I think it's absolutely fair to end every video with a quick "don't forget to like, comment and subscribe", many other content creators do that. I think you're right, a lot of people do forget and need the reminder. Ending that way gives the reminder but regular, long time viewers can skip that but still get all the great content they keep coming back for otherwise! Just my $ .02.
