely destroyed. From time to time, "Hymers", "Storm shadows" and so on appear in Ukraine. The situation at the front is not because Ukraine does not have weapons. The situation is related to the fact that Russia has effective means of countering Western weapons supplied to Ukraine. Will the Armed Forces of Ukraine have more military equipment and artillery? This means that we will see the actions of the Lancets and Krasnopol again. Do Western tactics see this? They see this, hence the reluctance to supply Ukraine with this equipment. No one likes it when their weapons look powerless. But they will supply because they simply have no other options to support Ukraine.
When a group of people is faced with a problem that they cannot solve, some lock themselves in, others look for any possible options. There are those who only care about how they themselves would not suffer great damage from this. And there is always someone who starts screaming that everyone did everything wrong. And only he knows how to do it. Emotional Frenchmen often fall into this role. Macron is ready to talk about French troops in Ukraine. Is he really ready to send these troops there? I do not think so. Because Macron is not ready to answer the questions that he will be asked in France. When the French troops in Ukraine will be destroyed by missile strikes. From which France is no more protected than the Ukrainians.

The regime in ukraine seems to be pushing the conflict to total annihilation. It is known since the start the two forces were not comparable. Russia’s ability to replenish, resupply, and equip forces make ukraine’s defensive attempts futile in the long run. As an American i think the EU is mistaken that Russia would invade Poland and so on etc. if ukraine conquered. It appears to me to be an in-house dispute between two bordering nations with long extensive relationships.

Just found you. Very good. I like your balance of neutrality. It must be strongly suspected that the experts on war outcomes are correct when they say that Russia will prevail simply on the basis of a far greater ratio of resources compared to that available to the Ukrainian regime. This despite the pouring of weaponry into Ukraine by the western powers, the level of which is set to diminish despite the latest tranche and threats from both NATO and the EU to boost this. When it became clear that Russia had withstood the onslaught of western financial and economic sanctions and even began to prosper economically while the West suffered it was clear Russia would prevail. It would have been sensible and pragmatic for the western powers to convince Zelensky to halt his useless resistance when this became clear. It seems clear to me that the West was relying on a double whammy of a weakened Russia through sanctions along with the expenditure of much blood and treasure to effect a victory by the Ukrainian regime in combination with the West. Now, after the almost complete failure if not indeed the COMPLETE failure of this policy I don't see anything stopping Russia. Rump Ukraine, west of the Dnieper will most likely be reformed into several protectorates governed by EU nations until new elections are organised and run. These elections will with absolute certainty see peace candidates, Russia-neutral and Russia-positive candidates win across the board. That will signify the complete end of Zelensky and all who cleaved close to him. The end will be humiliating for the USA and particularly for the EU. Brussels will have to eat crow and cough up billions from EU taxpayers to put rump Ukraine back into some kind of shape that comes half way toward economic viability. Russia will reinforce its governance in all its new territories, bringing all the benefits of Russian pensions, health care, education, salaries, infrastructure such as airports, rail lines, motorways etc. etc. Ten years from now the entire location will be transformed and any historian looking back will surely remark at the incredible and disastrous folly of western geopolitical entities of the West and shake their heads in utter disbelief that such stupidity took place.

Remember the regional volunteers battalions. That initiative raise 84,000 men for the front. When that failed there was the mobilisation of the 300,000 that hasn't stopped. then there was the rapists and murders from prison recruitment that had raised over 150,000 men by mid 2023 and continues to this day, then there is the forced mobilisation in the Republics of ethnic minorities. A Wagner soldier didnt had to call in the Russian airforce for air support, because they had their own MiGs, artillery, tanks, and infantry, so they could pretty much wage combined arms warfare regardless of what the military is doing. That was beneficial for a relatively localized thing like the Bakhmut offensive, however, it would turn wasteful if the airforce would be split and ordered to individual ground troops instead of patrolling the entire frontline.
