Hey sam & melissa, hearing sam talking about playing outside reminded me of my childhood. We used to visit my nanna every saturday. All our cousins would be there. My nan had 9 kids, so there were alot of cousins. We were chucked into the park to play and we loved it. The park was next door to her house. There were no video games, we made up games. Love your channel 😊
My Gramma had 9 also. Neither of us (myself or extended family) were any of those religions though. I just came from parents that both had medium-large size families. My other gramma had 5. I wanted 5, but had 4. I'm not young though, either. In my 40s 😉
My dad was Catholic and 1 of 12 kids -- only a 16 year age gap between oldest and youngest Even though they lived in the suburbs and didn't have access to hay bales, your stories reminded me so much of the bedtime stories I grew up with. Great reminder that kids always find some fun even in tough circumstances, whether in Utah or Chicago!
I always watch your videos on my exercise bike so I loved the sponsor! I got mine on the side of the road and have 'repaired' the belt with a lot of hair ties so I'm actually in the market haha
I’m not Mormon, ex-Mormon, did not grow up in any religious community or anywhere near Utah but I find Melissa and Sam to be so captivating to watch! Melissa you are so beautiful and you are a great partner to Sam in these videos - always asking the questions we are curious about and keeping the conversation flowing. I’m just binging all of these 😅
Interesting as ever. Thanks. Even as a little girl in the UK I made bows and arrows (because we read Robin Hood). We would go to the big local park/dene where there were lots of yew trees and take it from there!
After watching this video, I remember another one of your videos speaking of the times before the locking down of the community and how creativity was encouraged in learning and in play. It is so sad that the greed for power ruined the good qualities that were once a foundation of the community. Hope your family is safe and well.
I’ve been binge watching y’all & I pray more will leave the cult! Thanks for bringing awareness to others. We don’t see this is south Alabama thank goodness.
Ok,, so this is a BIG ask. If at all possible could you do a time line / Fischer family tree ???? Maybe do a Good & Bad Eggs for the men & which Fischer daughters were married into which other prominent families.
I was born in 1956, we had tv but my growing up years were spent outside exploring and playing. TV was for night times and Sat morning cartoons. No video games, but a great growing up.
Glad you got a sponsor !! Did you go fishing? I had 3 brothers but also cousins that we close in age. They could get in plenty of trouble. We had quads, snowmobiling ( we get winter up here!) You may not have doll because like me i loved my baby sister. And was very protective. I had a living doll! When i was a kid we didn't have TV or games .
Kind of sounds like how I grew up, always outside,me taking care of my brothers, chores, etc. I am not FLDS, And I am also not a boy, but I am the oldest of 4 and the only girl.
I really appreciate this channel! I’ve long had questions about the FLDS to which you’ve given answers. Not sure if you’ve talked about this in a video already, but I’m curious about what a church service looks like in the FLDS, compared to the LDS. And now that folks have fled Short Creek and scattered all over, how are they observing the sabbath?
What was his reason for no fun ? I’m sure it’s been answered but why did he have SO many rules . We’re board games aloud ? LOL at “only 6” I’m an only child 😂 so it’s crazy to me 😂
When you are left to your own devices and imagination I’m sure the boys I can imagine they got into a lot of mischief but I bet 3 mothers watching would be a major buzz kill 🤣😂🤣
Did the moms try to coordinate the births so that they each would have babies around the same age? I guess I'm trying to ask if they would have babies at the same time on purpose for it to be groups of children the same age to keep each other company and all the kids in each age group shared rooms and learn how to do the same chores and work together all at the same time? Edit: I could totally hear Sam's shortcreek accent coming out when he talks about his adventures hiking in the mountains. 😆 It's so funny because you guys talked about how thick his accent was when ya'll met, but I never really heard it until this episode. I guess the nostalgia he feels about those mountains really brings it out ..Hahaha 😆
They didn't really coordinate, there was just no birth control allowed so they were all constantly having children. haha With multiple wives, this meant that there were a lot of us around the same age. And I guess talking about home brings out the accent. =)
Who needs dolls when you could just grab a real baby? You guys had to have at least a couple of barbies around every few years when you have that many little brothers and sisters around. 😆 🤣
(Melissa) I feel for their mothers sooo much every time I hear one of his stories! It also makes me fear for what future mischief our son has in store... haha
Melissa, I’ve said it before but once again, I’m struck by what a fantastic interviewer you are! I’m glad you’ve been sponsored.
(Melissa) Thank you so much!

Thank you so much, Kacie! you are so sweet! We are so glad you are enjoying our videos.

My brothers made pvc and bailing twine bows, too!
I love that you had so much fund outside! One question I have is totally random - what were funerals like in the FLDS?
Great question! I would love to know, never thought of it
Love the stories of ingenuity! One question, did the Mother’s ever say “you’re going to put someone’s eye out with that”?
I just love the way you look at eachother, every time.
Its very sweet.
Awww thank you!

Love this video, as always! Thanks guys. Love and blessings from Virginia 😘
Love the new background, and I love the way you both just ‘bounce’ of each other. It’s so clear how much you are in love. Congrats on the sponsor 💫
Thank you so much!!

We are working on a good way to do a family tree video haha. It is on the list!

(Melissa) Thank you so much! I grew up with my baby sister (who is 8 years younger than me) as my living baby doll too! It's the best!
I'm not a fan of computer/video games either. I've really been enjoying your channel. I have watched every video :-)
Where you guys filming today? Not your normal background. I like the window frames on the wall.
Hi from Oklahoma 💜💜😭😭
I love your channel ❤️
Another great video! Thanks for sharing! Hope y’all have a great weekend 😊
Hi Sam and Melissa 🍃🌼🍃
Hi! =)
Thanks for the great video guys
Our pleasure!

Another great video. Love watching your content
Thank you for watching!

Wow it sounds like quite an adventurous time!
This reminds me of me playing at my grandparents
Do you have many pictures from when you lived there? Did people generally have cameras?
I bet your kids get to have fun. ☀️
ABSOLUTELY!!! We try to have as much FUN as possible. =)
When you are left to your own devices and imagination I’m sure the boys I can imagine they got into a lot of mischief but I bet 3 mothers watching would be a major buzz kill 🤣😂🤣

❤️❤️❤️
I love Sam!
Aww thank you!
What kind of work do your siblings do that are not in the flds
A lot of them are still in construction, using the skills we learned from a young age.
The days before computers was good; use your mind!
I got bad news yesterday
All these stories make me wonder how Sam and his brothers survived childhood. Their moms must be prematurely gray.
(Melissa) I feel for their mothers sooo much every time I hear one of his stories! It also makes me fear for what future mischief our son has in store... haha
After you left was it hard to justify spending money on something that you would have went to the junkyard and built it for free
Let's not forget that little girls do dumb things on sports equipment too
🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Americans are so weird, wearing shoes in the house. LOL Random thought.
I love you guys! keep it real
I love Sam’s laugh!
(Melissa) Me too. =)
The boys really were not polygamous, so the title of video doesn’t ring true.
Grew up in a plyg family so yes polygamous
We considered the whole community a "polygamous" community, so we grew up calling ourselves all polygamous.
