Before she explained it, I thought the blue fabric that bundles up under the corset would drop down into a full skirt, but this transformation really took me by surprise. The pink is lovely, the skirt looks so snazzy when she's spinning.
I think the purpose of the blue roll is to act as a 'filler' - to bolster out the sides of the ball gown since she can't wear heavy petticoats

The dress in the Disney movie was silver, there are books with it red and green even pink!
It's really cool because it's completely different and eye-catching this way! It looks magical enough to make you gasp at the reveal whereas blue dropping down wouldn't have had the same spectacular effect either for the colour contrast or for highlighting exactly what is going on and how vast the transformation actually is.
Having blue in the original also adds some nice colour to her usual outfit and makes her stand out more as a main character even while her clothes are supposed to be plain, shown by the muted colours of the first dress.
Most of the people arguing that the dress should be blue because of the Disney movie probably don’t know that it’s actually silver in the movie
With just a tint of blue i think thats why they thought it was blue but yeah its amazing

Anna Therese Gundersen nope, the og was silver. The advertised ones are blue bc they didn’t want kids to look like they were wearing wedding dresses.
Normally these dresses look awkward before the transformation and cheap after the transformation. This looks beautiful before and after!

Ikr, like it's stupid to argue that the dress color is bad (This is a different version/interpretation of Cinderella, they can do whatever the want. Plus it just undermines the pure hard-work and talent that went into making the dress and transformation). But I've yet to see a single comment saying it was bad, which is even weirder

The original dress from the movie was actually silver/white, not blue. It got rebranded as blue for marketing because Disney didn’t want a bunch of little girls dressing up in what could be mistaken as a wedding gown :)

Well, I've actually never seen the Disney version of Cindrella (yeah, don't judge me 😂). I'm from the CZ and there is no "blue dress history". I had a book where the dress was golden, in other one it was green. I don't really care. The only think I can say is, that I'm just endlessly impressed by this!! 👏

The design and flat out engineering for this piece is astounding. It needs to be reusable, endure dancing and other performance rigors, cover everything, and still be light enough to not hinder the performer while looking elegant. Well done seamstresses and seamsters.
What's impressive to me is that that dress pops out with ZERO wrinkles after being tucked up like that.

There is an old version of the Cinderella story where she attends 3 balls on 3 nights to meet Prince Charming. 1st night pink dress 2nd night blue, 3rd night silver/white. That's the night she's late and loses the slipper. That may also be the version where the sisters cut off their toes with a kitchen knife to fit into the slipper.

I really dislike this weird culture of having to “stan” every little thing or else you’re considered hateful. fun fact of the day! did you know that the dress Cinderella originally going to wear was her mother's dress, and the colour is pink? the same colour as the dress in this video indeed! isn't it sweet that fairy god mother fixed the dress without changing its colour? giving Cinderella some form of familiarity with the dress?
Well in the Disney version she is going to wear that dress but her evil stepsisters rip it to shreds after the are jealous of how pretty she looks and then she can't go. The good fairy fixes it by giving her a beautiful silver one with glass slippers to match

@@PinkMelatonin it was actually silver (ish?), yes, and only seems like a blue gown in some scenes, but disney marketing team decided to make all merchandise using only blue color (for whatever reasons), so it stuck
astronaut fun fact! It was silver in the movie but they changed it to blue because it was easier to make blue dresses to sell to little girls because silver fabric was rare and/or more expensive.
The transformation of the dress is the most impressive part, I don't care what color the dress is, besides the color changes depending on what version of cinderella you're watching.

Well, most people would be spotting while they spun around. (Spotting in theatre/dance means to stare at a certain spot until the last possible moment before you have to turn your head, and flicking it straight back to that spot while spinning. Sometimes it's used for pregnant people during labour so it kinda gets their mind off the pain, but us thespians/dancers just use it so we don't get dizzy lol)

In the Disney Cinderella her dress was pink before it was blue. Her stepsister tore her pink dress up, and then her godmother made her the silver/blue one.

I beleive that during the actual performance they should dim the lights on that moment to keep the feel of the magical illusion. We won't be able to see her hands doing all the work! Still preety cool! Love it

there isnt really much options when making a transforming dress, that's why. They chose the easiest way, to stuff the dress inside of the other.
