I’m happy you are back, My personal belief is you do the best drone videos of the Tesla Gigafactory, your overview in the beginning is very helpful and I quite enjoy your music. I like it very much that you don’t show sections like the concrete Slab storage area.
The smaller details never escape your gaze, appreciate your passing on of knowledge.I will probably never be at the giga plant, but feel knowledgable regards the enormity of this massive structure. Thanks very.
Welcome back Randy. You were missed. We all like all members of the Squad. But this long without one member is brutal. Glad to hear your doing better. And the moving and coaching went well. Thanks for all your clips.
You have been missed dearly from us all, glad to hear your shoulder is better. It’s ok Randy to let everyone in on you are kinda famous, Sade wrote a song about you called “Smooth Operator”. You really do have skills in your drone flying, you always seem to get that special angle and you bring us the Giga Austin plant to us all and we thank you for that. When you are gone for a while, I realize you have made me spoiled rotten for Tesla Terafactory videos. Thank you and may you and your family have a great Thanksgiving next week.
No apologies Randy and Welcome Back! Great to hear everything is going well for you and we hope you have a very enjoyable holiday season with your family and friends 💪☕️😊🤠😎🚀🚀
Glad you’re back Randy hope everything at home is back in place. The sad truth is that the factory is almost completed. Not much change from Joe in the morning to you in the early evening. Maybe once they start building other buildings we could use a morning, afternoon, and evening update. Sorry…
Thank God, I watch others vids but yours are my go to. I just dig your style, especially the early points of interest right off the bat. Missed you bro lol.
Glad to have your day end roundup again Randy, your video is very clear, at 9:47 I can see that they are cutting the 36 prescribed holes as shown on the drawings. They are also following the instructions for the flow entry area with the winged concrete structure. The two 2' overflows are designed to give this pond a detention function with the final overflow flowing across the beds on the left of the pond to the outfall channel. Glad to have you back!
That's definitely the plan! Need to make sure this thing heals up correctly while I'm still relatively young as I know plenty of people who regret not doing all of their rehab and proper ramp up to normal activity when they had the chance. Thanks again and it's good to be back!
Randy ! What are you doing to us ? I gained more information about this site in your flight today than in all of the flights in the last 3 weeks. Information overload ! Good flying and perfect light and timing. Dessie is going to go crazy. Any way let me point out a couple of things, at 13:20 first time roof pitch can be seen and at 15:21 first picture of the complete south storm water management system.
Glad to see your video again, Randy. For some reason I always feel your videos have better color and crispness. I don't know why that is but very welcome. As Elton says, Dessie will be very pleased because also his 4 orange heavy-duty jacks are assembled outside (11:52) for all of us to see. Perhaps some equipment unloading to follow.
moved 7 times while in the Air Force, 3 additional times since. Always a pain in the glutes, couldn't imagine moving in addition to getting a little human repair at the same time. glad you're back and appreciate all your efforts.
So glad you're back Randy. Moving and shoulder injuries are bad enough, but together.....ugh! I echo what so many have been saying, by far the best video, commentary and music. Thank you for allowing us to following this marvel of modern engineering from afar.
Nice to see you back! I hope your son's football team had a successful season! Reminds of my elementary school fight song, "Oakmont, Oakmont on to victory/Day or Night we'll always fight for Brown and White/And march to Vic-tor-eeee!". The Philadelphia Eagles have NO IDEA what they missed when they did not sign me up for right end.
East pond -- @ 9:50 * (Lower right) Headwall being formed up. By excavator -- * Should begin building some kind of weir structure on top of grey matting soon. * Nearly all holes cut in flow spreader. * Placing final layer of dirt in sedimentation basin.
Add my welcome back to the chorus! Your videos are by far the best. When you get a chance, could you check out the charging area on west side... the large number of Model Ys there appear to be mostly clean (new looking) vehicles that might be initial production. If you can get close enough, might be able to see if they have license plates or new vehicle stickers on windows. Thousands of new vehicles could be stored out of sight in the Giga factory.
Hi Randy, hope your shoulder is better and the Fam is getting settled. I paused at the old Pond 2 because I had an idea. Could you one day fly at the Amazon building where their rainwater is directed? I recall seeing a concrete outlet which spit out into something. That bldg is much smaller than this, but it'd be cool to compare. Someone did this long ago. I don't know who or this ask would be irrelevant... anyway, now to unpause...
Hey James! That was actually me that first flew at the Amazon site while it was under construction a while back. I for sure remember how their rainwater drainage was directed and it's NOTHING compared to what we see going on here. The largest detention ponds at Amazon are sloped berm sided pits and inside of them are a series spaced out concrete channels at each pipe opening that empties into the pond. I can't recall how many openings there are, but it's literally a series of openings, each with a channel (formed to carry water though where the center is lower than the sides) of concrete to carry water towards a main channel that then carries the water to the city sewer system. It's definitely adequate and elegant for the conditions and environment, but we can all agree that what Tesla built on was the worst of the worst and called for such an extreme engineered solution, which I can't wait to see handle water once it's finished! The soil is your typical soil found in most places at the Amazon plant and not the kind beneath the Tesla factory where water takes forever to drain, so it's highly unlikely that the pond at the Amazon facility will ever be even halfway full except during and immediately after heavy sustained rains, but will quickly subside within day with the current drainage setup. If you go back and watch my #40 video at around the 27:45 mark, you'll be able to see it. Hope this helps!
@@TerafactoryTexas Excellent, thanks for the description & info. By the way, 2 Amazon facilities are being built in my area. Alcoa, TN (yes, the aluminum( and Knoxville, TN. Alcoa is a fulfillment center and the Knoxville one is a last mile station which I read will use their electric trucks. Thanks again.
Great to have you back, Randy!! Amazing just how good of a job you do capturing actual activity compared to status; there were things I couldn’t figure out from other videos that magically you make clear in one shot. Thanks!
Glad you're back, now I'm able to resume my normal morning routine. I agree with the other comments, you show more in your flyover in anybody else and having it at the end of the day is wonderful to see the progress from the other videos.
East pond outfall channel -- @ 11:19 * (Bottom of screen) Two metered pond overflow pipes look like they need some kind of structure to terminate the ends. @ 11:38 * (Bottom of screen, riprap patch on right) If you look closely, you can see 6" PVC collection grid drain sticking out into channel.
That should be very low velocity water, so not sure how much more they will need to do. I would have thought the pipe would be “finished” when the rip-rap was laid.
@@patrickkenny2077 I get what you're saying but I hate to see 50 feet of pipe out in the open. They should at least cover it. The other thing they should do right away is line the channel with more riprap, or at least lay down a grass mat. Like TxDOT did by the freeway ramps. Or the next time it rains, the perfect sides of the channel will look like crap due to erosion.
Hello, I hope you are feeling better now? and that your move when smoother that you hoped. Nice to see you back. Keep well, keep safe and find some time for fun.
South pond area -- @ 15:04 * (Bottom of screen) South pond outfall/overflow drain. @ 16:33 * (Back side of retaining wall) Wide section of footing/pile cap will support splitter box to pond outfall structure. @ 17:20 * (Splitter box) Weir forms removed before concrete pour. Apparently some issue to be worked out.
David, at 16:33 the structure on the north side of the wall could be an area where the feed pipes that need to be above the bottom of the three 1' drains enter. This would cause the fall from the pipes to be on the concrete floor with a even flow into the forebay. Maybe also put the pump here. Just a guess.
@@eltonray2934 Elton, I agree 100 percent. Having the water fall inside a concrete structure dissipates energy and protects the pond bottom from being ripped up by water coming out of two large 8' diameter pipes and dropping down 6 or 7 feet.
@@eltonray2934 Elton, Page 53, sheet 157 of 166 is another example of an error in the plans. Notice that it shows the 8' diameter pipes coming the wall and emptying directly into the pond from an elevation of 397.6', with water dropping to 391.5'? No riprap either! How long would the pond bottom last in a major rainstorm?
@@DavidJohnson-tv2nn Yes David, that is what I was talking about, has always worried me. Also the forebay will catch sediment and have to be cleaned, flat floor would be nice.
