Jimmy never ceases to amaze, regardless of the material he tackles and the ensemble he's playing in - from ARU to Allman Bros to WP to Phil Lesh & Friends and beyond. I've met him on numerous occasions and his musical ability is matched only by his humanity and humility. A genuine treasure.
No to mention, Kinsey was in one of the best fusion bands there are, Tribal Tech, along with the best fretless bassist since Jaco, Gary Willis, and guitar monster, Scott Henderson!
@@IgnatiusChinaski Vai's tone is good for his own material, or at least was back in the time he used the Marshalls anyway. I think it got too dry and bland when he started using the Legacy and since. Jimmy's tone is simply godly however.
If you eve saw Frank...you were lucky....caught him on a New Year's Eve show at Long Beach Arena...so good....still waiting for Jimmy to play the Baked Potato hear in L.A....
This clip still brings me such joy after all these years but, honestly, watching Jimmy play ALWAYS brings joy to all who hear what he's sayin' with his six-string interpreter.
I have never heard Jimmy be less than astonishing . This blows the roof clean off .. its a piece of genius .. gorgeous , exilerating , exciting , majestic ...I'd be interested to know if JH himself wld consider this a top performance of his . IT IS !
I like how he digs in so deep on a strat. You can clearly hear his fingers at work on the instrument, no bullsh*t. He really has so much feel and command.
I got Zoot Allures at the ripe age of 12. Though I like Overnight Sensation much better, Zoot really opened my young mind to sonic possibilities. Jimmy does a great performance with his own interpretation. Go JimmY!!
the show in H'ville 2010 with Sipe was the best music I had heard in several years. Up there w/ARU or better. Fuchs amps aren't done justice on YT and neither is Jimmy or OB.
Marvelous!!! To those interested, I have a version of me doing "Zoot Allures" up on my channel, although it doesn't hold a candle to this version. I didn't do any leads due to the short length allotted on the backing track.
Ha ha. That base player made his own gitar out of old barn boards! He uses old Radio shack transistor scrap in it for effect. I kno him good, he used to live in Milleggeville, if you know what that means...
@Gorgolada: Not to worry: the FAA always posts no-fly prohibited areas around his concert sites these days given the hazardous conditions that have always been created at past performances.
Jack Pearson has played with Jimmy on a number of occasions...I wish Jack was here standing alonside...taking the next solo...in the meantime..this is wonderful..Lord Have Mershay
@nspcvdgg I think you have to stay away from that yellow snow or move to Montana asap ! Keyboard player is Scott Kinsey - one of the most respected on the scene today and chosen by no less than Joe Zawinul to co produce with him !
Jimmy Herring's an amazing player, too bad I only 'discovered' him this year, but better late than never. Scott Kinsey's awesome too, and of course, the whole band's fantastic as well. Nice post, keep 'em comin' !

If I was Frank and I'd heard this guy, I would've kicked out Steve Vai and brought in Jimmy:-) This is a great tribute, Jimmy is a monster.
absolutely - so would i. herring is a much better better player than steve and infinitely more humble. vai's tone sucks.

Y'all are tripping. Jimmy is fucking great, but so is Steve. It's 2023 and Steve continues to release innovative material that is totally insane.
what a perfomance........mindblowing
Marvelous that one guy please FZ the Bible but he's best among following and interpretating it again 💯
Goes to show and remind you, how fucking good Frank was.
Like Frank Zappa, Jimmy Herring is overlooked and under appreciated. Killer “jazz isn’t dead, it just smells funny” FZ
Scott kinsey is a beast

I think he's just adoring to play the master's piece his own way bravo 🎉
This isn't Zoot, just because jimmy played 2 chords of it. Great players but Boring!!!!

Great guitaring but I don't hear Zoot Allures in all the jamming...it could be any track
There are no holes in Jimmy Herring's playing ! Absolute Master of Guitar !
Ah Jimmy and Jeff, been seeing them since the early 90's and they keep getting more dialed in, so beautiful
I got Zoot Allures at the ripe age of 12. Though I like Overnight Sensation much better, Zoot really opened my young mind to sonic possibilities.
Jimmy does a great performance with his own interpretation. Go JimmY!!
Awesome!
Timeless and fantastic dude 👍🏽💯
those hairs on my neck awooooooooo SUPERB
The first sixteen seconds 👑
another wowzer tune !
I second that! Jimmy can play the guitar just like ringin a bell! I love that he covers this!

The Fuchs is just a backup in this case. Jimmy uses the Super Reverb for his solo shows and the Fuchs with Widespread Panic when he needs more volume.

Yeah, the am deluxe does not come in white,it is not a JB model, either, could it be a rosewood EJ model?
Does anyone know the date of this performance. JH allows folks to tape his shows, so this may be available for download.

I apologise for posting yet another comment here but .. Jimmy H is out of the ordinary here .. even by his own extraordinary standard ..
Incredible Guitar Player, his interpretation and approach to songs is amazing..my fav guitar player since 1st hearing him with ARU
Sounds like Holdsworth , what model strat is Jimmy playing in this vid?
@austin33309 No shit man! If we never get out of the "box", we'll never evolve. I love dissonant notes!!!!:)
@me86680 I found out it's a Fender custom shop creation just for him.
@allbuzzedup1
If JH is not God ( 1960's Eric context ) he is surely one of the disciples
Holy shit, my favorite living guitarist covers my personal hero. It doesn't get much sweeter than this.
Anyone else hear a very short quote of David Gilmour's solo from "Another Brick in the Wall" around the last ten seconds of this video?
This is exactly how it's done. Every situation, Herring will take care of it!!!
Scott Kinsey-keyboards
Frankie would be proud!!
Sounds like the tone Holdsworth gets. This is a great player man.
@Gorgolada LMAO!! :-p
Frank is smiling in heaven as this is being played. Awesome!!
@austin33309 The man likes his joke.
this is great
Wow, 4:07?! Wha?
omg this guys good
Great stuff
5:08-5:13 -- Good Lord....
4:57!!!! OMG
Great musicians, great song.... absolutely PAINFUL audio on this. Sometimes not posting a video honors the musicians more... just sayin'.
Personally, I wish it was better but I feel more enriched having enjoyed it than NOT seeing anything...
