    The same factory in China makes these things. One batch is branded Yeti. The next batch is branded Ozark. The next batch RTIC.

      Kevin Thomas A lot of products are like that, as you know I'm sure. My mom used to tell me that many designer clothes are like that except for the label and care is taken to clip the hanging threads and to avoid even slight imperfections. Soo off to Wal-Mart I go.😊

      Actually no they are made in China. Their website says cups are made in China. yeti.com/faq/ you're wrong B Ras. Only the coolers are manufactured in the US.

    I have two Ozark Trail 30 oz tumblers and I work outside in San Antonio with about 100 degree heat and ice lasts all day as long as you refill it with very cold water . Great tumblers .

    My friend gave me the original Yeti for my bday. I love it! I can put ice in my cup at 7am before I go to work and throughout the day just keep refilling with water. I don't put new ice into my cup until at least 7pm when I'm relaxing after work, and even then the original ice is usually still evident. That being said, this same friend bought two of the Walmart ones and they hold up the exact same!

    Not a knock off... Unless you agree that the Yeti is a knock off of the original Thermos tumbler.
    It's just another brand of double walled/insulated tumbler.
    That said, I love my Ozark Trail. Works just as good as the Yeti, but for 1/3-1/4 the price

    I have the Ozark Trail 30 oz ($10 at Walmart) and it works fantastic! There is no way I would spend the ridiculous amount of money for a Yeti when the Ozark works just the same. So, save some money and pick up the Ozark Trail.

      It's a pretty old design based on the double walled vacuum flasks of old. So you can probably pick up a double walled vacuum flask with a lid you can open to drink out of, for very cheap and it'll keep cold/hot for 12/24 hours depending on the design.
      I've just seen these on Amazon UK, 2 for £13 (US$17); that's cheap consider it includes our 20% sales tax.

      Yep I have one, bought one for my brother 12 bucks each. They are under 10 now. I use mine 24/7. Hot drinks STAY hot and cold drinks take forever to melt ice. Does not water down soda as long as it's already reasonably chilled.

    From what I find, the value comes in not just the yeti name but the quality and the materials. I almost bought the Ozark Trails Rambler but then I read on the reviews that the OT lids pop off. The lid isn’t insulated like the Rambler Lids. They just have styrofoam.
    I also thought I got a faulty Rambler and they sent me another.

      I like the name, not the price. Still considering buying one to see if there's a point. I've had Ozark trails before. Loved them. I have a Yukon outfitters tumbler that works just as well. An Extremus. Fact is unless it has the brand name BUILT, it will work fine. Temp is the real factor prior to putting the ice and drink in. Also I like the Ozark logo. It's nice. I am still thinking of getting a Yeti to try out. If it performs no different significantly I'm returning it.

  • @andrew1364

    they're made in the same factory. the 30oz yeti is the exact same as the 30oz Ozark, as well as the 30oz RTIC tumbler

  • @MrChainrule
    @MrChainrule 5 років тому

    Get a cheap kitchen scale, tare it with the cup and weigh out the ice so you have an equal amount in each, then weigh the melted water from each at the end for an accurate comparison. Mass is the best way to compare the before and after results.

  • @gatorblue11
    @gatorblue11 8 років тому

    I will say that my husband got an Ozark trail cup from his brother and it fell apart the very first time he used it. The yeti at least has a warranty for 5 years. I know I could buy like 4 ozarks for the price of the Yeti but it's annoying when you buy decals to personalize them and lose those as well.

    Yeti is actually suing quite a few companies about the patents on those cups. I don't know what's going on. How Ozark and RTIC are getting away with selling the same exact design is beyond me. I know I'll be in Walmart getting me an Ozark cup.

  • @JoniWagner

    The melt water is only accurate if you counted the ice cubes and put the same in each.

    • @JoniWagner

    • @johnhandcock3242

      The ice cubes would need to be identical, which isn't likely. It's a moot pt though, as this test is good enough to show they have comparable performance.

    • @jebriale9264

      Joni Wagner we all know you have a yeti .... You overpayed get over it.

    • @MrChainrule
      @MrChainrule 5 років тому

      It looked like ice from a refrigerator ice maker so the cubes should be similar but they need to be weighed to get identical amounts since they could have varying quantities of gas or other particulates.

    Thanks for the review! My sister-in-law has a Yeti (which she loves), but when I researched and discovered how much they cost, I was like, "I'll just refill my ice." :) But ten dollars I can do. Anyway, immediately went to order online, and they are out. However, the locator told me a nearby Walmart Neighborhood Market had them, and I stopped in this morning. They had an entire display! I purchased one for each member of my household, plus an extra for a gift. We are traveling soon to your area for summer vacation, so I am pumped! Thanks again!

However, not 56 hours, but then I don't care about that long either. Ozark Trail is not a "knock off", from what I understand is that Yeti let the patent lapse, so anyone that wants to can make their version.(IMO Knock off means an illegal version, which OzarkTrail is not.) I have the Ozark Trail and love it. Works just as good as the Yeti, but 1/4 price. I've also heard, and this is a rumor, that they are both made side by side in the same factory, just sold through different companies.

    a low thermally conductive plastic bottle made the same way would own YETI. its all about thermally isolating the fluid from the environment (these metal tumblers use a vacuum as the insulating layer; however, since metals are generally much more thermally conductive than plastics, these YETI things are a complete waste of money.

    I did the same test with the 30 oz tumblers. I put equal numbers of ice cubes in each tumbler and let them sit on the kitchen counter for about 8 hours. The same amount of water was measured for each product. Pretty sure that it's safe to say that they are both made in the same factory in China. $9.97 for the Ozark versus $40.00 for the Yeti. I went out and.bought six more Ozark tumblers.

    I bet they are good. But what about when you use them all day and open them up?

      My husbands ice lasts almost all day with multiple water refills! I need to test out that as well. Maybe I'll do a follow up video. 😊

      I have an Ozark and I fill it up with ice around 7:30am before leaving for work. I refill with water probably 3-5 times while at work ,and STILL have ice in my cup at 3pm in the afternoon.

      I just purchased the 30 ounce Ozark Trail for $9.74 at Walmart, I use it all day with crushed ice refilling it with room temperature water bottles at least 4 to 5 times a day. I live in Louisiana, it's always hot and humid outside lol it typically lasts me my entire 8-hour workday then I top off the ice before I leave work and I still have ice at bedtime. It will normally melt that night but the water is still cold in the morning. Great purchase, buying one for my boyfriend as a gift soon. I know people with Yetis that swear by it but mine works just as good.

    I can't understand why this is so shocking to people. I own an Ozark Trails and my wife owns a Yeti. They are identical! They are both made in China! What are the chances that they are made on the same exact assembly line, using the same exact method and the same exact materials? I would say those chances are pretty dang high! The only difference is the logo that is stamped in to each of them. The bottom line is this; the marketing department at Yeti deserves some sort of huge award for suckering everyone in to believing that these are superior tumblers. They had their awesome coolers to back up this claim, and yes...they are legit (I still wouldn't pay that much for a cooler though).

    They are BOTH made in the same factory. That's why Yeti is suing Walmart

    Ok people, this is how the manufacturing of products work. Yeti or some guy invented the technology that makes this product awesome. Yeti or some guy patent the technology. Yeti charges $50 for their product. Yeti then licences their technology to manufacturer's and they make these so called "knock off" products like Ozark. Then Ozark sells theirs for $10. So people think that Ozark is going to put yeti out of business. No. What yeti is doing is double dipping because they are making money from licensing their technology and from people who will still fork out $50 for their product which is the exact same product as the $10 Ozark. Companies have been doing this for a million years. Now that I have seen this video I am going to Walmart to buy one of these Ozark beverage holder.

      There no patent for the technology, in fact it, you wouldn't call it technology really. Vacuum flasks were invented in the late 1800s. Thermos has been using it for over 100 years. I guess the vacuum seal could be patented?

      Exactly, even the Stanley thermos that everyone's dad or granddad has is the same design. Can't patent a dewar.
