New generations of vehicles never have all the features, it always takes a year or two after that before they come out with all the features like LED signal lights, dimming and power folding mirrors. etc. If they included everything with the first new generation vehicle no one would buy the later year models. :)
BIG EARL base model only allows cloth. Leather starts at the mid level XLE - there might be synthetic leather (softex) available on LE, can’t remember. Yes you can see your phone navigation on the screen through Apple CarPlay or android auto on any trim level 👍

Just got my 2021 Opulent Amber/harvest beige Limited yesterday and love it! Not quite the Platinum but still amazing. Traded our 2016 XLE for it. Very happy with the better ride, too plus all the safety features.
I have the 2020 Gray Metallic color Toyota Highlander Platinum and I Luv the Sport mode it handles really well on the road, the seats are so soft and comfortable during long rides very comfortable.
Shopping for a 2020-24 Highlander Platinum and your video has me sold on definitely getting one more room for a father of three. With all the things that are non LED that doesn’t bother me I can simply add LED bulbs on my own. I’d love one in Moondust Metallic with Glazed Caramel interior or Cypress Green with Glazed Caramel.
There is a way to turn off the blue ambient light. Go to the menu, vehicle customization, then lights. Turn off the interior auto time to off. This will turn off the interior lights even when the door is opened.

Not sure if the 2022's fix the interior (at least) incandescent lights, but that's one the several things that bug me about this car. We're looking at this or the Palisade (haven't decided) but I am not sure why they cut corners by using incandescent lights on both the interior and exterior. Especially at this price point, there's really no excuse. You didn't mention it, but can the ambient lighting color be changed? Also, is auto stop/start always on when you start the vehicle regardless if you turn it off? Great video btw.
Well. I'm not a gang type person to have the interior ambient light to stay on. I prefer privacy because people are nosy . Such wonderful details to point out
*The interior light is very soft and has short extension. It will not illuminate any far from where it gleams in the dark. Its purpose is only to illuminate the area where the light is focused on so that the car interior can still be visible to your eye, not only the bottons and switches.*
P S , the blinkers to turn left or right a dimensionality small for other drivers to notice it's blinking behind the Highlander more dangerous during the day at night the rear blinkers blend in the the rear lights. Alot of drivers out there don't wear glasses or even busy texting. The blinkers don't pop-out bright or long enough to be noticed . Well, you didn't build the vehicle
I can confirm that lower trim has lights that are I just way too high in my first week driving I had about five people flashing me highbeams so I had to adjust it myself because I hate going to the dealer but a lot of people don’t even bother
@@kristi5024 I found a video here on UA-cam, it is a little bit confusing but it is really easy once you take a look at it there’s a wheel there you spin to adjust up or down. My perfect level would be just below the other cars rearview mirrors. I found a big parking lot with not that many cars in it to verify that I got it right.

I applaud Toyota for the overall redesign. However, kinda sad about the areas in which they cheaped out, such as with the lighting in the rear and cargo area. I mean, I can understand the incandescent lighting in the interior, but I mean, no lighting in the cargo area? Incandescent lights for the tail lights and license plate? Come on, Toyata, you put all of these things on a 30-40 grand Rav4!
22Kevi yep I feel ya! Toyota did a lot with this new Highlander but there are definitely areas where they just blatantly bowed down to Lexus, I’m guessing lol. It like you said with the Rav...idk. Probably cuz the RAV4 is the top seller they wanted to keep it that way against CRV etc lol

Yes if I remember right it does seem to have a noticeable lag. I don’t think there was ever a time it was bad enough to really make much of a difference but it’s noticeable
How did you adjust the ambient lighting brightness? I’m having a tough time figuring it out? Also, is there a way to shut off the auto engine start instead of pressing that button every time i start the car???
Is there a way to dim the infotainment screen? I notice especially if you stop, turn off the headlights, that infotainment screen goes into daylight mode and is extremely blinding.

It's really shitty that the Canadian version does not have Self-levelling/Adaptive LED headlamps. I'm waiting for my Hybrid Platinum, and it's a little downer to know that it does not equipped with that feature...I would not hesitate to pay a little extra for that feature. Also, my salesman confirmed that my 2021 Hybrid Platinum has Road Signs Assistance/Recognition, but in ToyotaNation Forum, a Canadian guy seemed to agree that our(Canadian) version does not have RSA. My other 2020 Mazda 3 Sedan AWD GT Premium cost half of the 2021 Hybrid Platinum and it has all the Highlander's PLUS the Self-levelling & Adaptive LED Headlamps and RSA. Would I still buy the Highlander had I known? ...Probably....or, maybe wait for 2022 - they may(or may not) put those features in. It's still a beautiful car inside and out.
Honestly to tell, Highlander Infotainment Dashboard looks like an airplane control dashboard...too many things light up :)...I hope maybe 2023 or 2024 Toyota might bring some simplicities onto their Dashboard :) ..!!

Question: when you have the camera on in the rear view mirror, can the camera be dimmed while driving at night? Also when I test drove a limited, this has a really dangerous and large blind spot and coverage with just the rear view mirror was in my mind a bit unsafe.
It doesn't take long, the power on the car is very strong for the air conditioning. My dads 2020 Highlander is very quick at heating up the car. Mostly every new car has fast heating.

In the Highlander it is tight and good for what third Rows Are normally used for In this class of vehicle which would be: dogs, young children who are old enough to not be in a car seat, and the most popular use which is to fold them down for more cargo. At first glance The RXL looks similar in price but upon closer examination that is without any extras and you can’t even get the panoramic moonroof in the RXL. It’s pretty much useless without the $6000 luxury package added
This was a press vehicle - not mine lol. But the NX is much smaller and IMO not nearly as nice at the moment. The RX has the exact same power train, similar features, but is also a little smaller too. Depends on the buyers wants
Well, you can get a base model Q7 or a fully loaded Highlander. Audi is really bad at giving you any features on their Premium models, you have to step up to Premium Plus if you really want much of anything and at that point you’re crossing into 60K so the Highlander makes much more sense unless you care that much about what badge your car wears
Yea Toyota is always late with technology turn signal , analog instrument cluster etc..., on Siennas downgrade engine plus terrible design .Honda's long time removed gearshift handle WF is going on toyota.
It’s a shame even my 2011 Lexus ES 350 has adaptive lights and I’ll tell you this they don’t improve visibility, even Apple car play can be installed aftermarket with some mirroring technology, only buy this car if you want the interior redesign, 2017 Highlander is just a good even better aftermarket headlights, my aftermarket leds on mine can easily smoke these lights

Which one you think it's better between RX350L and highlander?
I would go Highlander. I feel it’s just as nice, a bit more practical and costs less. Same engine and transmission

Did the 20 inch wheels make you feel the bumps?
Yes the bumps were noticeable but overall still a nice ride
9:17 the front map lights are LED. I don’t see any fading when turning on or off.
Yep that’s my bad! I didn’t realize it, and I’m glad to see Toyota used a lower kelvin light so it’s not as harsh as most interior LEDs

Why would you pay 51K for this one when you can buy a fully loaded NX300 for that same amount? You can even get a RX350 for that money.
