One of the many things I learned since being engaged in this bonsai hobby it that some plants die, no matter what you do to keep them healthy. This is what makes your channel different from many other bonsai youtubers. You show your failed plants as well. It's a good feeling to know that I am not alone 😁
Nigel, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you showing examples of your bonsai that did not work out for one reason or another. As a beginner who worries about having a bonsai die it is actually reassuring to see that it can happen to anyone. Thank you.
Great video as always Nigel! On your last video, it was very heart breaking to hear that some people were giving you a hard time over the content you make. This is sadly very common on the internet, as you can't really please everyone. I just hope you continue to make videos that satisfy you, and I for one want to THANK YOU for the countless hours of quality content that you've provided for us. I will always look forward to what exciting new things you'll be making each day!
Every time you mention the Procession Playlist I think we'll that's a great idea and then I realise I have already watched every single video of yours 😂 I really like the City Penjing!
Oooh, the last Ficus Religiosa have the same age as me (I'm 21 tho). And I'm really sorry about that Bougainvillea bonsai (luckily that you successfully saved it as a cutting too, which in my mind resembles a Catalpa tree 😋).That's a nice video as usual, very great to see some updates! 🤗♥️💡
You're not only very optimistic, but quite wise. It really is a blessing in disguise that some of the trees died back a little bit, it really will add more character to each tree. Honestly would suggest letting the first set of good and new branches get at least a meter or more long before trimming if possible, just for the sake of letting it gain more sap to feed the roots. The scale of the spider against the building is quite good, its nice to know these people live in a land with giant spiders in the trees.
The city scape really turned out great. Moss on bricks and on the side of the building looks cool. Trees coming out nice. Summer should bring a lot of growth to the trees.
I had white fluffy bugs on all my trees and had to sprayed them 3 days in a row then I saw one bug climbing back on to the tree, I left the soapy water on for 12 hours then rise it off and all gone, thanks to your advice.
Hi Nigel. It's your greatest fan again. I think is brilliant if you to have made a playlist for every single tree you got. Excellent work. And once again, these Acacia loom amazing. Warms my heart. I even decided to change my profile picture to a blooming Acacia. Well done.
Hi Nigel, you could let the ficus roots, in your penjing, grow under the bricks and let them lift the bricks and all the pathway. That's what ficus does in urban contexts. They can literally lift a road
The grapefruit tree reminded me of the ones I recently started. I had 4 seeds that were what's known as poliembyonic. I got them to grow and am 7 for 4 .
Awesome! Finally back on watching your videos! Lost 4 trees to the "colder" season down in Florida. Have not being able to work on any of mine for about three months since I've been constantly gone for work/ training. Can't wait for next week when I get done with work training and be home and prune and repot!
Thank you for mentioning the bottle cap watering nozzles, I've been thinking those looked cool, but didn't start looking where I could purchase them yet. So thanks to your suggestion, I decided to start with a quick search on Amazon and literally discovered dozens of choices! I decided on a 5-pack of the model I liked most and with Amazon Prime, they'll be here Monday. I'm anxious to put them to use :)
Fever acacias usually have huge diebacks. Ther are 4 of them at my kids school and every year there are 3-4 major branches dying back. Reading about it, I have learned that they originally live in swamp areas and since here is quite dry I thoght that maybe it would be a reason for that... but I still want to try them as bonsai since I love its greenish yellowish bark....
Really like the Penjing then the 2nd Bougainvillea, the Lemon & the Ficus elastica with its Aloes. Could you show us the fabulous Aloe vera? It seems to be quite a while since we saw it. Definitely my favourite.
Dear Nigel to 24:22. I have a dwarf lilac bonsai (Syringa) that drives me crazy every year. Every year it sprouts then it seems to die off again sprouts again and so on. Wait and see what happens.
Hello, from Lakeland FL. Like your tropical collection. In one of the comments, I asked you if guaba (guayaba) trees grow from cuttings. You replied that you never tried. I did try it and they do grow from cuttings. Make sure to live lives on the cuttings and use hormones powder. Use regular garden or vegetable soil. Now is the time to try with the cuttings.
Hu Nigel, when you next trim the Ficus Regiosa. please save me a couple of cuttings. My wife follows Buddah's preaching and a Bothi tree will look good in the shrine. Thanks.
I gotta say, love your tropicals. You have a green thumb with them especially being all the way in Canada. Not having but just a few good months of good growing time would be so different for me haha. Spring is basically here in west Tennessee with bubs starting to swell and some even opening already. Looking forward to part 3. That sunshine through the window looks like it feels amazing. I know the bonsai love it!
I love all your trees and landscapes but that new Chinese Penjing is very special. I look forward to watching its development. Will you root prune the individual trees or let the Penjing just grow and fuse it’s root system? Thanks
Hi Nigel I dont know if you are able to help. I recently root pruned the large chunky roots from my Acacia robusta (now called Vachellia robusta) and most of the leaves have dried up. I have kept it in a warm shaded area and have kept soil moist in mornings. Do you have any suggestions for what could have happened? Is this just how they sometimes respond to stress?
They will drop their leaves when root pruned and you have to be careful not to over water the trees when they are leafless or the roots could begin to rot. It may take quite some time before the roots have grown in and tree is stable enough to put out leaves. Here is a good article on Acacia's as bonsai.... www.bonsaitree.co.za/blogs/tree-talk/my-first-acacia-bonsai-tree
@@TheBonsaiZone I smiled twice thanks again had my first covid Moderna vaccine today and it has been a long exhausting day I got the smile twice tonight see you tomorrow

Thanks Nigel, please keep going on this project and don't listen to the haters.

Think how big all your spider guardians are when you think of them in scale to the bonsai

that 'lady' figurine looks good next to the ficus
Moss is one of my favorite things in the world!
Sedum could be good for the penjing, to add some little plants to it.
The little village is so neat!
The long leaves on the saberleaf ficus could actually make for a great palm-like bonsai.
Great miniature in a cool pot and 20 years old. Fantastic!
The moss on those bricks looks so cool!

For small plants, check out the section in the nurseries and the big box stores for the fairy garden plants. Nice miniature plants they have.

If you want a small flowering plant for the front of the house you can try small masdevallia orchids.
The Conductor achieves perfect pitch and tone from the Bonsai orchestra. The giraffe finds gourmet Acacia leaves.
Wauw, i think the city landscape, is going to become my new favorite 😋
Yes, I just have to find some! Most of the garden centers don't have much in yet, but soon the plants will be coming!
Yeah it truly is becoming an excellent penjing and the perspective is done masterfully.
I really love your little grapefruit tree! Lisa

I wish I could get a spa day like that.
You might have the lemon in time for late summmer or early fall for a cup of tea. Sometimes it takes them that long to ripen.

Hi Nigel. How’s the lithops? Are they shedding the older leaves yet? Planted any of the seeds I sent ya? Hope all is well!
I really want to grow lithops and some caudex plants from seed
I’ve heard you mention that you use a good pinch of fertilizer. Any chance you could take a good pinch and measure how much it is? Thanks Nigel!
Hey Nigel, is there an update on your baobab seeds?
can you please make an update on the acacia forest?
Yes, it will be coming this spring!
