This was my entry into METAL guitar playing! I heard Iron Maiden, and Dave Murray's trills made it possible for 12 year old kids to be a rock star. I am forever thankful.
Gina, I am Scottish, I live outside of Venice in Italy, I teach English and I have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about but .... it is fantastic. I teach my 'Italians' UK and USA music ..... great!!!
I'm a sax player and singer, band leader, but I love watching Gina teach guitar bc it's great I know as much as I can about whatever possible for all the instruments...
I was a bass player in a successful touring band . Now that I'm older I have a family and play guitar and you are showing me what I need to know to enjoy playing again. Thank you so much for everything you are doing. I'm so glad I found you. It's like I'm young again!
Hey Gina, just a shout-out from one of your old Plymouth Meeting pals. You sound great every time I watch you, and not only are you a monster guitarist, but you are one of my all time favorite people. Until we meet again somewhere out there, be well and never stop. Doc
Never played an instrument. It's one thing to know how to,it's another to be able to articulate accurately how to do it . You're extremely intelligent!
john panning she’s awesome. She is the newest member of Baroness, was on their last album. Great player, but also added a voice for fantastic harmonies. Check out the episode of Two Minutes To Late Night, she seems to be a legitimately cool character.
I can't believe I found this chick!! I sooo deeply need to excell Beyond where I have been all my guitar playing years.. I'm in desperate need of a tutoring :-)
Love You Right Off!! You're the reason I don't have a computer at home. I'd be there ALL DAY with the likes of you! Now I have to get back to work and think about nothing but playing guitar. I Hope You're Happy!! THANKS for the Awesome lesson! Can't wait for the next one(s).
If you know how to do the A minor/C major pentatonic first position scale (which is usually the first one you learn) it's the same for every other note wherever that note falls on the low E string. Hope this helps with figuring out the root note pattern.
Didn’t she dude!.. Many tutorials can be hard to follow simply due to hard to listen explanations and not explaining what they’re doing or why they’re doing it, they just expect you to understand immediately with no follow up, so I call this talented artist one of the best tutorials I’ve ever watched or heard...
I knew it would happen. Watched lots of guys trying to show something but never getting it across before they go off on a wild solo (and I mean solo cause I didnt go along) experience. Actually got some useful things that could be helpful here.
She is very generous to direct the helpless novice. A very lucid, straight-shooting teacher she is! Sadly, her ring finger and little finger have an unhealthy relationship. I hope a better qualified person sees her lessons and advises her.
The trickiest part - that Gina does but do not mention - is applying vibrato to a bent note. Also, most players teaching bends don't describe it as pushing the fingers up, but rather letting the wrist to the job in a pivot motion. It's good though, she mentions supporting the bending finger with a finger behind it.
She seems like she’s having a lot of fun showing off these skills… genuinely wants people to learn them… make learning them fun.
You really have the good way to make things simple and clear. You take your time and you're relax. Excellent.

What a great video. I have been playing guitar for 55 years and still found it interesting. Thank you Gina, and, of course, Fender.
