  • On this episode of Disco Life, we'll show you how we did the Option B Ground Fault Error Fix for the Three Amigos. This is a common issue with Land Rover Discovery 2, described very eloquently in the links below. A common fix for this issue is to bypass the shuttle valve circuit. The links shared here also describe this fix in great detail.
    Because of the state of the shuttle valve circuit, we also had to rebuild our shuttle valve circuit by replacing all the wiring.
    Links we found helpful in this process:

    good video.... always use some quality solder flux if you struggle with soldering... it removes the oxidation form the metal and makes the solder "wet" the metal and suck into those exposed bits... like a film. I use the ordinary paste type, but also have a flux pen in the fridge for PCB work. If you ever took off the ABS module, you can get that bolt out you broke the head off on, simply use a sharp nail and a hammer to hit it on the side so it rotates the stuck little neck

    Have had done this before but slightly different in the shutter valve assembly, removed the old connector and just ran wires out and on the harness no splice just snip and attached the car side of wire to the modded valve. Good video to watch too

      I've seen that as well. I saw somewhere the splicing and thought that to be a good idea. Not sure it matters as the end result *should* be the same.

    Hi i have freelander 1 td4 2004 model with the same problem (3 amigos) can this be the the cause of check engine light going on and car going into limp mode

      I have not heard of it doing that before. Hopefully you were able to get it sorted.

    What was the point of the heatshrink when you left the solder joints uncovered!

    I like the video - but if i bypass the shuttle valve like this will the traction control/hill dissent, etc actually work? or will the lights just go off

      I am far from the expert here. My understanding from doing all of the reading is all of the systems will work and actually function better. With the lights on they work at limited capacity, so removing the codes by removing the ground fault you restore the system to full functionality.

    Great video !
    what fault codes you have for the check engine light?

    • @DiscoLife04
      @DiscoLife04  2 роки тому

      The only codes that read were p1412 and p1415 which are Sai related. I cleared them after making this video (and the old abs codes) and they haven't come back yet. I'm sure they haven't solved themselves but it is nice having a clean dash for the time being.

      @@DiscoLife04 Oooh this fixed your sai codes? I'm planning on doing this tomorrow, and my sai is already deleted so that's cool, have those codes came back?

    You could double up in one side of the crimp and use a proper crimper

    • @DiscoLife04
      @DiscoLife04  Рік тому

      yep. i needed proper crimpers for sure. Learning as I go.

      I would do some research on that as I am not overly familiar with the freelanders. I think it should work, but I am not positive.

    great video. how do you get the codes as my 3 amigos are on after changing all my steering joints ?

    • @DiscoLife04
      @DiscoLife04  2 роки тому +2

      You have to have a code reader that will read the abs codes. Not all code readers will. I have a foxwell nt elite 510. It's like $100 on Amazon. Just make sure you get the one that does land Rover.

  • @sal1520
    @sal1520 2 роки тому

    Is it necessary to disconnect the battery when doing this? Or don’t matter?

    • @DiscoLife04
      @DiscoLife04  2 роки тому

      Nope. I didn't disconnect the battery at all for this.

    Hi i just did this hack and they came back right front sensor so it doesn't work

    • @DiscoLife04
      @DiscoLife04  Рік тому

      Sorry to hear that. It worked for my application, but it is not the only solution to fixing the amigos. Sometimes there are other wiring issues not connected to the shuttle valve assembly that need to be sorted. Were you able to resolve them?

    a much harder job to get the modulator out of a Td5 defender, having to do it twice in 8 years
