Recovery Analysis(In The River)

- We decided to sit down and do some commentary about an old recovery. We figured we would try this out and see what you guys thought about us examining ourselves. This recovery was of a 4runner floating down the river. This explains things a little more than the original video. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

I think we forget that it's you 3 guys doing the recoveries and the filming and your priorities are the customers not us. Heavy D, Matt and even Robbie seem to have a crew who's only job is to film and get the best footage. Even if it's just 1 extra person running the cameras it takes the pressure off. You guys do a fantastic job.
and unlike some others (RLN(.. there isn't a lot of yak yak yak... I am a comedian, look at me I am a star... The Trailmater crew is just naturally great and Justin does a wonderful job of putting it together
Well that and Heavy D needs 8 guys and 10 times the budget to do what the rest of those crews do in half the time. And at least 75% more preening at the camera or reminding the audience how rich they are.
Trailmaters guys have a job to do and do what it takes to get it done the others HD,RL , MATT'S,,are more about themselves go minu mater
Like I’ve said before Trailmater are guys who do recoveries and put it on UA-camrs, the others are UA-camrs who do recoveries.
Gave up watching 'the other' drama queens mentioned as these three guys are at least ten times better entertainment than those others will ever be and you learn something to about how to and not to do using winches etc. So Rory Shaun* and Mike really have no competiton.
*Sorry if thats misspelled and please correct me if its wrong!
You guys have a "bent" sense of humor much like mine and that is what makes Team Trail Mater Team Trail Mater. None of you go off half cocked and panic which is a good thing for the work you do. Filming is just a small part and doesn't take priority the job does. The shenanigans I believe are your stress relief and without them you wouldn't be here. Again I Thank You Team Trail Mater for taking us along just for the ride along.
Never effin change, guys! That's why this channel is unique and works so well!
You got that rig out of the water, nobody died, it was a successful recovery no matter how it happened.
When your keyboard warrior you have all the time in the world to think of the coulda woulda shoulda things. In the heat of the moment it is what it is and you do what you got to do with what you have.
I love watching you guys because you solve problems, and your sense of humor is right in a line with mine.
Keep on keeping on.
Thanks for filming what you can. For those that complain about missed footage, you got more than you paid for. 😊😊
Isn't THAT the truth!!
I find your videos to be the most honest, down to earth entertainment on the net! I like some of the others, but I prefer the adventurous and cantankerous nature of your crew! Your humor is way too similar to my own, so it's like I'm watching friends! Please do not change the way you are!
People need to take it to heart when you tell them you're a recovery company that films what they do. You're not an entertainment company. Your priority is the recovery. It's one of the many things I appreciate about your videos. Are there any plans for like a Patreon type account?
so true... I am loosing interest and fast forwarding through some of the other channels that are more Keystone Cops (and looking woefully unprepared) than the professionalism I see on Trailmater
Those jet skis are so under-equipped. No roll cage, no winch with a boom for lifting out of the water. And how about them tiny little motors on them things? **LS SWAP PEOPLE!!!** Get some V8 power, maybe a blower on 'em. Oh and pontoons man, to support the weight of the roll cage. Oh and some big ass coil-over shocks for when the water gets rough! Now I know you are on a budget so think about some bubble wrap for added flotation. You should also consider a bilge pump on a float to lower the river. That's all for now. If my keyboard thinks of any other stuff you should have done better, I'll let you know. 🙃
You should also consider a bilge pump on a float to lower the river .That was a good one,🤣
😂 Yep. Way easier access with lower water!
A crane on a bridge - dehydrated; just add water. And a sub staffed by frogmen on standby that you keep in the amphibious snow-cat, easy!
Rory people seem to forget that you have said since the beginning your top priority is doing the recovery which is what it should be.
I always enjoy your videos that was a unique situation and you guys handled it well.
I always enjoy the behind the scenes commentary
Cutting room floor recovery!!
That “behind the scenes” was quiet enjoyable to watch. The optimistic dynamic between you three is the secret sauce. 👍
You three have the chemistry and personality that make me keep tuning in. Love watching.
I'm always amazed at people that act like they are owed youtube content. These folks don't exist just to entertain you. The video is secondary to the work. They're trying to get a car out of a river and not die in the process. Absolutely ridiculous that someone would complain about the camera battery...
Just three guys doing an honest job - that's what makes this channel great.
It's the internet people will complain about anything and everything. No matter what. Some people goal in life is to just cause drama and try to upset others.
These folk who think they are entitled to free content the way they want it, are here, there and everywhere.
On Matt's channel for example, people started complaining that they missed one of the 3 weekly videos twice in a row and then proceeded to complain that his sons are doing the recoveries: "It's called Matt's Off-Road Recovery, dammit!" And it never occurred to them that there would be reasons for it, like Matt being sick for several weeks...
Or the all-time classic for all channels: How dare they take sponsorships! Sell-out! Unsubscribed!
This behavior makes me angry and I'm just a viewer!
@@LillyRocket
Same here!
@@LillyRocket Yeah, so many comments on Matts videos of he's not doing recoveries anymore he's this or that. They forget that 4 to 5 years ago when he started the channel Rudy was there and he would do recoveries for his dad by himself and now that Matts next 2 oldest boys are able to drive and getting done with school, they are going to be in move videos and doing more of the work just like any family business does. But people bitch about everything these days. I have notice that if any person is missing from a video they think there got fired or quit. But it just they were busy doing other things. Seen it on this channel, FabRats, Rudy'ds, Matts, Robby, and so many more. It is sad. I'm happy to watch what every they give us, because regular tv sucks. I haven't watch on air tv in 4 years.
Just my two cents. I don't think you need to apologize for the way you do things and get it done. Ever! Let the ignorant be themselves.
It's so easy to sit back and criticize when they obviously have no idea what it takes or what all is going on.
You and your guys keep doing what you are doing. You're rocking it. Cheers.
I love these little sit downs watching old videos and listening to all your comments about the day and what was happening and going on. It’s a refreshing change from the norm. Enjoy the rest of ya weekend guys. 🤟😎🇦🇺
It also shows us that this one is memorable to you. 👍 Really enjoyed the recap!
One thing that I like about your videos is the fact that they’re not Hollywood big budget productions. I don’t like anything about the Hollywood thing and I never go to movies. I get much more quality entertainment from you guys and greatly appreciate what you do. Keep up the excellent work and thanks to your small crew.
100% agree - When a channel I watch starts getting too popular and gets "high production value" that's usually about when I loose interest.
I think this is amazing and the fact that there are people who comment while they weren't there and therefore don't know what was going on at that moment continues to amaze me.
This is a great way to explain things.
Exactly.
I mean, it’s better ask a question to try to understand the situation. Because we know that what we see on the screen isn’t even half of what actually happens during a recovery; they have to edit a lot and leave some things out for brevity so we just don’t see “all the things”.
I find it amazing that people that most likely have no real world experience in recovery always have an opinion. You guys are the best!
Really enjoy your channel. The raw footage and commentary is great! Keep it real and look forward to your videoa
Love these commentary videos guys. Amazing content!!!! Keep it up. 👍❤💯
Lovely film to watch on Sunday morning , I enjoy all your videos.
Love the after action report!
I like the commentary. Learning is one reason I enjoy your channel. Glad no one froze or drowned. :)
lol, the amount of people that don't get these guys are primarily a Recovery Company & filming it for YT is a secondary thing .. me i always like these BTS / analysis of older recoveries
Fearless Leaders are required sometimes just as much as Faithful Sidekicks, You Guys make the Perfect Team
I'm just glad you film what you do.
Thanks Rory that was a challenging recovery. The Moab angels😊💚
All three of you men are irreplaceable. Your skill sets are amazing and your work ethic is very impressive. I admire folks who have worked hard and have done great recoveries while showing us their positivity in getting things done right.
Enjoyed the replay.
Also , we stopped watching tv bc tv became so mythical, it wasn’t real, too pristine , unlike life itself, keep this coming bc I think this is what was missing from original tv, and y’all have nailed it👍
These guys are the Best at what they do!
If people who watch this channel haven't realized the job comes first and foremost, hopefully they understand now. This recovery is still one of the most "holy cow, I can't believe you guys pulled it off" ones. Fun to revisit it and hear a bit more about it.
And not for nothing, this is one of your greatest rescues of all time! Amazing Work 👏
I get and love you guys sense of humor, especially like the "bloopers" after the thanks for watching chyron. you guys rock.
Like you have told us, Safe recovery is job #1 . Thanks again for letting us watch you guys at work. Go team Trail Mater !💚
Great content guys.
One of the scariest recoveries I've ever seen, I was at full pucker more than once watching it.
You guys make smile, real guys doing real work! Way fun to watch your adventures, with commentary.
Love the commentary , glad y’all lost footage, only bc it’s really good to hear the aftertalk, y’all are definitely on the rt track, it’s the transparency, the explanations, and the antics, y’all do well, and will continue to grow, don’t change❤
Yeah I remember this recovery when you put it out the first time. And for those complaining about the camera footage the main thing to remember that getting the vehicle out of the river.
Love the trailmater content and humor!!!
I think the first off road rollback is cool and gets the job done!!
Please keep up the great recoveries and awesome content. Awesome crew, all of you, getting the jobs done the best you can!
Great analysis video. The honesty is what makes Trail Mater great. Keep it up guys.
We love your rollback!!
I really enjoyed this video with your "after commentary". I would love to see more of this sort of thing. Ignore the trolls. People that watch this channel for any length of time would realize you always do what you feel is right for the current rescue. You always complete the rescue so there's the proof. Between the 3 of you I'm sure you guys try to make the best decisions depending on the situation. I am just glad you take us along. I'm not gonna sit in my recliner and yell at you that you should have done this or that. If I didn't trust your judgement I wouldn't be watching your channel. If I want to see kaos and mayhem I'll watch whistlin' Diesel.
Having lived and worked in the real world I can completely understand when a recovery isn’t filmed to perfection and I know what it’s like to be in a rush to get on scene not knowing what you may need. You guys do a great job without added fake drama. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Woulda, shoula, coulda!
That was a memorable recovery!
❤Thanks Guys!❤
Man just do you're thing. Love watching the video's 👍
His hair was magical 😂😂😂
I'm amazed at how much you guys are able to get on video. I think a lot of people don't appreciate how much extra time and effort it takes to film every detail of the job you're doing when you dont have dedicated camera wranglers. It can be such an immense distraction from the actual job at hand, especially when safety is involved and you need to stay focused. Thank you for sharing as much as you do.
I love when you guys go live on mondays during the slow season and videos like this!
If I drive into a river and you show up to get me out I will do zero complaining. Hope you guys are having fun at the hammers!
Much love from Colorado
A friend of mine once told me that the world is full of "you shoulds". You should do this, you should do that. He was right.
fun seeing you guys talk about this strange recovery. This recovery was done as best it could be done.
I find it interesting that people expect everything to go perfect in videos. They forget that we are all human, and things happen. These aren't rehearsed videos. Watching you all figure out how to make things work is my favorite part. Keep it up!!
Enjoyed the play by play commentary! 13:28
All of your lives are more important then worrying bout filming it ❤😊
You could easily make this channel into a very successful tv series with virtually no effort. The 3 of you (4 if we count Justin) compliment one another so well it's crazy. Every new video is Saturday morning cartoons for this old man, and for that I thank you.
This content is absolutely incredible! Thanks for sharing this!
Based on what you're saying here, the very stuff that some complain about it EXACTLY what I like and admire about not just your channel, but your work ethic. Regardless of the odds or what you have with you, you get the job done. You guys are awesome!
I really enjoy the humor on your channel. I find it crazy people complain about anything when they are watching a video for free. Keep up the good work.
I think all your videos and especially your commentaries. Matt, Bobby, Paul and HD all have their own way of doing things. Your videos are raw and show all the different issues and difficulties of recoveries. I especially enjoy your self deprecating sense of humor. You all have your own way of doing things. Don’t change anything you’re doing. Being a retired Coastie I’d like to thank you for wearing your PFD’s and can appreciate the water recovery.
Always enjoy listening to you and the crew and all the content you post. You guys are so honest and real - keep doing what you are doing!
You guys do a great job, we enjoy what ever you share with us. Filming for us is a bonus, as if you don’t have enough to do already. We see places we may never get travel to, and your skills at recovering vehicles from crazy places is awesome. So thanks very much from an old man New Zealand.
You guys are the real deal!! Love the content, commentary and camaraderie! 👍👍👍
What a nice personable group of guys. Honest and down to earth as it gets. Really enjoyed this recap of a cool recovery.
Those who know, know..... the hell with the rest! 😄 It was disappointing not to have the footage dark or not, but anyone whose lived in the mountains knows just how cold, cold can get when you're wet!!!!
I know yall love to call the trolls out😂 But we know yall are just badass humans🎉
And if we have to watch "why i did what i did for dummies" we are here for that too❤
Ultimately, you had a successful recovery with lessons learned and a wet adventure along the way. Thank You for sharing your recoveries with us fans!
You got it out and everyone is alive and thawed out. If people haven't lived in the world you guys show us, or tried to record video while working on something you can't stop doing, they just won't get it. Got to love the original off road rollback.
That was a great idea to show old videos and talk about the insides. Thanks for sharing!👍🏼
Your make do attitude and ability are huge part of the reason I enjoy the channel so much. As a former firefighter, I understand what happens when you respond to something based on what imformation you have. On arrival, it's sometimes apparent you didn't bring all that you needed! Keep up the great work and the occasional shenanigans!
Thanks guys, I and I'm sure lots of other people like what you do and appreciate you filming so we can go with you.
These are the best. Hilarious
This content is so engaging. Thanks for sharing!
Nothing we do is what you're supposed to do. Love that Rory. This is a great segment. Thanks for the extra explanations.
Thanks for showing us what you can. You guys film more different angles and shots than anyone you do a great job
You guys rock! His was a good hang with you guys. Your humor and hard work is appreciated. I always look forward to your videos. Keep it real and keep it you guys.
You guys do an amazing job! Didn’t think it was going to be that interesting watching you rehash this epic recovery, but your humor shines through and made it very entertaining. Great job.
Rory. I have been a subscriber and follower of your channel for 4 years. Every video is awesome. They are funny and educational if people would open thier negative minds. Thank you for what you do and stay honest. Oh Mike is an awesome camera man.
Manliest handshake at 11:33 , talk about trust! And strength too!
Very much enjoyed this, hope you do more. Appreciate your humor. Thanks
This was such a fun video, thank you! It was wonderful to get the behind-the-scenes perspective and to hear your thoughts that you obviously can't share while you're trying to prevent a car from floating further down a river. I'd love to see more like this!
Great job as usual! You guys always put a smile on my face when I watch your videos keep on keeping on!👍
That was a great recovery. I really enjoyed the commentary. I was most impressed when you said you had your pocket knife on the hood ready to cut the winch line. That is what safety is all about looking ahead and preparing for what could happen.
This is where the fun is. Order and routine is not what we watch for. Fortunately you usually don't get hurt. Lucky for us that you enjoy it.
Awesome love the entertainment factor. Y’all are incredibly funny and laughter is great medicine. 👏🤣😎
Thank you. You guys are awesome.
This is great. Please do more of these rewatch videos.
I agree. But not so much you and the crew can't enjoy it.
@machoneJett what's that? Lol
@@jeffomalley100 ReallY!
@@georgevindo Yeah Really
@ I do agree these rewatch videos are good.
Love what you guys do and I love your humor. Keep on keeping on!
You guys are frigging rock stars !!! I would love to see more videos like this for follow-up after your more complex recoveries. Keep it up boys !!!!
It was a great recovery. Unforseen things happens. I was on the edge of my seat when i saw this recovery. It was a very dangerous recovery.
Don,t know why all the comments on this recovery .That is what it was a recovery .You got it out,The car was was drowned trashed already. Nice to hear what happened with brake line it would catch someone out with no experience .Great job guys .Cheers from Australia.
This is LITERALLY the best video ever.
I loooooove that people don't get your humor and make idiotic comments ( because those of us who share your same exact humor freakin blaaaaast the hell out of them in the comments ). Seriously Rory, I freaking LOVE the mojo that you and the boys have. It's kinda like 'Ol Trailmater, it just works.
DON'T. CHANGE. ANYTHING.
Omg I love your guys humor 😂😂. It’s so cool you are giving your insight to your videos and it makes it so much funnier
The kids and I go to Moab a few times a year and have yet to have a problem, but it’s comforting to know you guys are there if needed!
Great idea! Hearing more of what went on with such a crazy rescue is good insight into how you work through the problem (and also that there are a lot of useless comments on here). I don't think some of the viewers get that you are doing your *job*, and that _filming_ it for UA-cam is a bonus on the side.
To protect your feet for something like that in the future, you might want to get some water shoes. I'm an avid kayaker, but I also like to get out and hike a bit sometimes, so a pair of water shoes provide enough sole that you can not tear your feet up on stuff, but they're really minimal otherwise and can pack away easily and be washed. If you look up "water shoes" on something like Amazon, you'll see there's tons of them ranging from simple slip-ons to ones you can lace up (those might be better suited for stuff like this crazy job). They're pretty cheap and might be a good thing to keep with the rest of the gear.
It's always easy to come up with a better plan afterwards - that's life!
No complaints from this sub.
Here's the deal...you guys do SUCH a good job...Mike's camera work, whoever does your editing, it's all top quality. So...when there's anything less than perfect, wellllll...the complaints roll in. I say GOOD JOB, WELL DONE!!
Never feel you have to justify yourself to anyone who is not out there doing what you are doing. You are the greatest at your job in your area.
Your humor is great! I'm still laughing the last time Rory asked Mike to pass him the "glue stick"!! 🙂
