Well, we do it all in this one. Try to live forever. Learn some LA history. See my drunken college photos. Metal work. Robots. Building-sized 3D printers. And the most insane sugar high of all time. Like really high. Hope you enjoy!
I swear if I see Bryan Johnson again, can we stop giving him attention??? What he is doing is not scientific, its a vanity project - he's taking fistfuls of pills (literally anything and everything that is trendy) and exercising and acting like he's doing methodical research. His supposed reversal of his epigenetic age only comes after fixing his sleep, diet, and exercise so there's no way to know if his mountain of pills is doing anything or if its all just basic 'being healthy', for all we know his pills and therapies are a detriment. If he magically wakes up tomorrow 18 years old we won't be any closer to developing a therapeutic since there are millions of possible interactions going on between everything he is taking, so it's not altruistic like he claims. He's not even keeping up to date on research, he still takes metaformin even though recent studies have shown NO BENIFITS to non-diabetics and it decreases the effects of exercise. He's basically just slamming pills and working out and he gets loads of media coverage because he's rich... stick to science
@AshleeVanceHelloWorld These are interesting innovative techniques but I want to see you talk to companies that are already using these techniques in their manufacturing process to create consumer level products.
again ? it s has never left I mean the american decline talking point has been in the air for the last 40 years REMEMBER Japan was about to overtake the us at the beginning of the 90 S but America is still there at the top not so dominant as it used to be but still in the top two at least in the world and it s really incredible considering that the american hegemony has been a reality for at least a century now
Man this video was amazing. And you’ve got great self-irony. Truly showing “people that can do” in an entertaining way is itself doing something that just few can do. Keep up the great work, cheers from Italy
Trying to keep the Liberals convinced that their priorities aren't the road to destruction. I wonder where those robots were made? How many Californians moved to red states in the time it took for this video to play? We wouldn't want to talk about the competency crisis.
Ashlee, as a bloke swiping through UA-cam your videos here are hands down some of the best to get people interested in technology (technology isn't just software, it's hardware too). As an engineer, Destin from SmarterEveryDay puts out some of the best manufacturing related videos recently, and had a detailed dive into that robot colony of end tips using to make parts.
2:52 yeah...everything is possible in LA, even riding a broken backside of car!!! btw, these series is really great. I watched Hello World series before pandemic but it was lost in few years..Thanks again for coming back...
We used to have a lot of manufacturing back in the day, and companies decided to outsource it overseas for cheap labor. It's nice to see this coming back, because this impacts businesses at every level with supply chains, as many learned the hard way with lockdowns.
This isn't necessarily entirely new tech. It's essentially a CMM scanning process in reverse in a way. The robots are using a mathematical model invented by a renault engineer most likely, called Bezier Curves. Probably alot of FFT in there too
They are ''ordinary'' robots, made for all sorts of tasks, like, welding, assembling cars etc.. A few of the big manufacturers are; Mitsubishi Electric, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Epson, Omron, Denso, Kuka, Hitachi, Fanuc. They all make super cool stuff!
I feel like the US has entered a new Gilded Age. Despite all the problems and inequality of that period, it was also a period of heady innovation and rapid change. For all our problems now this is an exciting time to be alive.
There is a problem with 3D printing outside of Earth though: you need raw materials, so you need mining and smelting, and a boatload of energy. And without a protective atmosphere, a lot of high tech equipment will receive a constant battering of radiation. But I can see a future where repairs and replacements can be made in situ.
The M-type asteroid psyche supposedly has enough gold to make everybody a billionaire. NASA has recently sent a probe that will give us more information in 2029. And it is primarily made of iron and nickel. As for energy, a solar furnace might be the easiest solution.
I love how this feels so meandering, like you just were walking through town and stopped in to see what amazing thing some people are doing there, but the thesis of the video is super on point!
The dude is aging faster than anyone. There is something called "wear and tear." Time and biological decay are unstoppable. Health, however, is a different matter.
oh, so you already dissect his body and do a lot of research on him directly, so that you could proof it. or you're just pulling bullsh*t straight from your *ss, without any data to back it up
1:35 including a homeless parasite living off the public dole, a burglar or car jacker who doesn't get prosecuted, a public and open drug user, a useless police officer who does nothing, etc, etc, etc
Personally, I believe that even if the major motivation is "anti-China" this will still be a good thing for both the US and allies. A newfound focus on education, training, skills, and experience will bring very strong benefits to many communities. I think the last 30 years of development in India is proof of this type of foundational, from the 'ground up' investment can provide immediate and long term benefits.
11:50 at fast speed we could notice that sheet is deformed in the process - I think that might be main constraint that could decrease precision of vertical displacement for large sheets of material
That level of obsession with avoiding the aging process is in itself a symptom of anxiety, which can accelerate aging. Which ironically means that the more he wants it, the harder he has to work at it to get results.
Thats a brilliant way to lower the bar of entry for common people to engineer sophistocated manufactured parts. Empowering the entreprenuers, inventors, creatives, makers and doers alike. That would be so cool if one day anyone could go pay to have something custom manufactured. As long as the paywall isnt too large, it could be a prototype revolution.
It's been a minute since I geeked at seeing some server racks, but seeing full racks of servers with water cooling rigs on it and I immediately was like "Oh what the heck are they processing that bad boy!"
Bryan Johnson doesn’t look young or even *younger*. His hair is wispy and thinning like old men, his skin look caked, glossy, and pale. He looks like an aging “Data” from Star Trek and he has a serious creep vibe.
Ashlee makes some of the best content, I've read his Elon Musk book which is also pretty good but the videos just really capture his attitude and new information really well.
I think it's really understated the significance that SpaceX and Tesla will make on our future through all the ambitious entrepreneurs that got a jumpstart working at those companies. I heard of a lot of stories where people that worked during the early years of those companies earned enough money to retire decades earlier than average. Of course with the work they put it at their level of expertise and especially under such rough working conditions (elon demands a lot) they earned it. I can't wait to see what they'll all manage to accomplish
"What is it about LA that makes such innovations possible?" Money Ashlee... Money Most of the world is still trying to get clean running water, electricity and internet.
Why are we pretending he looks younger. He looks healthy, but it doesn't look like he is literally reversing in aging. Feels like we are just agreeing to this guys delusions to not offend him. Very LA
3D printing revolution will be the new steam engine revolution(in productivity terms) that we were waiting for. People have always overestimate computing revolution.
loved this series but wished there was more convo around real life human manufacturing jobs, what the future could look like for the millions of ppl who don’t have cushy brainy jobs (esp those who don’t aspire to that)
Well, we do it all in this one. Try to live forever. Learn some LA history. See my drunken college photos. Metal work. Robots. Building-sized 3D printers. And the most insane sugar high of all time. Like really high. Hope you enjoy!

he is 46, looks like a well maintained 65 year old.
Literally any problem

This reminds me of the 90s shows like beyond 2000. Love it!

only thing he doesn't look any younger ! healthy and fit - 100% , but not younger ... hes delusional

As a kid growing up in the UK during the 70's, I was intrigued by the show, Tomorrow's World. This series gives me a similar bump in optimism.

Amazing Informative and entertaining Video Ashlee!! Thanks!
I'm Asian, and this is what a envy about the US. So many ingenuity and teamwork.
They didn't even mention that he uses his son's blood for regular transfusions?
14:10 That confidence he mentions emerging from SpaceX reminds me of my own as I emerged from Factor e Farm in 2012. Regards.

What is the point in adding years to your life if you spend all day just trying to add years to your life. Not exactly living is it?
That live forever guy does not look young for his age. Why is there such a mass delusion around him?
informative and with super fun editing, 10/10

Really digging this slower, quieter, more focused and personal format that YT presenters are finding.
If I didn’t live there for years and seen the degeneracy first hand I would have fallen for the rosy picture of LA
Both simultaneously true.
Similar to SF/Silicon Valley, lot of dystopian things but also incredible innovation and ingenuity happening at the same time.
Venmo guy is really giving off Patrick Bateman vibes.
