You really should. Play Gothic, I mean. It does everything right that most games today do wrong. ...and don't be scared off by the control scheme. Once you get used to it, it's extremely intuitive.
@@evanharrison4054 I never really learned it but attacking/swinging and hitting left and righ worked like a charm :) loved the game! Risen 1 too! G2 and risen 1.. Gothic 1, not as much.. Gothic 3 i skipped.. I heard there were no women in it.. felt boring
I just finished the game... honestly, this game felt like just what I have been waiting for without knowing it. Its so much fun, there is sooo much to find just by exploring every corner of the map and I loved it. I cannot recommend it enough. It's very similar to Gothic in some aspects, but the world is still unique and can totally stand on its own. Its super fun to become stronger and feel less terrified of your surroundings haha. Also, sometimes some fucked up shit happens because of what you do... oh well. But you can pet the cats! And the dogs! And more!

6 hours in and I have a blast. Yes, I am a Gothic fanboy, but even though there are similarities, I feel Drova does and deserves to stand on its own. The combat system alone is enough to set it apart and elevate it above "Gothic in 2D", but not the only thing
Went to try it out before i went to bed ended up playing it for 6 hours, really enjoying it so far, Not many games like this around with these systems and mechanics its good to see.
Brother I do NOT envy you right now. So many releases. So many RPGs. It's an insane end of year when it comes to sheer amount of new role playing games.
With so many high quality AAA games in the pool I obviously missed this game. The second you mentioned isometric Gothic I was immediately interested. Thank you for bringing this game to my attention Mort! :D
This is actually quite fun. Also ridiculous how a small indie does exploration better than gazillion Dollar projects scared chicken of letting you actually, well explore on your own. Luckily Warhorse are gonna come to the rescue in February. Until then.... DROVA!
Thanks for the video. Comment is unrelated. I definitely get being saturated with games. Being a JRPG, Ys X would not a quick playthrough. Just a quick bit about it, it doesn't have the fantastical graphics of Final Fantasy, the combat of the Tales series, nor the story of Trails, but despite this, it's managed to find its niche within the competitive JRPG market. Should you find yourself with the time later in, I would certainly appreciate your take on it. But that's pretty much true for any JRPG. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
Looks cool. Might give it a shoot when im done with other games. How viable is the being a spellcaster in this game? Mostly asking since it looks like it's mostly weapons skills with a bit of magic sprinkled in later on.
this looks very interesting... i've been interested in playing gothic for a while now, but i keep hearing that the early/mid 2000's euro-jank of the game is quite the barrier for entry, definitely gonna check this out
I was just checking this game yesterday as it popped up in my Steam recommendations, great timing. A small question, have you ever covered the Expedition games? Rome Vikings and Conquistadors? I’ve been mildly curious about those. Take care Mortym!
I know I recently commented this, but on the tail of that this vod drops: I greatly appreciate the non-100% review components of the channel. Don't get me wrong, the 100% are the awesome staple (strong branding! w!). But the mix in the product line is really great and smart, imo. And yes, I probably get more value from the non-100% as it has turned out. Again, product line mix; something for everyone and everything on-brand. It's great. This is especially true in light of the other observation I made: the big releases I get [over] exposure already. Everyone. Their grandmother. Their great-aunt's parakeet. All have their 30-50min review of the big stuff. Excellent to have Mort's take on those too, but not over invest time/effort such that the other products are squeezed out--something I'm seeing on another small rpg gaming channel I like. Is Jazz spelled with one blah or blah blah blah?
You sound a bit sick, mate, judging by your voice. Take it slow and stay safe. I rarely like pixelated games, maybe with the exception of Blasphemous, hope you do a review on the second one some day.
Well once youve finished enjoying Gothic, take a little trip down to wikipedia and learn about the very poor relationship PB had with their publisher back then and thatll probably clear it up
Played limited time demo on steam. Bought it day one for switch. Needs a patch or two to smooth things out but its v good. It even has a 240fps option on switch 😅
I need to point out again Paign 2. It's a mobile game but the Dev said he plans to release it to steam too. While Paign 1 is short and you level up too fast, Paign 2 really has the feel of Gothic with no handholding and search and discovery. Played it and been on the guys discord for a while and the game is lovely. Same progression systems as in Gothic.

First English speaking reviewer who said this is 2D Gothic. Others were calling it 2D Morrowind for some reason.
Probably because they never played Morrowind lol
Now I want a 2d Morrowind...

If I'm the dev I'm changing that title such that streamers don't constantly refer to the game as Drova: Foreskin.
