I just visited Syracuse university like a week ago and it’s one of my top schools because I want to become a political journalist this video really has helped me
This video was really helpful to me! At first, I was hesitated on whether I should chose public relations in Newhouse before submitting my application, but after watching your video, I decided to have a try on. Now I am admitted to Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, with a planned major in Public Relations for the fall 2020 semester! Thank you, Peyton❤️
Syracuse university is my dream college I want to do architecture. But I don’t do any sports or any extra curricular activities and I’m scared that might affect my college admittance.
If you're about to be a senior I would suggest doing some volunteer work or something like that. Any involvement in your community is helpful! Or just focus on your grades and make sure that they are the highest they can be!
You def need some elective it looks poopoo on your app unless you had a boat load of volunteer work trust me I play basketball lol they contacting me lol
I didn't do any extra curricular activities particularly and got in, but I was in an immersion program and did events for their culture but thats about it.
Couple of years ago I went back to Syracuse Univ and had lunch at Phoebe's. My waitress was a Newhouse grad who told me she did some photography for a local magazine. Needless to say, that wasn't enough to eat, hence her waitressing job. Probably well north of $100,000 in debt. Something to keep in mind: ANY university's job is NOT to help you get a job or even to prepare you for one. It is to MAKE MONEY, which SU does VERY well. If you happen to get a marketable job anyway, it's on you. Keep in mind that many of the academics are TAs or people who have little to no real experience actually doing what they teach...that's not just SU, it's anywhere. Stay sharp!
Be brutally honest with me: is an 1170 on the SAT good enough for Syracuse? I do a lot of activities around my school and my GPA is a 3.9 as well. I took the SAT again in early October but I don't know if it'll be too late to send in my new scores since I'm thinking about applying early
you have a really good chance! Your SAT definitely isn't the only thing they look for when accepting people and I know people here with SAT scores that are lower. Good luck !!
Jordan_K I was accepted with an 1060 on the SAT, but I applied for film. My GPA, which is 3.93, and portfolio definitely gave me the boost I needed. Something that I think really helped me too was my interview, it went extremely well. I also had a lot of extracurriculars and community service. Hope this helps! ☺️
Could you get in with a 3.375 unweighted accumulative gpa (I screwed myself over freshman year) but then junior senior year a 3.5 whilst taking IB finishing with a 34 and 1200 on the sat?
Thanks for the great tip! I’m currently an 8th grader and will be heading to high school soon. I’m in an program called AVID which prep us for college. Syracuse is my dream university! I want to major in Acting. I’m also a actor. I join this company which we do real shows and theatre. I got recommendations for honors science and English in high school. I also apply for AP human geo. Anyways thanks for the great tip. I was panicking.
Im also currently in 8th and i wanna prepare for college too. My dream job would to be architect and I researched different colleges for what they offered and requirements and I think Syracuse would be a great college to attend. I also want to go into the military too, but I’m torn between both so not really sure
Where else were you admitted to school? I know that you applied to the UC schools. I'm currently struggling to decide where to go to school between UCI and Syracuse. I have a full-tuition scholarship to UCI, and a full-ride to Syracuse. I feel like UCI has a better reputation as a STEM school but I'm not entirely sure. Please helpppppp!!
Hello, I am brazillian and I study Public Relations in one of the best schools in Brazil, I wanna get into Syracuse because of all the communication stuff it has got. Do you know if is there some fellowships to International Students?
Do you know one of the famous article writers in that university? Duncan Lambden. Is he a reliable source to put on research. I read his research about social media. I don't know who to confirm his identity. lol. thank you.
I´m a peruvian university student. I´m enrolled in the n1 university of my country and I graduated hs with an unweighted 3.75 GPA and got a 3.7 gpa on the first semester at uni and 4.0 on the second (I´m looking forward to keeping this 4.0 in the semester I´m currently taking), how likely is it for me to get into syracusse as a transfer student? I know it´s difficult to tell but still it would be good to know if it´s worth appylying or not
no you're totally fine! You can always transfer into Newhouse or minor in Newhouse, but all communications majors are in Newhouse. The closest option outside of Newhouse is the CRS major (communication and rhetorical studies) in the school of Visual and Performing Arts
I don’t know if you have knowledge about transfers but I go to FIT in nyc Rn and I’m going into my sophomore year. But after this year ends, I want transfer into one of Syracuse’s art programs. I don’t think I’ll need to submit my sat since I’ve been in college but I hope not because my score is BAD lol but do you think they still want those test scores if you’re a transfer? I hope my portfolio does justice😭
unfortunately I don't know a ton about transferring but I'm sure that if you have to submit your test scores your SAT score won't affect your admittance as much as it would if you were going to be a freshman here. As long as you're doing well now and have a good portfolio you should be fine! good luck !
I'm looking at going to Syracuse for graduate school, would I be able to be accepted if my current GPA is 3.73? Or is that out of the realm of possibility, do you think?
If I got a 1250 on my SAT score do you think I could get in? I live in Georgia and was wondering if you know of many people with or around that score?!
I wanna get into this school but my GPA is a 3.0 but I've done a lot of extracurriculars in high school but I'm pretty sure my GPA is gonna hurt my chances.
The supplements can be tough but I would suggest looking up examples of essays online just to get an idea of what you should include. If the essay prompt is asking you why you're choosing a specific school within Syracuse, then just do some research about the school and pick a few key points to mention as well as how those elements of the school would help you in the future! Hope this helps!
Honestly you need to stay on point and complete the video in less than 3 minutes. While you have good people’s skills, you could definitely improve your presentation skills. Please take this as constructive feedback.
