Cadillac was ahead of its time with the 1967 El Dorado with the hidden headlights . I love that one white on white. But yes the 67 through 1970 one of the best designed Cadillacs ever.

We interrupt this program for a special News Bulletin I have never seen an Eldorado like this Menace will definitely look good in my collection because all I collect is low mileage cars anyway l o u we're having a Buick olds Cadillac show coming up this summer I'll keep you informed once again back to my call story
What a beautiful survivor I had driven one of those cars before you’ll never know the ride and handling unless you experience one personally thanks, Lou❤
True, I remember riding in the back seat of a 70 just like that except in sky blue. It rode like a pillow but give it gas and your head goes back, plus it handled nice on turns except I would literally slide from one side of the back couch to the other. That was a good memory from the early 80's. I wish I could have bought it, but it was $10k.
It doesn't get any better than this '70 Eldorado (San Mateo Red with double White!) and thanks for sharing it on Lou's channel!!! Simply a magnificent automobile!
These Cadillacs were VERY special automobiles ! Never again to be seen - Wow ! For what it is worth , from a Cadillac technician of old . Super vehicles .
El Dorado and Toronado were the stage coaches,,then came the waterbeds ( Lincoln's) lol When Lou pressed the accelerator,,one gallon of gas was burned lol

This one brought back memories! When I was a kid there was a woman in our town who drove a 1970 Eldorado. Actually, Shirley was a very large woman - not fat -but large. She didn't so much drive the Eldorado as wear it. A friend of my dad's commented to him one day, "Harold, I'd rather run into General Patton in a Sherman tank than Shirley Rassmussen in that Cadillac"!

Hah!! Now that’s a great “Dad Joke” (or Grandpa Joke). There was a Three Stooges episode where they worked at a gas station. The 3 pumps were labeled Ethyl, Becky, and Shirley. 😂
An amazing survivor when Cadillacs were known as the “Standard of the World!” It’s possible that that square panel to the left of the fuel gauge was for the “automatic headlamp dimmer control.” I’m glad you featured the battery, because they were equipped then with a “Delco-eye.” When one of the caps glowed “green,” you knew it was “fully-charged.”
Beautiful Eldorado! And it came from DeSimone, the local Cadillac dealer. My brother's beautiful '70 Coupe de Ville also originally came from DeSimone.

Damn! That is one sweet car! Lou, you continue to outdo yourself with each episode! Magnificent Cadillac! White interior to go with the beautiful red paint and white vinyl roof. This is a classic design.
I did not realize that they offered the leveling suspension that far back course. I’m sure it was offered on maybe another model of some thing but I had never seen it my Cadillac, but I seen a 58 Impala that was supposed to have had that option, but I did not get a chance to verify it.
Lou, I enjoyed both videos for this beautiful Eldorado. The 1967 - 1970 Eldorado is my second-most favorite car design of all time. Only the 1966 - 1970 Toronado tops it. I would look at the photos of both in my car magazines and dream of my father owning one (never happened). Bob Hallstrom's is incredible!
Hi, Lou! I sure enjoy remembering these big, beautiful early '70s General Motors automobiles. What a treat to see & hear this Cadillac, thanks for another enjoyable episode of My Car Story. I always loved GM's personal luxury designs, this is one of the very finest and so was the first early Buick Rivieras from 63 to 65, my fav is the 65, had one of THE best looking dashes and interiors of the era and the most beautifully integrated consoles with the dash ive ever seen. Find a nice Stage 1 model and its a true gentlemans hot rod luxury and style with real power.
Hi yambo59, Happy to read "I always loved GM's personal luxury designs :-) Good news! You're on the right UA-cam Channel for the cars you enjoy. Here is that 1965 Riviera GS you enjoy, Lou ua-cam.com/video/CiaD2VMcO4Y/v-deo.html
That sure is a beautiful Eldo! Even back in the 80s and 90s, I was always impressed with "old" cars that were this "new". It's doubly impressive now, considering it's age. The one thing that I think GM screwed up with on the original '66 Toronado and then the original '67 Eldorado, was even THINKING ABOUT putting vinyl tops on them. Their original design concepts were absolutely gorgeous and those vinyl tops really bulked them up too much... That line running from stem to stern is one case in point... The top covers up that subtle detail on the steel roof. There are also really "knife edge" folds on the left and right sides of the Eldorado's roof that are now hidden. Otherwise... That's one gorgeous NEARLY NEW Cadillac!
What a superb survivor '70 Eldorado. Museum quality. I can remember back when this was a new car, and in those days if you had a car like this parked in your driveway, you were definitely the envy of your neighbors.
Great car !! My Mom had one... Maroon metallic with a white top & brown leather interior... When we were kids, she would race any muscle car that pulled up beside us...that car would smoke the tires light to light... That Eldorado would beat them so bad they wouldnt even get next to us at the next light... 500 ci, factory rated @ 400hp but more like 600 ft lbs of torque... Cool feature about the radio...when you went from AM to FM, the actual dial face would flip over showing either the AM or FM dial...

Amazing. The last of the elegant Eldorados. I've always been stumped at how bloated and ungainly the '71 restyle looks compared to this, yet the actual exterior dimensions were roughly the same! Fascinating the shape of that long cooling hose running over the compressor and top of the engine. Of course, the competition for this car was the Mark III, and the car mags tended to like driving this but found the Mk III more 'old school money' looking. For me it'd be a tough choice. One of my uncles owned one of these back then when I was in high school and I drove it several times. I really liked the ride, though it was more firm than the RWD Cadillacs. Kudos to this gentleman for preserving an amazing, beautiful car--and thanks, Lou, for filming it!

Lou, my buddy in high school who came from a well to do family had a brand new 1970 Eldorado & would do the best front tire smoky burnouts in the parking lot ever! lol, great video
My first caddy at age 25 was 1973 Sedan deville Cream color brand new for $8500 .. next car was 1989 Eldorado ruby red with white top simulator . Now Iam 77 driving 2015 Mitsubishi outlander sport.. those were the good days my friend😢

What a beautiful Caddy Lou! This has to be the “king” of trunk and treats! I lived in Ashtabula, OH area for 10 years. Ashtabula Bow Socket manufactured the convertible tops for the “land yacht” years of the Cadillac Eldorado until production stopped. Huge economic impact for the Ashtabula area. Thank you again, Lou!
Hi, Lou! 500 cubic inches...400 horsepower...550 pound-feet...Yep, that is one big, honkin' engine to go with that big, honkin' horn, and it uses them all! Obviously, the original owner knew he had something special on his hands, having kept it for over 50 years from new, and Bob's old buddies with their Mustangs and Camaros all got a nice comfortable ride during the winters! Many thanks, Lou and Bob for giving us all the chance to explore this styling masterpiece and letting us feel all the cubes, horses and torque!
Beautiful car and thanks for sharing Bob and for featuring this one, Lou! Don't know if your going to be at the MCACN show this weekend but if so looking forward to meeting you! I'll be there on Saturday!
This car is one of my favorites. What is the deal with the body? Under hood it says body by Fischer 5:10 Then inside the door it says body by Fleetwood 13:50. Curious stamping but beautiful car nonetheless

Wow Lou! I love these jewels. I saw a 67 Coupe DeVille on the road a couple of days ago. It was aqua color. White convertible top. The Pontiac division had the Grand Am, 7.5 litre at this time era also. Thanks to you guys that are making these videos for the present, as well as the people from the past to learn and remember the cars of our past. Happy Holidays everyone! 🦼
Hi Danny, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Glad to read you saw a 1967 Coupe DeVille a couple of days ago...NICE! My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
nice car I remember reading an article about the removal of the hidden headlights - the designer stated that headlights, when properly done - are like "jewels" and are assets that add beauty I agree

I have to say the 1968 Eldo's hidden headlights made for the best look though they were a bear to keep working properly since there were two vacuum motors that would frequently fail.

Eldorados had "Eldorado horns". Our 68 Fleetwood had it as an option. This as good as it gets. Wow. Owner #1 did her right. Right down to the pin striping on the body accents.
I had a 70 and used to routinely smoke the front tires at stop lights....other motorists thought the engine was on fire! In addition to burning off the tread, the car was so heavy in front, that it would destroy the tire belts and structure such that they would become wobbly and distorted. Admittedly, I was using cheap tires. Also had dual glass pack exhaust installed, you could hear me coming a mile off! The later Eldos had lower compression and were so much less powerful.

Hey Lou, What An Awesome Caddy!! Man would I love to drive this baby!! I had a 73 Coupe DeVille and a 98 Sedan DeVille and miss those cars, nothing rides like a Cadillac. I still have a bit of nostalgia and it has some torque but not a luxury car... An 89 Pontiac Formula Firebird with 88k original miles. I bought it in 1999 and I am the 3rd owner. Thanks for sharing this experience and take care 👍‼️🙂😺

Damn! That is one sweet car! Lou, you continue to outdo yourself with each episode! Magnificent Cadillac! White interior to go with the beautiful red paint and white vinyl roof. This is a classic design.
Hi ultraviolet tp, High praise. My pleasure sharing this car with you. Lou
I did not realize that they offered the leveling suspension that far back course. I’m sure it was offered on maybe another model of some thing but I had never seen it my Cadillac, but I seen a 58 Impala that was supposed to have had that option, but I did not get a chance to verify it.
Hi James, Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Lou
The 1967 Eldo also offers the self leveling, first year I believe
Lou, I enjoyed both videos for this beautiful Eldorado. The 1967 - 1970 Eldorado is my second-most favorite car design of all time. Only the 1966 - 1970 Toronado tops it.
I would look at the photos of both in my car magazines and dream of my father owning one (never happened). Bob Hallstrom's is incredible!
Mike, TOP 2! NICE! Happy to share this one with you, Lou
Hi, Lou!
I sure enjoy remembering these big, beautiful early '70s General Motors automobiles.
What a treat to see & hear this Cadillac, thanks for another enjoyable episode of My Car Story.

Great review. Owner is a nice guy and provided a lot of insight. Nothing like a Caddy and a Time Machine.
Hi Dino A, Happy to share this car with you :-) Lou

Hi Slick, High praise. Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
What a superb survivor '70 Eldorado. Museum quality. I can remember back when this was a new car, and in those days if you had a car like this parked in your driveway, you were definitely the envy of your neighbors.
"What a superb survivor '70 Eldorado. Museum quality." High praise.
You probably had a mansion with a garage for it, too.
Beautiful old Cadillac Lou God Bless.
Hi Leroy, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Blessings received. God bless you too, Lou

What a Beauty ! Best color combo I’ve ever seen.
Happy to read "What a Beauty ! Best color combo I’ve ever seen." :-)
Hi LoveIsAll, Happy to read "Amazing" :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car you were able to drive. NICE! Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
I would say these were better looking than the body style that came after starting in 1971
Happy to read you enjoy this body style.
Man that is nice,, those Eldorado instrument panels and interiors really don't age well but when they're pristine they're really sweet..
Hi 2packs4sure, Happy to read "Man that is nice," :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou

Hi Steven, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You're welcome, Lou

My favorite Cadillac
Happy to read this is the Cadillac Winner for you :-)
Hi iswc27, Happy to share this "styling masterpiece" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou

This car is one of my favorites.
What is the deal with the body? Under hood it says body by Fischer 5:10 Then inside the door it says body by Fleetwood 13:50. Curious stamping but beautiful car nonetheless

Thank you for sharing your research.

Hi Kenneth, Happy to read "LOVE IT" :-) Lou
nice car I remember reading an article about the removal of the hidden headlights - the designer stated that headlights, when properly done - are like "jewels" and are assets that add beauty I agree

I have to say the 1968 Eldo's hidden headlights made for the best look though they were a bear to keep working properly since there were two vacuum motors that would frequently fail.
Lou small over site the emergency brake releases when put into gear. Is the Mateo a Fire Mist color? Thanks
San Mateo is not a Firemist color

Excellent car, great presentation.
I wonder if you could have ordered it without a vinyl top in 1970 to get a better look...?
I think the steel roof looks SO much better on this generation of Eldos. But padded roofs were all the rage.
Hi 67marlins, Happy to read "Excellent car, great presentation." :-) Hmmm, not sure if you can get one without a vinyl top. Lou
Eldorados had "Eldorado horns". Our 68 Fleetwood had it as an option. This as good as it gets. Wow. Owner #1 did her right. Right down to the pin striping on the body accents.
Hi Robert, Happy to read "This as good as it gets. Wow." :-) Lou

71 still had a lot of power too but not as much the 70 eldorado
Hey Lou, What An Awesome Caddy!! Man would I love to drive this baby!! I had a 73 Coupe DeVille and a 98 Sedan DeVille and miss those cars, nothing rides like a Cadillac. I still have a bit of nostalgia and it has some torque but not a luxury car... An 89 Pontiac Formula Firebird with 88k original miles. I bought it in 1999 and I am the 3rd owner. Thanks for sharing this experience and take care 👍‼️🙂😺
Hey William, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your 73 Coupe DeVille & 98 Sedan DeVille :-) Glad to read you're enjoying your fun Firebird. Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
