Nice vid! Greater invis used to be 90% damage reduction but it was in the time when they did pvp nerfs they also carried over to pve. As tech dev got better and they could figure out how to get pvp nerfs in that didn’t affect pve the greater invis issue was long forgotten. For years I’ve harped on them to get it back to 90% in pve and the full 20 sec but it’s still at 60% Prob my favorite spell in the game and at one time was totally epic!
Mirror Image + Great Invis together makes 80% reduction of damage

Thx for this great guide! I've got a question about Ice Nova usage as a frost mage. You sayed it's worth it for root or ice nova into ice lance combo, but what about Ice Nova before the Frost Bomb explode into Ray of Frost or Frost Bomb + Flurry into Comet Storm + Ray and Ice Nova before the explosion of the frost bomb? Is it worth to use or need to keep ice nova for root most of the time? Thank you!

Question on greater invis. Is the advice still the same about holding off on it even if there is a hunter on the opposing team? For, and I'm not that good, going out without invis against a hunter makes the match much more difficult.

do the same as said in the video, they have limited amount of grips and basically no mobility. You should be able to scape at some point.

I think the idea of time to heal a mage in a way is cool, but it should be only one ice block and it should've been in all of wow

You seem to have left out the insane amount of stuns that you can't get out of with shimmer.

alter is a defensive cooldown, and has priority over ice blocks. It's basically game sense, if you can survive with alter alone, just use it.

As BM hunter you still die to my 50 pets no matter how much you try and kite.
In a small arena (forgot the name), there is only one pillar (not exactly a piller, more like a higher and bigger table), I got chased by a warrior, i got stun almost all the time and couldn't find a time to attack. How to solve this problem...
As Frost you should have no problem to constantly snare and root only one melee.
Even 2 melees are not a real Problem with Double Ice nova and snowdrift PvP talent

at the time he uploaded the video displace was not the go-to talent.
This helped me realize why i can never catch a good mage in arena 🤣
and each time you use one of those you get hit for 40k by a ""melee"" 10mt away, when you finished using em all you're at 40% hp, with no more ice blocks and all on cooldown. meanwhile shaman, priest, druid, evoker, paladin and dk can fill their hp up, and you're fucked ;)

Crazy that mages easily kite all melee, dhs, wws dont matter, regardless of skill. Can't tell the dif between r1 mage kiting and duelist, cuz its so forgiving. Just can perma kite them, even low-tier mages kite r1 melee. They just braindead press alter in the opener so they can't counter-pressure. if you dont have a purge ur AOL.
Need to prune mage mobility. Ontop of the slow remove, making the very few times you can conncet all but void since you're perma slowed and they just remove thiers.
Either remove it, or make fel rush and roll remove slows like it used too.

You're delusional to say that duelist and r1 mages are the same in therms of kiting. Also the game's not balanced around 1v1s, which means that a r1 healer will make it possible for their r1 melee teammates to catch a r1 mage at crucial points of the match.
There's less of a gap than you realize. The point is that its so over-flooded with mobility, and CDR/Gap wideners that you dont actually need to use the min a good sequence to maximize your kiting of a melee. A low teir mage (2100-2400) can literally use their mobility 50% as good as a R1 mage, and still will end up the same distance away from the target, reset all the cds, blast you away, and do it all again.
The main difference comes from a bad arcane mage as an example will do no dps while doing it, while a good one will.@@glndopangamer
@@Telarius the same way that a 2100-2400 melee can use their mobility 50% (I have no idea where did you get this from) as good as a r1 melee.
The game in general is flooded with too much mobility. Eg: ferals, dhs, monks, dks have a billion grips.
It's kinda odd to ask only for mage mobility nerfs.
The difference is when ranged become untouchable. It becomes a battle between balance.
What is a ranged class that only uses 90% instant cast spells? And also more mobility than any melee? I'll tell you.
It's a ranged melee. It has all the strengths of a melee (Spam instant casts) But not the downside of requireing to be in in melee range.@@glndopangamer
So everytime melees get a new charge, mages get a new escape. Feels like AoE root and blink was more then enough back in the days.

completely normal level of mobility on mages, can't keep up on my dh i can't imagine what some immobile dps player is feeling against mages
sounds cool but in reality you get 4 second stunned and die
that's why you have a trinket and if it's on cd, ice block, the best defensive cd in the game.

I appreciate your effort here but it’s unrealistically simple.
You didn’t mention the million micro CCs, the melee popping immunities to slow, the 3x death grips at 40 yards, going against more than one target etc.
Sadly this is a common theme among pro players.
do as he said in the video, no matter what class the enemy team is playing, even dks and feral druids, you should be able to see some success.

Kinda funny how he mentions all of those and still skipped a bunch of other ways to survive/escape like Displacement/IceBlock/Poly/RoFrost/Mirror Images. Mage toolkit is extremely bloated rn, they need to have like 3 of those abilities just straight up deleted or moved to the spec trees instead of class tree.

Who even balances this game in pvp… nerfs that don’t make sense, buffs that aren’t called for, and classes that need nerfed don’t get touched..
Then when they do “balance” it’s drastic changes instead of subtle changes over time to see how it affects game play. Seasons are 6 months.. small changes could be done each week to adjust for balance
