Appreciate the honest review. Fairly useful to know the capabilities of this type of microscopes. In regards to that movement, it has a very good looking train of wheels... gold?

You're welcome HP. Yes the higher end Val 72 movements have a rose gold colouring to them including the train of wheels (excluding the escape wheel).

I recently bought a scope similar to this one and have so far been impressed. I paid $87US for it, so not a big investment like I had with my AMScope. I find using it as I would the AMScope to actually turn screws is also ok-not excellent-but a great idea for travel if you're really into working on watches and travel too. Although not as good as the AMScope the video recording is again adequate. For the money it is a good addition to any watchmaker's bench.

Thanks for watching. Also great that you also have an Amscope so you can compare. For me I really only find this useful for observing work. I really found it challenging removing parts etc and really wouldn't like to service a complete watch only using this. Maybe it's just my eyes lol

@@HorologyBiology The AMScope was a huge learning curve especially hand-eye coordination. Once I got use to it I found it hard to not use the scope-all of my work now is done with the scope. I am not as close with this digital scope although I just got it a week or so ago. I think attaching an HDMI monitor, say 21" or so, may make it better since the attached 7" screen is too close. It's hard to learn to look away to pick up a screwdriver or tweezers then refocus on the scope/screen. IMHO, these digital scopes and binocular like scopes-AMSope-has upped my skill level. Thanks for the review.

I have a different model (made by Andonstar) that has a smaller stand and display. It is much too close to work under. I use it mainly to document where things go when disassembling a movement. I removed the scope body from the small stand and attached it to a R0DE PSA1 microphone boom arm with a 3D printed bracket. Now I can lower and use it and then move it up and out of the way. The stereo microscope is the way to go when working, especially doing the incabloc.

That's great to hear that you actually modified it to fit your purpose. Agreed on the stereo for working, it just comes across totally natural.

@@HorologyBiology I learned to solder microwave components under a stereo scope at work and it just seems to work well for me.
