Can you help with this question? I watched a video from the event out of TN, and in their video it gets shadowy, then within in 1 minute it goes from a bit of shadows to full on dark. I asked if that was what happened or the camera's auto filters kicking in, but no reply. In the actual area of totality does it go shadowy, then in less than a minute total darkness and reverse on the other side? If it's the camera reaction then the video is not much use to me, but if that is how it goes, then that video is dark gold.
Before we see the total eclipse, it is necessary to place special filters in front of the lens of the camera, or the camera will be damaged or destroyed. Then when we are really close to totality and during totality, we can remove the filter otherwise we wouldn't see much.

There won't be another total eclipse until 2026, but there will be an annular eclipse in South America in October. I want to travel to see it. An annular eclipse looks like it would be really cool to see as well.

Spain (smaller than Texas) will have two total and one annular in 17 months! 12 Aug 2026 (total), 2 Aug 2027 (total) and 26 Jan 2028 (annular).
It looks like the Rock of Gibraltar will be right in its path in 2027

It becomes darker graually, but then at the last moment when the Sun disappears it becomes darker very quickly.
