im so glad you guys mentioned how the song itself is deluding the listeners into thinking the song is sweet when it's actually sad. i saw a lot of stays saying how "cute" and "sweet" the song is and not agreeing that its sad despite almost all the lyrics being sad. and i think it was all planned like you said. hes kind of taking us in firsthand experience on how he feels. i also think him adding engsubs was on purpose because he wanted people to understand but knows that a lot wont either way even if its right in front of their face. which is like him deluding himself in his love when he knows its bad and onesided but it doesnt feel that way bc he sees ice as a cream.
