Everytime i see the intro cutscene to this game, as much as i like the sonic movies, i cant help but feel disappointed the sonic movies weren't like this instead of "cartoon animal go to the real world" stock plot. The werehog short the wreck it wralph cameos the cgi cutscenes in unleashed and sonic 06 it is weird they decided on live action but atleast we didn't get realistic sonic who made a cameo in the chip and dale movie but I assume its because they were risking a video game movie costing more than it would make if they made it cgi
I used to really want the Sonic Movies to be more like the games but I’ve come to appreciate the Movies more and more as time goes on. It gave/gives us a new original side of Sonic that we’d never seen in Canon along with a unique origin and cool retelling of the games’ plots, all while being entertaining for both kids and fans. I think they went with the right choice for giving us what we got.

The only glitch I've ever experienced with the game was on the 360 version there was a dialogue glitch sonic kept saying chip wow over and over during the super sonic fight

Fun fact if you look at eggman in sonic frontiers he's using the same eggmobile from this game and sonic forces but the one in forces has a slightly different version of the button that he pushes in the opening scene of unleashed and the one in frontiers doesn't have the same boosters on the back kind of a shame he didn't push the rainbow/chaos emerald button when he literally shot sonic out of a cannon sonic x style

Sonic Unleashed was my first Sonic game, and it holds a very special place in my heart for a lot of reasons, so seein y'all play this made me SOOO happy. This is the first thing in a while to make me laugh as hard as I have, especially on the first watch. The Sonic and Chip bit KILLS me. Also, Penny's laugh gives me life. I too playing sonic games as a kid, felt the need to socially disown being a sonic fan for many years, and then saw the dubs and remembered how much I loved sonic and dove back in headfirst.
Fun fact: the intro animation was originally mastered in 16:9, as seen here in the Wii-PS2 version. The wider, more cinematic aspect ratio seen in the PS3-X360 version is cropped down from it. Thus, you either can see the full frame of it or you can see it in HD, but not both! The "ingame" cutscenes are a similar story, as whatever they were recorded from was _not_ a normal PS3 or Xbox 360, as the framerate issues don't seem present in the recordings.

The PS2 version is the one I grew up with and it still was one of my favorite Sonic games. The daytime stages were hard for me but were so rewarding to go back and master. Even the Werehog as basic as the combat was had some really fun platforming levels to speed through. Genuinely thank you for playing this version ❤

The Sonic 06 dub led to a double whammy of life changing revelations for me. One was that I realized it’s cool that I like sonic. And the other, through it introducing me to your LPs and streams, eventually I came to realize that I’m transgender.
The only home console I had growing up was a PS2 so this was the version I played. Since I was playing on a boxy old CRT the lower-quality graphics weren't an issue (and the performance was actually decent from what I remember) I remember being bummed out that it didn't have the hub-worlds, but you can't have everything ig lol
I think one possible reason for sonic being stretchy in werehog mode is cuz he kinda transforms into something similar to the monsters you fight at night and they can stretch , that's about it though lol.
This is my first time seeing Unleashed and I am so glad it is through the lens of Penny and Mar parroting every voice line (also I stopped in the middle of this to watch Sparkle On, Raven! and my life is improved because of it)
It's kinda neat in a weird cool way hearing someone else that laughs like the air is leaving you or like that one dog from that one racing cartoon. Edit: Snapcube and overall the Sonic dubs never fail to make me laigh so much that i end up having a coughing fit and I'm not even close to halfway through the video lol
Honestly as someone who only ever played Sonic on the Game Gear & on Gamecube (SA 2) I've never really considered myself a part of the Sonic community. it's funny hearing penny say the day stages were her favorite I was the complete opposite, I grew up on the ps2 version and I thought the day stages were so boring I literally only wanted to play the werehog ones non stop
1:50:00-ish I'm happy to hear her point it out and cherish, celebrate that, and for my addition to such happy news, the fandubs made me appreciate the games again with the newfound joy I had long been wanting to return, and through them, it finally came back, a decent amount of that original desire bubbling into my mind as it once used to, despite being in the midst of the pandemic, as a slightly faded/off-time-but-never-fully-cut-off fan, even the voice actors, though you'd think it would only make me miss the fandubs and not regain passion for the originals that inspired the quality of said fandubs. It also speaks to the, like, it's okay to nitpick and critique deeply the media you also love dearly, even the utterly unironic loves, because...of course you know it well and therefore you'll dig through all its bits and parts out of care and interest, to fully absorb all the satisfaction you can out of it. Speaking of "speaks to," the VA's in fandubs capturing the spirit, perhaps the id of the original game/show VA's, which alights our dormant liking to the usual games' soundscapes, or, as she pointed out, sparks that flame for newbies to get into the franchise and fandom comfortably. 😊💓

Fun fact if you look at eggman in sonic frontiers he's using the same eggmobile from this game and sonic forces but the one in forces has a slightly different version of the button that he pushes in the opening scene of unleashed and the one in frontiers doesn't have the same boosters on the back kind of a shame he didn't push the rainbow/chaos emerald button when he literally shot sonic out of a cannon sonic x style

Sonic Unleashed was my first Sonic game, and it holds a very special place in my heart for a lot of reasons, so seein y'all play this made me SOOO happy. This is the first thing in a while to make me laugh as hard as I have, especially on the first watch. The Sonic and Chip bit KILLS me.

I too playing sonic games as a kid, felt the need to socially disown being a sonic fan for many years, and then saw the dubs and remembered how much I loved sonic and dove back in headfirst.

Fun fact: the intro animation was originally mastered in 16:9, as seen here in the Wii-PS2 version. The wider, more cinematic aspect ratio seen in the PS3-X360 version is cropped down from it. Thus, you either can see the full frame of it or you can see it in HD, but not both!
The "ingame" cutscenes are a similar story, as whatever they were recorded from was _not_ a normal PS3 or Xbox 360, as the framerate issues don't seem present in the recordings.
Their Chip voice and personality reminds me of the gnome in wayneradiotv's Half-Life:Alyx videos and it's delightful.

The PS2 version is the one I grew up with and it still was one of my favorite Sonic games. The daytime stages were hard for me but were so rewarding to go back and master. Even the Werehog as basic as the combat was had some really fun platforming levels to speed through. Genuinely thank you for playing this version ❤

The Sonic 06 dub led to a double whammy of life changing revelations for me. One was that I realized it’s cool that I like sonic. And the other, through it introducing me to your LPs and streams, eventually I came to realize that I’m transgender.

The only home console I had growing up was a PS2 so this was the version I played. Since I was playing on a boxy old CRT the lower-quality graphics weren't an issue (and the performance was actually decent from what I remember)
I remember being bummed out that it didn't have the hub-worlds, but you can't have everything ig lol
I've never actually played or seen anyone play this game before, looking forward to watching you play it!
Highly recommended you look up the 360 or ps3 version then because they are way better and have loads of things the ps2 and wii versions don't have

I think one possible reason for sonic being stretchy in werehog mode is cuz he kinda transforms into something similar to the monsters you fight at night and they can stretch , that's about it though lol.
This is my first time seeing Unleashed and I am so glad it is through the lens of Penny and Mar parroting every voice line
(also I stopped in the middle of this to watch Sparkle On, Raven! and my life is improved because of it)

I love that their designs for the villagers were just WHAT IF WE MADE HIM LONG like they really ran out of ideas maybe this is why they don’t have that many visually distinct humans in the same game at the same time

Much like Penny, the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed was the first sonic game I really remember playing and enjoying as a kid.
it's funny hearing penny say the day stages were her favorite I was the complete opposite, I grew up on the ps2 version and I thought the day stages were so boring I literally only wanted to play the werehog ones non stop

The movement in the night stages looks really fun, it'd be cool to see it with a more movement and momentum based combat
1:50:00-ish I'm happy to hear her point it out and cherish, celebrate that, and for my addition to such happy news, the fandubs made me appreciate the games again with the newfound joy I had long been wanting to return, and through them, it finally came back, a decent amount of that original desire bubbling into my mind as it once used to, despite being in the midst of the pandemic, as a slightly faded/off-time-but-never-fully-cut-off fan, even the voice actors, though you'd think it would only make me miss the fandubs and not regain passion for the originals that inspired the quality of said fandubs.
It also speaks to the, like, it's okay to nitpick and critique deeply the media you also love dearly, even the utterly unironic loves, because...of course you know it well and therefore you'll dig through all its bits and parts out of care and interest, to fully absorb all the satisfaction you can out of it.
Speaking of "speaks to," the VA's in fandubs capturing the spirit, perhaps the id of the original game/show VA's, which alights our dormant liking to the usual games' soundscapes, or, as she pointed out, sparks that flame for newbies to get into the franchise and fandom comfortably. 😊💓
