Walking in the biggest historical square of Iran

Naqsh Jahan Square is also famous with the historical name of Shah Square and after the 1357 Iranian Revolution with the official name of Imam Square, the central square of Isfahan city, which is located in the heart of the Naqsh Jahan historical complex.

The historical buildings on the four sides of Naqsh Jahan Square include Ali Qapu, Shah Mosque (Imam Mosque), Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and Sardar Qaysarieh, which is the main entrance to Isfahan Bazaar. In addition to these buildings, two hundred two-story rooms are located around the square, whi9ch are generally the place of supply of handicrafts of Isfahan.
Naqsh Jahan Square was registered as number 102 in the list of national monuments of Iran on 8th of Bahman 1313 and in May 1358 as number 115, it was one of the first Iranian works to be registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Geography and specifications
Naqsh Jahan Square is a rectangular square with a length of 560 meters and a width of 160 meters (length 440 feet and width 160 feet[5]) in the center of Isfahan city.[6]
There are two hundred two-story cells around the square. In addition to that, the four noble buildings, Shah Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and Sardar Qaysarieh are also built in the middle of the four sides of this rectangle.
