Joe Churchill we each bring something different. Coming from different backgrounds and living in geographically different regions refects on how we like our rigs set up too.
Could you have reached the front fender bolts through the header panel after removing the headlamp and turn signals? It would be nice to not have one less piece to pull off.
I have a 96 cherrokee with a dana 30 hi pinion reverse cut 354 gears i have ordered 5 gear sets for it and nobody can get it rite.have you ever had this problem with a dana axel i think its a prototypy or somthing.any ideas. I never had trouble finding gear for anyaxel that i have built
My driver’s side is pretty bad from some sort of impact during the previous owner’s administration but it highly contributed to it being $600 so I’m happy to deal with it until I find one in a junkyard or online that’s the same color, black with the same yellow stripe that’s in the one in this video.
great video - did I see the cowl drain at around 7.52 ? Should be a bent piece of the cowl side panel - I would need to clean up those holes. Any advice how to easiest do the job ? Remove the inner liners ? Thanks !
i'm looking forward to doing half this job to replace my windshield washer box. got broken when i had a front tire blowout on the highway. just wanted to scope out the job so there are no surprises on disassembly day. thanks for the post and showing where the bolts are located.
Can you guys make a video on how to install a snorkel that will be nice ..and explain how to relocate the washer reservoir tank ... thanks great channel BJ 👌👍
If you unplug the headlight wiring harness at the beginning, you can leave it all clipped into the header panel. In my opinion it's much easier to do it that way.
Just FYI there is a connector for the wiring harness just behind the front clip on the drivers side that lets you keep the harness attached to the clip and means you don't have to remove the headlight just the marker housing to get to the nut behind the housing.
Rather than trying the needlenose pliers on the antenna nut, if you happen to have a watch caseback wrench, then tend to work pretty good depending on the length of the studs.
i used a flat screw diver as a punch in the groves and tapped it lightly with a little mallet till it was loose (now i just read down in the comments and see others have already said that)
MrMrsregor Ironically, I've seen people use that same method on watch case backings, too. Sometimes it's just using whatever works or just whatever you have available.
Tim just wondering if you looked at your local Pick and Pull for OEM sheet metal? If not you might want to check Stockton the next time you have a need and venture into Ca. in your travels, they almost always have a few1996+ XJ's. Or just bite the bullet pay a little more and hit up J&W's Jeep recycling in Sacramento, they may have even had a green Jeep to match. OEM offers a much better fit and quality, and saves you paint work because they won't rust out as easy as the aftermarket primed fenders will when you don't back paint them. Also a rag around those vise-grip jaws would work at not shredding the nut. Just a thought. Good how to video though!
Steve Yulenburg I've been to J&W's a few times. Neat place to check out but the prices are $$$$. I'm curious to see how these $50 Amazon fenders hold up. So far they seem really good for for the price.
I have the same antenna nut on my dodge Durango. Took a piece of pipe that fit the nut and grinded it to fit only took a few min. Then I welded a nut to it but you could just vice grip the pipe and it'll work the same
Ya know, it's so enjoyable to watch other people work on vehicles while i sit in the comfort of my home lol. There's just a calming feeling knowing somebody else is taking care of the car and IT'S NOT ME! lol
Heh I feel like I need someone like you in my shop when I'm working on stuff. You seem to be more patient than myself. In videos at least I like to think I'm a patient guy, but it took me 2 days to install my metalcloaks on my TJ. I've given up on trying to install a blowoff valve on my Fiesta ST 3 different times. Ordered some new tools this time around. 4th time's a charm! Nice video by the way!
Good video but like Kyle Brazell said, just unplug the header wiring harness right in front of the airbox (large black plug). That way the headlights and all the wiring can stay in place and come off still attached to the header panel.
Dan Hambrick They'll probably stay black for a while. Long term I'd like them to match but its hard to justify the $ when I'll certainly scratch them right out of the gate! I think they look ok black. What do you think?
Thanks, I might have to do this in the future, I thought it would be way harder(cutting). I found some cool steel fenders with tube flares for $200! (supposedly HI-Lift compatible/tough, I hope they clear 35s! gotta find in bookmarks) I've been following your build, and If I had the means/talent I would build my XJ EXACTLY like yours. Love the modded Ford 9in, and 3 linked HP44 combo, all sittin low! (dream set up). Keep it up! Q; how much wider are your axles over stock?
+BleepinJeep 5 inches wider... This would work! (my tires are pushed out 4in anyway, so 5in would only be 0.5in wider on each side! New rims could help that) I just need the resources- my personal Manhattan project. Thanks all.

Should someone with fewer tools and no garage yo for for a 8.8/D30 combo? Thanks alot!
Colton S my replacement fenders were about $50ea on Amazon. I'm happy with them! They seem to line up ok. I couldn't ask for better in that price range.
BleepinJeep my vote would be for steel flares/ quarter panel armor. Probably would buy dirtbounds. Ill buy a set but that depends if the cops harass me or not
khndenmark The short answer is 4.5" lift and 33" tires. Be sure to watch the "Project Green Machine" playlist on our channel. It has everything that has been done to this Jeep in there.
Been there done that ,only because some Idiot didn't know how to drive, & I bought it any way as it was & then got into tearing it apart but I got rid of all them stupid star head bolts ,& put regular 6 sided head bolts back in , , mine was in tip shape motor wise but it was a gas hog , & it was only a 3.9 6 cylinder & not a 2×4 , so I can't imagine what kind of gas mileage your getting, so I moved to Colorado and sold it, because of the gas situation, I was going to aventually install me an HHO SYSTEM because of the gas thing
come on, jeeps are so easy to work on anyone can do it, the bolts dont rust, people dont makeshift pieces and parts, they keep their jeeps very maintained, you make it look difficult, you know working on heeps is a breeze :)

tim is my favourite from bleepin jeep
not to knock on the other guys. appreciate all your uploads
Joe Churchill we each bring something different. Coming from different backgrounds and living in geographically different regions refects on how we like our rigs set up too.
What size tork do u need for the tork bolts on the fender?
same question lol i was scrollin for the answer
Should have put cloth between vice grip
Good job fella, thanks for filming it .
Could you have reached the front fender bolts through the header panel after removing the headlamp and turn signals? It would be nice to not have one less piece to pull off.
How did you mount the rock sliders? Just drilled through both sides of the unibody? I want to add rock sliders to my ram

3.55
355 typo

Rear panel?
Excellent video. great editing! TO THE POINT!
I love that I’m from Utah and yeah I believe Moab has the hardest trails in the us
I think it looks pretty awesome without the fenders!
great video - did I see the cowl drain at around 7.52 ? Should be a bent piece of the cowl side panel - I would need to clean up those holes. Any advice how to easiest do the job ? Remove the inner liners ? Thanks !
Has the MOAB trip video came out yet?
Double U Farm Very soon.
Snap ring pliers might work on that antenna nut if the nut is not too tight.
i'm looking forward to doing half this job to replace my windshield washer box. got broken when i had a front tire blowout on the highway. just wanted to scope out the job so there are no surprises on disassembly day. thanks for the post and showing where the bolts are located.
Can you guys make a video on how to install a snorkel that will be nice ..and explain how to relocate the washer reservoir tank ... thanks great channel BJ 👌👍
we have 2 or 3 videos on making snorkels... google "bleepinjeep snorkel"
Looking forward to the installation vid.
Sorry mine was not a 4×4

Hi Tim. What typ of cordless screwdriver is that?
Off Driver Dewalt impact driver.
What Typ?
battery powered
Off Driver Dewalt, 20 volt battery, 1/4" impact driver. Not sure which model number... It works great! Been using it a lot for more than 3 years.
Thx. Nice work and nice car. Go on. Best wishes from germany.
Hey can you list the specs of your jeep because I have a 1998 2 Door cherokee as well and I love the look you have
Tommygod55 Watch the "Project Green Machine" play list on our page. Everything done to this Jeep is in there.

For the rest of the world that's called a quarter panel.

haha it sounds so much worse when you are talking about a watch case

I tried to replace my headlights with led ones but the screws for the metal to hold them in place are so rusted that they just strip. Any ideas?
Drill them out.
Yep start the drill!

Funny timing for a Tim video. Was driving home from work and saw you out driving down between the Valero and rays. Jeep looks great!
info b Thanks! Much appreciated.
This is always a good idea for those who daily drive. Not a big fan of cutting metal
Ya know, it's so enjoyable to watch other people work on vehicles while i sit in the comfort of my home lol. There's just a calming feeling knowing somebody else is taking care of the car and IT'S NOT ME! lol
Hell yeah! Nice video.
Yea he totally didn't mention the bitch of a time it is to get the wires unhooked from the clips which keep them on the header panel.
Are you in Oregon right now? Swear I just seen you..
ImpressThe Kid! Very possible! I was just running some errands around town.
I was trying to get you're Attention.
Well if it was you lol

Any issues just blame Matt... Thanks for the fender removal demonstration...
Good video but like Kyle Brazell said, just unplug the header wiring harness right in front of the airbox (large black plug). That way the headlights and all the wiring can stay in place and come off still attached to the header panel.
Put some padding in the vice grips
Who said that ? Good idea. I should have tried that first.
If you keep some of that thermo plastic in your toolbox, you can make soft grips for any tool you have.
finger of a leather glove works great
Are you going to paint the new fenders to match or just leave them black?
Dan Hambrick They'll probably stay black for a while. Long term I'd like them to match but its hard to justify the $ when I'll certainly scratch them right out of the gate! I think they look ok black. What do you think?
Yep it looks ok.What flares are you gonna run?
Thanks, I might have to do this in the future, I thought it would be way harder(cutting). I found some cool steel fenders with tube flares for $200! (supposedly HI-Lift compatible/tough, I hope they clear 35s! gotta find in bookmarks)

WoOsKii 1 Thanks! The Ford axles I used are 65" WMS to WMS. I forget what stock axles measure but you can look it up
BleepinJeep stock xj axle is 60" wide
+BleepinJeep 5 inches wider... This would work! (my tires are pushed out 4in anyway, so 5in would only be 0.5in wider on each side! New rims could help that) I just need the resources- my personal Manhattan project. Thanks all.
What axles are those? They look full width
Shane Glasgow They are. Watch the "Project Green Machine" playlist on our channer channel. It has all the vids on this Jeep.
Looked at the video, awesome build. I have a 2 dr 96 and this is exactly what im looking for. Could be future twin 😉😉.
i dig the cut fenders but for this jeep the new fenders definitely look better
Thanks, I might have to do this in the future, I thought it would be way harder(cutting). I found some cool steel fenders with tube flares for $200! (supposedly HI-Lift compatible/tough, I hope they clear 35s! gotta find the bookmark)

Hey bud, next time yo need to remove the antenna nut try using a flat head and a hammer to get it to loosen and to tighten
time for fiberglass fenders like the jeep speed rigs have!!
Tanner Never liked those much... Although the extra tire coverage I could use!
Taking all those lights out now would have been a perfect time to replace all the bulbs to led.
Next video, rock slider install
Drich748 Lol... I'll skip that.
I cut my fenders a little too much so I might have to do this too.
Colton S my replacement fenders were about $50ea on Amazon. I'm happy with them! They seem to line up ok. I couldn't ask for better in that price range.
Learned the importance of bumpstops?
Red XJ lol... affirmative.
Remove fenders? I thought that was what rocks and tree trunks are for?
I just let my tires clearance my fenders. lol
Bushwacker Flat Fenders???
brAnt Yep. Bushwacker flat style flares are next.
What about the Notch flares? Dont they cut up higher?
BleepinJeep my vote would be for steel flares/ quarter panel armor. Probably would buy dirtbounds. Ill buy a set but that depends if the cops harass me or not
You didn't even show us what the new fenders looked like?? WTH???
Randy Frame THE SUSPENSE!!!
BleepinJeep You guys do a great job with these videos. But come on man!!! Let's see them lol
Hi Tim nice video. How much have you lifted your Jeep and what size are you tires? Best regards from Denmark
khndenmark The short answer is 4.5" lift and 33" tires. Be sure to watch the "Project Green Machine" playlist on our channel. It has everything that has been done to this Jeep in there.
Hi tim, my name is also tim. Tim i have to shit
Did matt pay for those fenders ??? Lol
Trae Miller No. I wouldn't expect him too either. They had to be cut regardless of who did it. The tires would have popped. It was bad!
