  • Orange has become my absolute favorite color for sea trout during fall and winter when the water temperature is still quite high.
I have been fishing with this shrimp pattern for a few years now and I really like it and so do the fish. The UV resin on the back makes it very easy and quick to tie but of course it's not as strong as if you had used ribbing to securer the back.
If you don't have a spey hackle, you can replace it with marabou or Craft fur in a dubbing loop, but the orginal is slightly better.
    Hook: Ahrex NS 122 #2-8
Glue: Zap brush on, Gulff Flexman, Thinman, Black Magic
Thread: Textreme Power thread 25D - White
Eyes: Easy shrimp Eyes M. Fl Orange
Tail: Spey hackle - Orange, Hedron Polarflash - Gold, Crystal flash small - Fl. Orange
Mouth: Coq de leon Rooster cape - Orange
Back: Extra Select Craft Fur - #118 Fiery Hot Red
    Hackle: Spey hackle - Orange
Body: A mix of following material, mixed in a coffee grinder. SLF prism in colors - Fl. Fire Orange, gold, SLF-Saltwater - Fl. Orange and Baitfish Supreme - Salmon, Senyo’s Fusion Dub #2 Eat a Peach

Thanks for sharing! Where did you get that monster perch in the photo in the background? What did you catch it on? I got some fat perch in Colorado yesterday at 5280 feet above sea level on my 4 weight Winston while having a ball catching crappie! Adios amigo!

Do you think the red/orange colour works better than the original pink in winter months or just an alternative to have as well?

Are the spey saddles any good for tying them?

Is it a spey cape or saddle you use?

Preferably spey cape. Works with saddles for this type of pattern as well.
