Always great to see Eubie perform. My mom adored Eubie. If I was around and Eubie was on TV she would practically drag me in front of the TV. I wish that then I had shared my mother's passion for this superb musician.
@@Rgeorjazz he probably used 1883 because people would have a tough time realizing that he wrote Charleston Rag when he was 12, but Blake was a genius.
@@NicanTlacaWarrior1 thanks for the response. Here's a link to a remote tribute that I did @The Blake Cultural Arts Center, Baltimore. I hope you enjoy it! ua-cam.com/video/W6mSQncXpy0/v-deo.html
He also performed at the Ohio Theater in Columbus Ohio during this tour in 1978 and I had the honor of being in the audience. A reception room had just been added so after the concert he met and conversed with audience members there. I was 17 and utterly thrilled to shake his hand and hear is music and stories.
Im doing some research on this remarkable man bc my God Mother, Elizabeth Edwards & I will be visiting the Eubie Blake Center here in Maryland for an upcoming event in honor of Kwanza on the 28th day of December 2017.
If this was in 1978, he was 91 at the time -- not 95. Eubie was born in 1887 (according to 1900 census, WWI draft card, social security, passport and his death certificate) -- not 1883 as he claimed in his later life. Thus he was in fact 96 when he died. It doesn't diminish his musical accomplishments, of course!
@duckman531 All the documents I listed. They're public record. The Wiki article frequently is "corrected" by people who don't know any better. It's a problem when there are so many old references in print that came out before the truth came to light.
@Keeper1st It's interesting how ephemeral facts are, but I guess this happened often, as with Louis Armstrong. Wikipedia lists both dates. What is your source for this information?
This was 57 years after he wrote it. Today is another 46 years later. Crazy how time flies, eh Eubie?
91 or 95 ... Eubie playing here is a living, breathing, singing, swinging, sweetly thumping marvel.

The magic happens for me at 1:55, so sentimental and sweet. Just love the song and the way Eubie Blake plays it. So beautiful!
THE TRIO... A poet...A philosopher...A musician...BRAVO !
Thanks so much for bring us again to this wonderful artist, one in a million
Always the best, our Uncle Eubie!
What beautiful music they wrote together. Any comments regarding Eubie Blake’s actual DOB?

A melody worthy of Jerome Kern. Sophistication and simplicity.
Beautiful
Superb

i believe you mean THE TRIFECTA

The first song, whose title Eubie forgets, is BANDANNA DAYS, I believe.
The three songs written specifically for the show were "I'm Just Wild About Harry", "Bandana Days", and "Love Will Find A Way".
