Solid Review ! I own the Roland DJ 808 and have owned the 3 steps of the Numark NS7 with the original 7 being my go to unit and the 7-3 being my "mastermix" unit. I just purchased the NS 6-2 and in my opinion having owned also the Pioneer ddj sx first edition the NS 6-2 has waaay more bang for the buck The Pioneer ddj SZ is the top of the food chain no doubt, being it can run Serato, Rekordbox, Traktor, and Virtual dj but the ease of carrying around the NS6-2 to events is so much easier on the back.
this is dj timdogg...i have this controller.. i absolutely love it !! i have used it with both virtual dj and serato. it's light weight, easy to hook up with 2 laptops.. it's seamless.. the samples on both programs work great and i have already learned how to drum program songs and loop the samples....it's numark's best controller!!!
I picked up the MixTrack Platinum and the thing has a seriously loud hum flashing in time with the cue buttons. I'm not the only one apparently. Is this an issue with the NS6-ii ?
tim bayard nope, unfortunately not.. This is a documented complaint that I only found out about after I heard it myself. Unit is returned, so I'm all good.
I own a DDJSX2,. but I may sell it and buy a Numark NSX7 3 what do u think on that? .. I'm a professional D.J.nand I like Serato I like Pioneer and I like Numark but I really like the moving platers that Simulates real vinal... But I'm torn between my DDJSX2. AND THE NEW NSX7 -3
@@maccagrabme I like everything about it except that it does not have a dedicated Looping button. You can still set loops by using the pads though. Also you have to turn the Master Out to almost MAX to get the microphone inputs loud enough.
Great review. Currently using the NS6 which is pretty awesome save for the lack of effects knobs which I got around by adding a Novation LaunchControl to my setup, but those pads on the II are a pretty good addition over and above all the rest. You should do a side-by-side video with NS6 and NS6II. Otherwise nice vid.
nice looking unit.. i am glad to see the technollogy in Numark and Pioneer are still trying to advance the art and science of dee jaying.. i am a Pioneer guy . but i am not Myopic i like alot of good stuff.. meantime i learn by watching so glad u taught... i listened . but i still wont change from my Pioneer DDJSX2 to swap it too this.. if anything i would upgrade to the DDJSZ . but over all this new unit looks well made....
I have 3 NDX500s,love them, started djing back in 1991so prefer to mix without sync and minimal use of bpm counter but gotta get one of these, like to show off my speed at beat matching, looking foreword to doing stuff that ya would't hear live from any dj,some real complex multi deck stuff, dunno if it would be good for learning, pick up bad habbits but as DJ who started on vinyl over 25 years ago who knows and can do it all this looks like great fun,if yer learning I'd advise covering the bpm display once ya start to get the hang of it,if ya land a gig with cdj's with no or crap bpms yer gonna be stuck,I'd advise picking up a couple of cdj's as you can connect two to this, either as a stand alone for the cdj's or for 4 physical deck mixing,if you wanna gig ya need to learn cdj's and beat matching by ear as cdj is industry standard as you only need to bring a couple of memory sticks so even though a gonna get one of these trust me,you will nead to learn the hardway,if using sync still match as close as poss with your pitch, just hitting sync will screw up your set with tracks far to fast or slow and the pitch on the pc does't match the actual pitch oyn the controller, defo do some beat matching with the bpm display, yeah use them normally to begin and use the display but try covering the display and don't look at your pc,if you can't mix by ear you will get found out, once you are able to do that it will be even easier using the visual display, looks an amazing bit of equipment but don't rely on bpm counters and sync, they do go wrong and if you can only use this you'd be fucked if ya showed up at a club with no knowledge of cdj's or Techniques and manual beat matching, that said, dying to get one of these, should be ble to use them with some Eeees...haha,just say maybe kids!
alienrape I see you got great sense of hearing, do you play any kind of music Instrument? This used to be my subject, ear training! Glad to see you are sharing your talent with others. Take care & God bless you! Peace out!
Numark needs to come with Ns74 with dual usb and have the 2 mics features like Ns6mk2. That way will have 4 channels free . Also I say a 2 knobs control for sampler will be a nice addition. One knob for the vol the other for the filter. Numark contact me I am fill with crazy features ideas lol!
I had the NS7ii and i loved it but sold it to get the SX-W and don't regret it, well i liked that is was bigger lol and i had better control of the mic! ok maybe a few features lol
i just bought the ns7ii, its still in the mail, i grew up on technic 1200s and have used the ns7 many times, to me it is the only controller on the market that gives you a true vinly feel, i couldnt imagine ever selling and "downgrading " to "synthetic" platters
Thanks for the review. Would like to see a follow up video where you actually get to use the unit and point out the features that are most useful and those that set it apart from some of the current crop of controllers. Personally I'm still using my original NS6 from 2011, and I've been waiting to see if I should jump into this new one or the denon 8000 or 7000. I'd also like to see if this one can actually fit well into the original Odyssey case for the NS6, that way I don't have to buy a new case if I go with this new unit.
Amazon bruh. 22.4 x 13.8 x 2.6 (10 pounds [rounded] Compared to: NS7ii 29.7 x 18.2 x 4.8 (32 Pounds rounded) MC7000 14.9 x 26.1 x 2.7 inches (20 pounds rounded) SX2: 6.9 x 29.9 x 17.7 inches (13 Pounds rounded) Personally, the Denon MC7000 is just a better buy.
Amazon measurements are often inconsistent. Sometimes they show package measurements as product measurements, sometimes the wrong measurements period. Hence, thought I would ask a guy that actually has one in hand :)
I own and use all of the products I listed. Those numbers on amazon are accurate, but you would just round up. So 14.9 Really means 15. 29.9 is really 30.
Now that you've had the unit for the better part of 2 weeks, can you give us some updates and maybe a video of the unit in action? Show the things that it can do well, the things that make it stand out or fall behind other controllers that you've used.
I looked into what the adaptive learning technology in the platters on these numark controllers means exactly. It doesnt learn anything about your style of playing. It senses the environment and adapts its sensitivity to whats going on. For example... if you are in a dry or humid environment, or have lots of bass in a heavy sub situation. Thats why the follow up line is something like "for optimal response in any ENVIRONMENT". Its a little confusing, and maybe intentionally(?) so people will think the platters will adjust to their playing style and make them a better DJ or some shit lol.
Great video. Can you give us a follow up video in a few weeks after you have had a chance to use it a few times in the real world? Seems like a great little controller for a decent price. Thanks.
the screens are oleds jogs from the mixtrack platinum, they can scratch very easy with light marks because they are plastic, so I dunno if numark fixed that here? looks great controller with top features
No issues at all with close to 10 events with it. Maybe a general bug that Serato fixed, a mac issue that was patched, usb latency problem, or a driver/firmware patch.
Hey Josh, curious, have you encountered jog wheel lag and/or jog wheel inactivity? i purchased an ns6ii and returned it due to those technicalities. for me, platters are very key for a controller to have. serato.com/forum/discussion/1652417#new

what about virtual dj use? any bug or limited functions on VDJ? and PADS?
Dj2elve ..vdj 8 is the only program you can use with it..the drum pads work great..I know you will like it!!!

ab5tract if you have a loud hum then sounds like you may have a bad usb cord...
tim bayard nope, unfortunately not.. This is a documented complaint that I only found out about after I heard it myself. Unit is returned, so I'm all good.

Great review. I didn't read all the comments yet and not sure if anyone asked already but will this unit work with Virtual Dj interface?
What else do you need for DVS.....incorparating my turntables to my mp3 files?
Where do you think I could get this dj controller because in 2021 it has been discontinued.
Great review Josh! I just bought one of these. Can't wait for it to arrive!
Has it arrived yet?
did it live up to expectations?

best controller id ever own might by another so much you can do with this controller to be light weight and to be mobile

Does the neumark have a sampler volume?
Will these fit in the NS6 case that i had my old Ns6 in?

Very Good Review, keep up good work. Love the controller 💯👊🏾👊🏾

NS6 23.8 x 13 x 2.5
NS6-II 22.4 x 13.8 x 2.6
Might have to make a few small small adjustments to your foam but looks like it would fit pretty snug.
hey bro i have the 8000 and i love it... heavy in a flight case but i have no complaints...solid controller!!!!
Hey Josh, can you measure the physical dimensions of the NS6ii and let me know what they are? Can't seem to find this info anywhere online. :)
Amazon bruh.

Congrats, it's a heck of a controller!

Great video. Very interested in the product and vids are few and far
thanks for the review..great job
Great video. Can you give us a follow up video in a few weeks after you have had a chance to use it a few times in the real world? Seems like a great little controller for a decent price. Thanks.
No problem. In 2 weeks I've put 5 jobs on it, and I have a few more to go. I'll do a follow up! :)
the screens are oleds jogs from the mixtrack platinum, they can scratch very easy with light marks because they are plastic, so I dunno if numark fixed that here? looks great controller with top features
I've heard lots of reports the ns6ii loses jogwheel response. Any info on this?
No issues at all with close to 10 events with it. Maybe a general bug that Serato fixed, a mac issue that was patched, usb latency problem, or a driver/firmware patch.
DJ Josh Erie not sure there’s a lot of talk about it on the serato forum. That’s good you’re not having issues though.
not been an issue for me
Blake The Snake I’m convince just picked up mine today
you know what is the downside about this controller I was so disappointed, it does not record your mic and your input channels through Serato DJ .
Did you ever figure out why it doesn't record? Or what do you have to do to get it to record?
How would you compare it to the pioneer sr2....and how is the sound quality compared to a pioneer controller
DJ GBOI this shit is way better then sr2 even the old ns6 is way too me
Definitely better than the SR2.
Denon mc 7000 or ns6 2

What about sampler volumes?
Good question! I believe they are software controlled.
DJ Josh Erie figured it out. You just send it to a channel
comparable to the ns73......after removing features. Doesn't that make it no longer comparable?
Didn’t even kno they had a ns6 wow
Original NS6 came out years ago. Was the first controller to do what everyone looks for now.
