I figured I’d share my thoughts on the new Battle Pass just as some other content creators (Solem, Zeddy, etc) have decided to do. The new system makes the game far more expensive and hopefully we can change that.
Iv heard alot of talking about this subject, and...I'd like to offer an idea on how to START, to fix the new system, something simple. Make it, to where ALL of your Daily Quests refresh everyday, not just one, the average daily quest Iv seen equals around...800-1000 XP, by giving 3 daily Quests instead of one, you essentially are awarding players a daily "Weekly Quest", that encourages them to play around with classes and game modes they wouldn't play anyway. Just my opinion.
So it will become a marketing strategy? They will "fix" it and then everyone will rejoice and praise Blizzard even they are the one who did it in the first place? To make themselves the good guy even when they are the one who fcked it up
@@rubilax2270 To be fair, Reddit went nuclear. True though, he pushed the first domino to make the voices heard. Thank you all for speaking up, you really didn't have to risk your relationship with Blizzard but we're glad you did. The more that speak up, the better for our "pack".
Please, do NOT spend money on this game until we get more rewards. They need us. They can't live without money. I guess, I am not going to pay to have fun playing this game anymore.
I already spent money on the mega bundle the last week and i cant refund it =/ . Last penny I'll give blizzard even if they fix this. 0 support to their loyal players and + 100 % greed.
You I am streaming my journey from 1-150 to PROVE to people like YOU that this system is way better follow me and you can see for yourself silverhawkhs level 15 in 3 days baby
I am playing runeterra since open beta. With just a few games each day. I got enough resources to probably purchase the next 2 full expansions at this point. I get the feeling, would I play HS instead, I might be able to get a single, at best, decent deck.
What paywall man ? U can get a lot of skins from boxes in league of legends . When they introduced this system i never had to buy a skin again . You only need to spend money if u really want a certain skin . I think lol might be one of the best Free to play experience game . They even replaced the old rune system when u had to buy them
@@jonnymario771 Or most likely not. They are running LoL still as f2p title. Only cosmetics and stuff cost money. And even from that you can get a bunch for free.
I quit playing and uninstalled some months ago. Used to LOVE this game and for many reasons I got fed up with the game. Seen this video pop up, watched it and it reinforced the fact that I will likely never go back, especially since I played the game without investing any actual money. On a side note, I miss watching Dekkster's content. Best HS content creator out there.
They’re adding a battle pass... into a game where there are already insanely expensive xpacs every 4months that only give you 30% of the cards to play around with...and also it’s a fucking card game... wtf lol
@@fatihrime as long as corporate-loving sheep buy their trash and defend them, companies like Activision will never change. I mean, people still pay a monthly subscription to play their ancient grindfest of an mmo, wow, FOR DECADES.
@@KroVey idk man hearthstone is fun and I don’t see somewhere where I can get the day one expansion experience elsewhere. I would love to see the game get less expensive but I tried the other games they just don’t have the same feel. People don’t play games for rational reasons so blaming the players is missing the point they want the game to be priced better they just don’t have a choice.
@@jadjajeh3270 I don't care. I quit this piece of trash game After the deathknights rotated to wild, can't even remember what expansion was that. I came back just to kill some time with battlegrounds but I'll probably quit that too once I get cyberpunk and Baldur's Gate. You want me to feel sympathy for you when you support Activision's scam-system? Nope.
When Deks shared not being able to have his friends stick with hearthstone after introducing it to them.. I related. Feels bad there is such a high barrier for entry to have fun
I'm the only one left in my original friend group who plays, and I have spent, I think 3 bucks total on the game (I bought the welcome bundle with a coupon, lol), where some have spent more. It's definitely lonely these days.
@@GatsbyCioffi yeah i relate too. I started playing this game with my friends 6 years ago. Slowly they all disappear and its only left with me (f2p with only a few decks) and my one friend who is a whale (hahaha). My friends ask why i keep playing this game and wanted to join but it was so hard to give good points and just told them to try battlegrounds cuz it’s impossible to play standard
Imo the best thing HS has are the adventures and all that dungeon like content, just playing that content if you're new to the game is good enough, but the pvp side has too much rng involved and requires you to stay up to date with the game by spending lots of money for the new cards and key cards from older packs and you don't have any of those cards if you're new or the dust to craft them, it wouldn't be so bad if there was a monthly sub that would give you all the cards from the most recent pack until your sub ends but there's no way they would do that when they're so greedy.
I know I've said this before, but I'm not spending another dollar on this game... It was a spit in my face when the tavern pass wasnt included in the 80USD mega bundle..
lol i know i didnt spend on the full bundle 125packs, but i figured anyone that spend that amt of money deserve that tavern pass for free lol but this is blizzard xDD suddenly pre expansions is not enuf for blizzard lololol
@@nejcftv3792 yeah, MTG Arena handled that pretty well, granted I haven't played MTG arena in a year but I recall you getting mythic "tokens" or whatever that you could redeem for the card(s) of your choice. There's no reason that hearthstone can't implement a system like that.
Actually there is a reason. If you want to play a specific deck. You need specific Legendarys from the set. A d u need to open approximately 35-40 packs to get a random legendary. Grinding gold for that amount of packs and than getting a legendary you can't find use of is just disastrous!! At that point you can disenchant the card for 1/4 of a legendary you need. And there goes another 120 packs with some bad luck to craft the legendary you want. Than there are epic cards. And after 3 months of playing that same deck you kinda want to try out a different deck... you feel me? Its just catastrophic the way it is. I bought both preorders and opend only 5 legendarys of which I only got 1 that I really wanted. Others are not useful for me.
I mean, I actually enjoyed the persuasion not to dust. I always felt a little guilty dusting my old favorite cards, like Frost Lich and Pyros. I felt like a bad player, lol. Now I have incentive to keep my favorite cards, and maybe give Wild a try sometime.
@@GatsbyCioffi Yeah, I totally agree with that (I decided not to dust Rastakan's Rumble and Boomsday, the only 2 expacs I bought), but even so, that means your yearly dust collection vanishes. The only way to get dust becomes through duplicates which is 4 times slower than the original system which is already completely stupidly slow...
So glad to see content creators speaking up about this. You're not only speaking for yourselves but also speaking for all of us. Here's to the people! We deserve more
I was curious about this tavern pass and UA-cam algorithm recommended this video to me. Now i don't have to try it just to realize it's the same old economy. "If you don't like it, don't play it." That's what the players told me, when i made any criticism about Hearthstone. Now i realize it's the best advice ever, because the game probably isn't going to change. The players are willing to give any amount of money to Blizzard. I would recommend LoR to fellow CCG players. I got all the cards in 4 months and on top of that have enough resources to craft cards for the next 2 expansion. It's not a huge game compared to the big Hearthstone couple years ago. But from what i've seen, LoR devs are willing to fix their mistakes about the game unlike Blizzard.
You pay 130$ per expansion to preorder bundles, you pay 12$ per expansion for a BG Pass, now you pay 20$ per expansion for a Tavern Pass, Meanwhile Blizzard: "Money is money!"
Thanks for bringing some light into this issue Dekks! This new system is definitely madness, some of my F2P friends have already told me that it'll simply crush their passion for the game as they need to play a lot more to get even less than they were getting for just 1-2 hours of play every day. I'm glad that some of the big streamers and content creators are starting to stand up cause this needs to be fixed asap. Here are some changes I feel like need to be implemented cause this is honestly getting out of hand: - Either reduce the EXP needed to level up or make everything give a lot more exp. The first 15 levels are dumb easy but from there you can't even possibly grind 1 level a day, even if you play stupid hours, so what's even the point? - The legendary pity timer needs to go all the way down to 20 packs max. The 40 one was ok when there weren't 2 legendaries per class per expansion but with so many legendaries opening 4 after spending 130 bucks is disgusting and insane. I would also love if they could lower the variance, cause it feels like shit to have seen the same streamer get packs with 2-3 legendaries multiple times and then I have played this game for almos 5 years now and I haven't gotten a single pack with multiple legendaries and I do buy a large amount of packs each year. - The rewards themselves have to be heavily reworked. It does suck to climb all the way to level 40 something to get a pack with cards that'll rotate in 4-5 months and that you more than likely already own all the playable cards from said sets. The battle pass should only award either packs from the last expansion and gold (cosmetics is fine as well). I would like it better if it was only gold but whatever that's probably not gonna happen, so packs but only from the latest expansion is fine as well.
1 - this song is amazing, thank for DK2 Stickerbush Symphony 2 - I am a Brazilian casual player, but I want to enjoy the content. The exchange value prevents access to all content for us @_@
Really, thank you for doing this Dekks. I've really fallen off from the game because it's really just become too expensive to keep up to date playing. I haven't been catching the streams because of the fact that I simply don't enjoy the game anymore and it's a shame. Because I really do enjoy your content and personality. Again thank you for speaking up about this Dekks and I hope Blizzard really take you and other player's criticisms to heart.
@@creepykoala7255 I know . I’m a collector as well I want to have all the hero skins ,card backs and cards . With them constantly releasing skins on the shop for a limited time and the preorder every 4 months I think I finally have to say good bye to the game unless I’m willing to invest over well over a 1k each year and now hours a day to max a battle pass :(
You might consider switching to Wild format. It's a lot cheaper because you don't need to keep buying/dusting for entire decks worth of cards multiple times. I haven't spent a dime on Hearthstone in over a year and have hit top 100 legend every month. Granted I play the same deck and don't get bored of it. But it's just a thought.
Something I wanna point out... I purchased the $45.00 bundle as soon as it released solely so I could have early access to Duels. In order to use the new Hero Powers/Treasures, you must unpack 10 unique epics and 100 unique cards from the new set. After opening all of my packs (including extras from progression) i ended with 9 unique epics (3 of which I pulled duplicates of...) and 99 unique cards. I am absolutely against conspiratorial thinking but after this I could NOT help but to feel like they were trying to get me to buy more cards by getting me to the edge of the new unlocks. Felt like a huge slap in the face when the only reason i Pre-ordrered was for Duels access, and now they are telling me I can't use the new stuff because I didn't get "lucky" enough with my packs. Just my 2 cents anyway
For me, I'm surprised they removed the daily gold wins. I thought they gonna keep that. Typically, I play 1 hour each day and earn 30 gold. Now, 0 gold unless I leveled up by completing quests.
30 gold in 1 hour? So you win 9 games in 60 Minutes? Even with a 100% that is only attainable with a Facehunter deck. The average player makes 10g an hour. The new system with 400XP an hour is about 30% better.
@@hatokiri he said about daily quest not 3 win reward, like drawing 30 cards, play a card or spell, win with certain hero, using hero power and etc. that easy to achieve and you can get easy 10 gold or more just play 1 up to 3 games if you unlucky
@@hatokiri Of course, farming gold was best done with aggro decks. In the current system, it is time-based and the player gets XP for losses too, so people can play whatever they like and do not care that much about lost gold, when not winning.
Thanks for doing the research on this. As someone who just plays standard, the allowance of wild cards in the duel format is quite frustrating. All my wild cards get dusted as soon as the year changes over and cards rotate out.
If hearthstone was an rpg where you can just hangout with people in the tavern, and you can carry around a collection book, start trading cards with friends, like for example instead of just using dust to get cards you would trade x amount of duplicates of any rarity and trade them for certain cards with others but also keeping your dust. You could can go to shops where they sell all sorts of decks related to the meta or wild shops for anyone interested in that. I feel like this would make your friends on your list actually friends instead of just people on a list you can only vs with 1 at a time. Mini games like even 2v2 would be fun in this rpg world, just something way interactive. And if you wanna spend money the option would still be there. Maybe for buying skins for your characther, collection book, cards backs, new cloths, shit not why even add quests to go with your friends to grind for like golden cards the higher the rarity the harder it is. also having the chance to actually enjoy your card backs and see the back side of it, idk thats why always bugged me in game lol. Anyways the game i feel it needs to solve its social interactions of friends in your list actually being friends. And take a more wow approach to the game. also financial flexibility especially during covid like come on. And ways for new players not to feel confused and lost in the meta while being overwhelmed.
Thank you bro for speaking out with everyone else. I've been playing this game for 3 years and I've only ever spent 20 EUR to get a solo mode. I never ever understood how people can pay up to 120 EUR per expansion for an incomplete collection of that expansion. Personally if there was a 100 EUR bundle that unlocked all the cards for an expansion I would definitely buy it & even then that is a pretty steep price to do x4 a year. I love this game but I've never ever gotten to experience it at its full potential. From constructed where I can only make 1 good deck & a bunch of budget decks per expansion, from not being able to participate in most 'build your own deck' tavern brawls, in Battlegrounds where I am literally fucking muted & cannot interact with other players (not mentioning that a match history is barred behind a paywall) and now duels where you are actually penalized for not having a certain amount of cards of an expansion to use a hero power. I'm happy people are discussing this but ultimately I feel like they will just barely change the reward system & never address the dust cost of a legendary or the actual monetization issues of this game.
That's actually the reason why I switched to wild, wild is way more expensive on the entry BUT having your cards forever and having the ability to play decks that are old but still viable makes up for it. And, even the wild meta is a bit off atm I'm never coming back to standard. At high legend (20) people play decks with only 1 legendary, wild is truly underrated in terms of price...
i spent on the 45 pack bundle but i forsee this expansion as the last expansion to spend money but i will leave it to the next gen of hearthstone players and streamers to play and support the developers lol i heard Runterra is neat lil card game i will probably look at it while playing dota 2 :) i will try play casually now just doing quest on this hearthstone game and just dont spend money any more less stress on me :D
@@GenericMedusa99 i like the game, but the developers do not appricate us enough, we are the ones making hs go around and yet they still fucks us players over :)
Gold from reward track allows to buy 52 pacs which will give you all commons and rares, 50% epics, and 3-5 legendaries. This is enought to buid couple decks.
@@uranterra2725 no, i buy 50 packs an expansion with gold i save and get 2 legendaries if im lucky. Dont get me started on epics.. ive been playing since beta and have to dust all the old cards to stay current and have relevant decks to rank
@@uranterra2725 52 pack for 3-5 legendries is a strecth. Supposedly legendries appear once every 20 packs on average (with a pity timer at 40 packs). However the first pity timer is at 10 pack for a new pack type (expansion). So 1 legendary in the first 10 packs. 1 legendary in the next 20 and another legendary in the next 20 for a total of 50 packs. However, that is average luck. While its true that your luck might be better and you can get up to 4 legendries. Your luck can also be worse and go down to only 2 legendries in 50 packs. A blanket statement of 3-5 legendries for 52 packs is just wrong, because approximately 50% of all players will get 2 legendries.
Every reason you just outlined, paying so much and not even getting all of the cards you need, it absurd. Hearthstone is DEAD, or quite frankly, needs to die. A company should not be rewarded for being so damn greedy. It's disgusting.
@@mrscias-911 Move to it as fast as you possibly can - consistent patches, friendly f2p economy, less time needed to invest, much more interactible matches
Whales are the only ones who can actually change the game. F2p players are just noise for them at this point. I've heard a ton of complaints and nothing's changed. Worst thing is, whales do not even think about the rest of the playerbase. As a whale myself, i've skipped a couple of expansions just because i didn't want to invest more money into such shitty practises. In the last 2 years,i've bought 3 out of 6 expansions and nothing else but preorders. Had fun for a couple days but then meta became the clown fiesta it always is. I'm skipping the next,i'll buy whatever i can with gold and if it's not enough, bgs will do.
@@RumorsOfPie i was playig at the open beta on SEA server but got bored since it's the first Outlands expansion and pretty much my playing time was on the Demon Hunter laddering. But since the new reward system is so bad right now, maybe I'll quit hearthstone for good
this is literally the reason i stopped playing, i can’t believe they’re making it worse. riot’s system in runeterra is perfect, idk why blizz thought this was the way to go. (would love to see u try LoR btw 👀)
I remember when HotS became open beta or on full release. The first thing that happened, they doubled the prices. I think that was even a few days before.
I think everyone knew that the changes would be bad for content creators/people who play a *lot*. But this is bad for the casual player, which the changes were supposed to favor. Very lame.
Thanks so much for bringing this up! Just the other day I was checking out another streamer's awesome deck being played, and it had 8 Legendary cards from the various expansions. I actually commented, "the next time I have an extra $500 to spend on trying to get these legendary cards, I'll be sure to try this out!" How about just offering a la carte' legendary purchase? I'd probably pay $5 for each one I need ($125 for all 25)
Things I'll do to change the reward system: 1. Instead of old packs, you can get dust instead because there's currently no way to get them expect for certain quest and disenchanting dusts. 2. Halved the xp needed for leveling up. The current one imo is a bit long. Or we can use stars instead of xp, while quest gives stars to level up your battle pass (2 to 3 star per quest sounds fine to me) 3. Achievement points should be useful. Use them to exchange packs or gold or special achievement card back, hero portrait or coin skins.
This makes so sense. If you put it this way, Blizzards employees may be struggling too, and if they are then they need to charge for their expansions. This game doesn’t have to be cheap for you or for people struggling. Would I like it to be? Absolutely. Do I expect it to be? Absolutely not.
I'm certain the most important thing to people who are financially struggling and have lost their job are mostly worried about a battle pass in digital card game, rather them than feeding themselves or affording their housing bills
I'm out in 4 months. I'm a regular player but since 2015 I've purchase all the pre-orders! Each season they reward me with 11/12k gold! But now, only getting 6/7k... sorry! I'm out in 4 months @playheathstone!
It makes me so sad. I hit legend over 2 years straight, hit top 500 a couple times, just to skip one expansion and be completely screwed when I got back if I wasn't willing to drop 200+ dollars, and it's even more in CAD. 100$ for a preorder. Won't be coming back until it's fixed.
And to add up to it, the golden packs don’t count as packs for the « 1 legendary in the 10 first expansion packs » cuz I opened the 5 golden ones and still had to open exactly 10 regular ones to get my leg
They should introduce wildcards like mtg arena does where you can open up a pack and sometimes instead of getting an actual card you get a token you can redeem for any card of that rarity.
I was super obsessed from around may-august right as scholo dropped. Once the new expansion came out I realized I wasn’t going to be able to keep up with the meta without spending a lot of money. I like hearthstone but idk about spending $200 3x a year for a digital card game. It’s too much for a casual player like myself. I honestly like watching hearthstone more than playing it at the is point. This is all before this new BP mess... great video dekks
Legends of runeterra: A little harder to grasp since it is more complex than HS be it a good or bad thing for you Its insanely f2p friendly. You can get a competitive deck within a couple hour of playtime. Rewards are based on xp, wins give you more xp and you get a huge boost for the first games a day. XP levels up your “regions” (classes) and the weekly chests. Both giving you for free a ton of cards. I dont even consider I have a big playtime and I basically have an almost full collection. Being able to play any deck I want by logging in every couple days and doing daily quests. You cannot desenchant stuff, if you get a dupe its turned into essence in a decent rate (not sure on the exact %). Also rewards from “packs” and the “packs” themselves can randomly upgrade into better quality or cards into wild cards. Wildcards can be traded for any card of said quality. With my play time I always get most decks I like from an expansion and get a good chunk of essence and wildcard so I can immediately build a deck on the next one. You might prefer HS gameplay you do you, but as a whole game, LoR is far better.
Bless you Dekks, you've done what needed to be done and the community is grateful. Zeddy, Solem, Old Guardian, you and hopefully others that follow are the kind of people we need looking out for us. You have the influence and if enough of you come together, hopefully in combination with all the outrage, Blizzard will have to give in and finally make a big change that fairly rewards the loyal and worthy following they're lucky to have.
Thanks for this Dekkster, it's important you've had your input and hopefully it'll change things. I gotta say that in the current financial climate, people have lost their jobs and are sometimes struggling to even put food on the table. So making such a fun game that gives us all a break from real life almost inaccessible for casual FTP players like me by the time next expansion comes around is a bit under-handed to say the least. I'll be able to get about 60 packs from the gold I've saved this time around which is about average for me and I would hate to give the game up when the next expansion comes around cos I'll be unable to afford to build any decent decks..... One thing Blizzard won't be doing is making me spend money by doing this and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same.
Runetera has a better system but it's not that fun to me so I stopped playing card games this year I guess I'm burned out from playing hearthstone for 3 years
I've been playing hearthstone on/off for the past god knows how long (probably 5 years at least) and i've been mainly free to play and i've got by with my collection. I used to farm gold, play arena, make my gold back and get a pack in return. Now they'd added this tavern pass and taken all gold away from free to play players I can't do this anymore. No way am i spending that much money on the tavern pass. I think i'm just going to get by from now on just playing battlegrounds and duels. As you say, it is ridiculous expecting their players to pay this, on top of extortionate pre-purchase bundles. I've always felt quite frustrated by Blizzard's money grabbing schemes and lack of rewards for loyal players but frustration has turned into anger and I feel i may have to stop playing altogether. Thankyou for making this video, and i hope other content creators follow suit. If only I didn't need the game as a procrastinating tool, i'd be much better off ;) Good luck at the tables and never stop fighting for gamers rights!
You and other content creators speaking up means a ton to the community .From the most casual player to all the think tanks and the pros , we have to fight this fight together In my opinion the things that absolutely have to change are 1)The 16 packs that we get from levels 1-50 should be latest expansion packs and not latest year 2)The tavern pass thingie should be included in both preorder bundles (or at least the mega bundle) 3)Dunno if i am unreasonable but the total exp needed for each level up should be ~40% less . Yeah level 150 should only be for the hardcore players as intented but level 55-60 should be an easy target for almost everyone
Once i tried out the new system as someone who plays not even really consistent and more for fun, used to be a bit more competitive but the cost was killing it for me. I am one of those whales and spent way too much. I mean i came from MTG and WOOOFF its barrier of entry is kind of steep depending format. I've switched to Runeterra over HS and i LOVE their reward system, even if you are playing for fun or competitive you are still getting rewarded. Wildcards help, shards help, you get chests based on how much you played to get MORE cards. Only thing you pay for is cosmetic. There's a few card bundles if you don't have the cards or whatever and just want to jump right into playing a deck. I just don't get how blizzard cant just learn from other Digital CCG rewards systems, even take notes from it but nope... they really need to re-evaluate this new reward system as some of your suggestions I agree with. Just wanted to vomit my thoughts lol
Couldn’t agree more with this vid. How are people supposed to get into this game when they have to pay upwards of $500 just to get the cards they need to be competitive. And then to have to repeat that every 4 months is just ridiculous.
Good talk dekks, I am done spending money on HS. I have stopped preordering since scholomance. I did the math and everything like you did, and I realized wtf am I doing doing. If I had saved up on that money I could have bought a next gen console at launch and a few AAA titles along with it. The prices are crazy, even after spending so much I have yet to say that I have a complete collection for any expansion. Sure I can do that by crafting out the few remaining cards but damn the dust values are atrocious. Moreover, the new battlepass system forces you to grind, and I don't have time as I used to. The older method allowed me to log in every 3 days and get the daily quests done.
Practically they gave us something to pop up on the lower left of the screen every once in a while and you have to go and click more to gain small amount of xp. Great job Blizzard. Rip us off more please! Thank you Dekkster for bringing it on and feeling it for the community.
Current Battle Pass excluding Silas and cosmetics using 2,000 gold as minimum loss from old quests/wins. With Scholomance launch plus special mid-season event we got 1 legendary, 9 new packs and 6 old packs With the battle pass, if we reach lvl 50, we get 2 legendaries, 1 epic, 2 tavern tickets, 7 new packs and 9 old packs If the "SPECIAL EVENT" only grants XP, because the event awards are rolled into the battle pass, then we spent at least 2000 gold and 2 new packs to get (3 old packs, 1 legendary, 1 epic, 2 tavern tickets). "Change Blizz is going to make" If they replace the last 6 card rewards with gold and "Special events give XP only without additional rewards" then this is what we get. We paid (4 new packs, 1 old pack. and 650 gold) to get (1 legendary, 1 epic, 2 tavern tickets). If my math is wrong please correct me.
I have only been playing one class since the The Frozen Throne expansion or whatever the name is where the lich king came out :/ cant keep up otherwise at all and it sucks so much
i have been freetoplay playing 2 classes since launch. ofc one of them is random mage, only way to compete against tier 1 decks is with pure luck i guess
Man, from a while ago I decided to play the game without spending money, because I decided to be "ok" without new skins and such, and also because it's impossible to spend all the money they ask for, in normal jobs here in Brazil we earn like four/five times less... I would really be ok without skins.. but it turns out that I am missing too much cards.. and this is too painful, because I like this game...
Real talk, at this point I don't see why anyone that isn't a content creator or have huge amounts or disposable income doesn't simply migrate to Legends of Runeterra.
Honestly I prefer Hearthstone's gameplay. It feels more casual than LoR. I often don't give the card game my 100% attention. I like to take my turn and get up to go grab something, am watching a movie/netflix, or anything else. Having actions on my opponents turn makes for interactive gameplay, but its not the gameplay that I'm looking for. I don't want to have to be focused to play a reaction to their spells on their turn.
I took a break for one expansion. ONE. I feel so behind now--it took me 3 years of completing quests (relatively efficiently) and a lot of money over those 3 years to get to the point where I basically could play any meta deck, and craft a few meme decks each expansion. This tavern pass change has completely changed things--now it's significantly more expensive/time consuming for me. I was really hyped for the new set, but now I feel kind of stupid for buying the bundle. Activision-Blizzard really needs to ask themselves this question: "If I expect people to spend $1200 per year on my products, am I really delivering $1200 worth of content?" The bottom line is this: this game's cost has inflated way beyond what's reasonable, and if I could return my packs and get my money back, I probably would. We really do need to vote with our dollars as a community, and I plan on not spending any more money until Blizzard makes some serious changes.
The part about you getting 3 legendaries out of 130 packs hits so hard. I had to dust my entire collection just to make 90% of a deck I want to play. My entire collection and I can't even make a full deck, oh I have also spend around 150$ total on this game.
I have been following your content for 3 plus years now - Thank you for saying what you have said - The thing that is irritating me is not the progression and achievements update it is the fact we as customers have been LIED to - it is a bitter pill to swallow and I understand people's anger 100%
The take a break from HS is what I did and now I don't play standard any more because of it. I just play battlegrounds and wizards duels. I've dusted every duplicate I have cause I don't ever see myself going back to standard.
Your proposals are 100% accurate. If they want Hearthstone to continue to be around, they need increased dust value, revert the gold loss just add in the 100gold/3wins, and need to up the XP gains. I literally do not recommend the game to new users, I straight up tell them it's a waste of money.
The entire Blizzard team including the Hearthstone team has drastically gone downhill. They prioritize greed and monetization while leaving the fanbase dissatisfied. Thank you Dekkster for sympathizing and putting your opinion out there! I truly think content creators are the catalyst for needed change.
@@lillybareham1257 pretty sure the 2nd line refers to Hearthstone. Legend of runeterra is one of the best free to play card game where you can grind the entire collection within a year.
@@lillybareham1257 It is much better. The reward system feels amazing, you can get a competitive deck going really quickly and as you expand your collection, you can adjust and make new ones. The balance out there is quite good, some champions were problematic but the balance team really works out and tries it's best to keep it all balanced. You have a vault system, the more you play during the week, the higher your rewards, you get quests that give you exp to the vault and basically with just the first win of the day (or playing some games basically) the vault goes to a level in which your rewards are very good, you can do that everyday in less than one hour. Also, you don't have packs, you can just straight buy the cards you want! The vault gives you a random legendary each week or a wild card that you can choose which legendary it will become. You also have duplicated protection on chests for epics and legendary, so when you open up chests on your reward track- that by the way, is completely independent from the vault so you get reward twice for playing the game - you don't get to keep rolling the same thing. Only downside of Runeterra is complexity, it can be a little odd to understand at first and it requires a lot of strategy but that is actually a good thing for me!
I started relatively recently watching your content and before watching this vid i must admit that i wouldn't expect any youtubers that get sponsored by blizzard through bundles and sh1t to raffle for their viewers and keep everyone happy, or better keep their mouths closed but i'm very glad you are taking a stand for the f2p players, even the low budget ones because indeed such practices of greed from companies like blizzard need to be called out. Sure they are a company and sure they want to make money but there are so many other ways that they could use like the cosmetics you mentioned that wouldn't hurt the players. Blizzard seem to forget that there is a pandemic going on, people all over the world are already having hard time coping with it and yet they expect for players to pay for the preorders plus the scammy pass, well when they start losing players to other games more generous and perhaps even more fun it may be already late.
Dekkster you hit the nail on the head. I am a school teacher and I used to watch your videos during my prep period while i graded papers but I took a break for a couple xpacs to play Wow with my son and there is no way I could come back now..... You hit the nail on the head man. I can never come back to this game unless something drastically changes. I love Hearthstone but it's never going to be my #1 game, but I would love it to be my #2 but it's just too punishing to take a break and come back.
All they need to do is copy runeterra or mtgA and give people wildcards instead of packs/dust. Imo dust is a very stupid mechanic, its the equivalent of if u open a magic card but if u were to trade or sell its only worth 1/4 of its value.
Hi, Dekkster, thanks for speaking out for our ordinary player, really really proud of you! And would you mind if I share your video to the Chinese player community? I think it should be heard by more people.
I get the feeling the exp->gold gain ratio would actually be balanced if every reward was a gold bag of the respective gold tier, which would make it about 30 exp per gold. At this rate only people playing aggro decks would lose out slightly compared to before while everyone else (especially bg/arena players) benefits. As is 40% of the rewards are lost to packs though which are useless to bg/arena players and depending on which pack it is the value is probably around 50-80g for constructed. It's even sadder that the card rewards don't scale up (e.g. the last page should probably reward 4 packs instead of a single one)
I have gone through waves of playing then taking a 2-3 expansion Hiatus since the games debut - I totally agree that when you're trying to pickup the game again you basically are destined for mediocrity until you play for a few expansions (As A F2P Player) consistently again. Even as a player who has purchased the last 2 expansions, I still find matches that I lose because I'm simply missing a key legendary card from an expansion and have an ultimately lower Power Level of a deck (ie I missed all the Galakrond and adventure stuff so I don't have Kronx or any adventure cards like Amazing Reno etc. ) The fact that Hearthstone has been getting more punishing to play lots of makes it seem pretttttty rough to get back into. I only have 1 friend that plays now, when I used to have at least 5 in my immediate friend cricle playing - and I don't anticipate they will return ever again at this rate even if I won a mega bundle for them on Dekks stream lol
I figured I’d share my thoughts on the new Battle Pass just as some other content creators (Solem, Zeddy, etc) have decided to do. The new system makes the game far more expensive and hopefully we can change that.
Thanks for speaking up for the average Hearthstone player!
Agree and this is why I'm slowly not playing as much. I still love the game but the game is going downhill.

Here are some changes I feel like need to be implemented cause this is honestly getting out of hand:
- Either reduce the EXP needed to level up or make everything give a lot more exp.

You might consider switching to Wild format. It's a lot cheaper because you don't need to keep buying/dusting for entire decks worth of cards multiple times.

I feel like they really are just trying to milk the player base, I just hope this game is hit by any new loot box regulations made in the UK
TO do a X3 a year***** not X4 , there are only 3 EXP a year.

So 1 legendary in the first 10 packs. 1 legendary in the next 20 and another legendary in the next 20 for a total of 50 packs. However, that is average luck. 1. Instead of old packs, you can get dust instead because there's currently no way to get them expect for certain quest and disenchanting dusts.
2. Halved the xp needed for leveling up. The current one imo is a bit long. Or we can use stars instead of xp, while quest gives stars to level up your battle pass (2 to 3 star per quest sounds fine to me)
3. Achievement points should be useful. Use them to exchange packs or gold or special achievement card back, hero portrait or coin skins.
Also let's not forget this is $20 during the year 2020 when so many people are experiencing financial crisis.
This makes so sense. If you put it this way, Blizzards employees may be struggling too, and if they are then they need to charge for their expansions. This game doesn’t have to be cheap for you or for people struggling. Would I like it to be? Absolutely. Do I expect it to be? Absolutely not.
You better spending your money on others than children card games if you experiencing financial crisis man.. anyway, good luck for you
I'm certain the most important thing to people who are financially struggling and have lost their job are mostly worried about a battle pass in digital card game, rather them than feeding themselves or affording their housing bills
REDUCE CARD ENCHANTING COST, INSANELY AND UNNESCESARILY EXPENSIVE
I'm out in 4 months. I'm a regular player but since 2015 I've purchase all the pre-orders! Each season they reward me with 11/12k gold! But now, only getting 6/7k... sorry! I'm out in 4 months @playheathstone!
It makes me so sad. I hit legend over 2 years straight, hit top 500 a couple times, just to skip one expansion and be completely screwed when I got back if I wasn't willing to drop 200+ dollars, and it's even more in CAD. 100$ for a preorder. Won't be coming back until it's fixed.
This is why I stopped playing HS, really a shame.
This is why I stick to wild. Have more fun that way since I mainly do OTK decks.
Legends of runeterra:
A little harder to grasp since it is more complex than HS be it a good or bad thing for you
Its insanely f2p friendly.
You should check out gwent its a different system to the typical card game and from my experience the easiest free 2 play game with no grind
inviting friend to hearthstone feels like inviting them to a scam:
you have to spend thousand dollars but still dont get even half of the game
Bless you Dekks, you've done what needed to be done and the community is grateful. Zeddy, Solem, Old Guardian, you and hopefully others that follow are the kind of people we need looking out for us. You have the influence and if enough of you come together, hopefully in combination with all the outrage, Blizzard will have to give in and finally make a big change that fairly rewards the loyal and worthy following they're lucky to have.
This is exactly why I only play BG now...... can’t stay current.
The more i play Runnetera, the more i want to quit HS,if they dont fix this, its godbye hs hello Runnetera.
Runetera has a better system but it's not that fun to me so I stopped playing card games this year I guess I'm burned out from playing hearthstone for 3 years
@@badrisnake agreed,i stoped playin league after 9years.
If only I didn't need the game as a procrastinating tool, i'd be much better off ;) Good luck at the tables and never stop fighting for gamers rights!
i have nothing to say ,except thank you
Means a lot that you're speaking out Dekks, keep up the good content!
Community: why did you do it?
Blizzard: i like money.
You and other content creators speaking up means a ton to the community .From the most casual player to all the think tanks and the pros , we have to fight this fight together
In my opinion the things that absolutely have to change are
1)The 16 packs that we get from levels 1-50 should be latest expansion packs and not latest year
2)The tavern pass thingie should be included in both preorder bundles (or at least the mega bundle)
3)Dunno if i am unreasonable but the total exp needed for each level up should be ~40% less . Yeah level 150 should only be for the hardcore players as intented but level 55-60 should be an easy target for almost everyone
How brave! Great to see some people go against the grain. This has gotten no attention before this.
I’m so happy you chose to speak out on this Dekkster
They must return 10 gold per 3 wins, without this, BP will be pointless.
Arent they giving like a whole meta deck in the beginning tho?
@@hematemesis6992 i havent heard that
Good talk dekks, I am done spending money on HS. The older method allowed me to log in every 3 days and get the daily quests done.
i don't play constructed anymore cause you need way too many cards, that's why i only play battlegrounds, duels, or arena and tavern brawls.
Practically they gave us something to pop up on the lower left of the screen every once in a while and you have to go and click more to gain small amount of xp. Great job Blizzard. Rip us off more please! Thank you Dekkster for bringing it on and feeling it for the community.
the 3 dislike are developers from ACTIVISION, i guess truth hurts
Don't shit on the developers - they don't choose the monetization strategy. Most of them are probably hoping to get out of Act-Blizz.
@@WSmith-wo4sc sorry. Act-Blizz is Blizzard. It’s all the same, and if you think otherwise you have been blinded
Current Battle Pass excluding Silas and cosmetics using 2,000 gold as minimum loss from old quests/wins.
With Scholomance launch plus special mid-season event we got
1 legendary, 9 new packs and 6 old packs
With the battle pass, if we reach lvl 50, we get
2 legendaries, 1 epic, 2 tavern tickets, 7 new packs and 9 old packs
If the "SPECIAL EVENT" only grants XP, because the event awards are rolled into the battle pass, then we spent at least 2000 gold and 2 new packs to get (3 old packs, 1 legendary, 1 epic, 2 tavern tickets).
"Change Blizz is going to make"
If they replace the last 6 card rewards with gold and "Special events give XP only without additional rewards" then this is what we get.
We paid (4 new packs, 1 old pack. and 650 gold) to get (1 legendary, 1 epic, 2 tavern tickets). If my math is wrong please correct me.
hearthstone is slowly becoming a "pay to play more than one class" game
Has been for a very long time.
One might say: Always has been
Its exactly that...
I have only been playing one class since the The Frozen Throne expansion or whatever the name is where the lich king came out :/ cant keep up otherwise at all and it sucks so much
it literally never hasnt been lol
i have been freetoplay playing 2 classes since launch.
ofc one of them is random mage, only way to compete against tier 1 decks is with pure luck i guess
Activision-Blizzard really needs to ask themselves this question: "If I expect people to spend $1200 per year on my products, am I really delivering $1200 worth of content?"
The bottom line is this: this game's cost has inflated way beyond what's reasonable, and if I could return my packs and get my money back, I probably would. We really do need to vote with our dollars as a community, and I plan on not spending any more money until Blizzard makes some serious changes.
Better video than regis, just due to the fact that you didn’t sugar coat the pass and mistakes like he did
Thank you for speaking out. We need content creator's voices in this.
The part about you getting 3 legendaries out of 130 packs hits so hard. I had to dust my entire collection just to make 90% of a deck I want to play. My entire collection and I can't even make a full deck, oh I have also spend around 150$ total on this game.
I bought the 80 bucks bundle every expansion since the witchwood, and i dont even the whole classic set
Good to see you raise your voice on this issue Dekkster
Thats why i only play 3 different classes :(..
I always play only 3-4 classes so for me it doesn't matter
I have been following your content for 3 plus years now - Thank you for saying what you have said - The thing that is irritating me is not the progression and achievements update it is the fact we as customers have been LIED to - it is a bitter pill to swallow and I understand people's anger 100%
The take a break from HS is what I did and now I don't play standard any more because of it. I just play battlegrounds and wizards duels. I've dusted every duplicate I have cause I don't ever see myself going back to standard.
Probably going FTP after this one. I don't care about getting extra hero picks in BG
Just go wild some meta decks doesnt change much in wild
@@Blomgrum yeah but the issue there is I was a pure standard player before I took a break so I was dusting every set as they rotated out
@@carthagegaming5545 me too just slowly rotate towards wild you can play demon hunter hunter in wild you need only old neuturals that way
@@Blomgrum ew. Demon hunter.
I play mostly priest shaman warlock and druid... I like slow greedy decks lol
Your proposals are 100% accurate. If they want Hearthstone to continue to be around, they need increased dust value, revert the gold loss just add in the 100gold/3wins, and need to up the XP gains. I literally do not recommend the game to new users, I straight up tell them it's a waste of money.
I enjoy Hearthstone but I cant afford it. They're losing me.
The entire Blizzard team including the Hearthstone team has drastically gone downhill. They prioritize greed and monetization while leaving the fanbase dissatisfied. Thank you Dekkster for sympathizing and putting your opinion out there! I truly think content creators are the catalyst for needed change.
Glad everyone is hopping on the "too expensive" bandwagon now and it's not just Solem. Maybe now Blizzard will listen.
Great to see more content creators speak up about the problems this pass brought to our favourite game. Good job, Dekkster! :)
I only have to say.... legends of Runaterra...
Really guys, let's stop them to use Us as bank.
Its that saying Rune is worse or better? Sorry Im not knowledgable about said game.
@@lillybareham1257 pretty sure the 2nd line refers to Hearthstone. Legend of runeterra is one of the best free to play card game where you can grind the entire collection within a year.
Yeaaaah but hearthstone is way better
Nice system but crap game *PEPEsad*
As long as people continue to play, and continue to pay for these passes, Blizzard will continue to make changes like this.
I only have 1 friend that plays now, when I used to have at least 5 in my immediate friend cricle playing - and I don't anticipate they will return ever again at this rate even if I won a mega bundle for them on Dekks stream lol
am i the only one who expected the battlegrounds perks to be combined with the paid tavern pass??
Nope, I thought that too, and It would all be available with a mega bundle purchase.
Thanks for making this video. Good chance blizzard will listen more if hearthstone content creators highlight awareness about it.
Just embrace the darkside and and enter the wild comunity lads. Way easier to compete as f2p.
for real per expansion you maybe need like 5 cards
