The night my father passed away, I was driving away from the hospital, and this song came on the radio (it was 21 years ago). I had to pull over and cry. I still tear up, thinking about it.
Thanks for sharing - I’m sorry for your loss, this song has special meaning to so many people. Eric & Will really wrote one for the ages here. Take care ✌🏻
@@tomasocasiojr9748 I think I’ve healed about as well as one could. Kinda like being scabbed over just in time for my mother to be nearly 80 years old and worry about losing her. Guess that’s life.
Classical Guitar Virtuosos are always looking for the ULTIMATE ARRANGED that is FAITHFUL to the original and make THE GUITAR sound as a ONE MAN BAND: Melody, Rhythm and Harmony. This arrangement showcases that idea. Thanks Joe,
This is just so astonishing. This, together with TE cover are the 2 best versions of this song I've ever witnessed. Hope that some day there will be a collab of these 2 legends playing this song
Pleasure to see someone not only nail the voicing of this beautiful song but also add some tasteful creativity as well! Nicely done! Thanks for sharing.
Every now and then, I hear an arrangement of a song I like, and it inspires me to bring the song back out of the closet and challenge myself to improve it and make it better. This one did the trick. I"ll never be able to perform the song at this level, but I can fill it out and give it more depth compared to he way I used to do it.
My brother Rob was one of your biggest fans...he loved your guitar skills... always wanted your hat. Lol.He suddenly passed away last week, he was just 53 years old..I certainly will be playing your music at his funeral ...
One of my favourite songs of all time... So beautiful that it can't be touched. But you did a beautiful rendition by playing with your soul and your heart, and with your own way... Congratulations, Joe !
I'm aged 42 still today I'm trying to play this song...always loved it and with new techniques it soundd more beautiful especially with a professional guitarist...hats off
There's days I can't listen to this song as its sooo raw and it's about the loss of Eric's son. There's days I can listen to it. Now, I want to try and learn it thanks to you Joe. Its going to be a challenge with an index finger missing on the frets. You are truly gifted and an inspiration🙏 Thank you for this.👍
I've sung you praises for so long that I've exhausted all the acronyms. From here on out I'm going to just say THANK YOU and just know how grateful I am for you sharing your gift.
Tommy Emmanuel, Keith Urban, Angus & Malcolm Young, Joe Robinson, Taj Farrant. Man, what's in the water Down Under that keeps producing such exceptional guitar talent? Greetings from Texas!
Best cover of the song i’ve ever heard you can make The guitar sing so beautifully so Little people can do that like you and tommy Emmanuel are some of the only people I have herd do that on acoustic just amazing
Joe what a beautiful job you have done on this wonderful song! Your talent is simply amazing! This song came out just shortly before my 11 year old son Donny was struck by a car. My late wife and I donated Donny's organs so that others could live. A few days later I called the local radio station and asked the DJ if he would play the song in memory of Donny, which he did. I always tear up when I hear this song but there is hope in the words of this song! I am trying to learn to play this song on my guitar but will never get anywhere near the way you play it. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Do you tour and if so, do you ever make it to Erie, PA, I would love to hear you live.
Hi Joe, I really like the volume and tone of your guitar. It is now clearer and really good. Your amazing playing is unquestionable. I love your version of this song. Hopefully you could replay all your songs with this sound. Love from Malaysia.
I appreciate your hard work, Mr. Robinson. I was present on the third row of your breakout options the CAAS last summer. You left quite an impression on me related to a renewed appreciation of passion, humility, sustained dedication and following and creating the path of one's self in the world. I've told others about your ability and the pleasure from listening to your performance. Live and close does make a difference. - Will Perks SC
Joe, i've been following you since the day i found that you were the winner of aus got talent i mean you're blessed with this beautiful gift of music. Really you're one of the most talented and versatile guitar player all over the youtube, an absolute virtuoso guitar player IMO. would love to hear more of your music, covers everything and thanks for this tears in heaven.
Holy crap Joe...you've accomplished "musical" magic yet again...and made me 'tear up'. Why dad-gum-it does your playing always make me tear? Because...You are a talent beyond our imagination. My lord JRo...so perfectly performed!
Fantastic rendering on such a beautiful song Joe! Can't remember exactly how long I've been watching/listening to your videos, but you were just a teenager and I've really enjoyed watching you hone your skills and develop that God given gift! Thank you so much for sharing all that beautiful music with us!
Really well done, Joe. Great dynamics, nice personal musical interpretation, technique (as usual) and remarkable tone (just love that pure sound of flesh on strings sound). Certainly, one of the many reasons you'll be around for a long time.
I wanna learn this, but everytime I sing the song, or even hear any rendition of it, I can’t help but to break down, because it reminds me of my late grandma.
nice playing, yes same guitar as Tommy E. I saw him once in concert and bought a cd. amazing. I think tommy would call you a "certified guitar player" (high honour for those who do not know, Chet Atkins bestowed that title on Tommy E.)
I just managed to get the John Mayer slapping technique to come out of my fingers, still working on the details, consistency, hammer ons, pull offs and keeping the groove when switching patterns and chords, I’m getting there. But this seems like a great challenge! Beautifully played, tasteful little bends here and there and really kept the flow going. I’m gonna have to give this one a try too! Thanks for sharing!
So nice! You did, Eric, proud. How does a person come up with something so beautiful? There must be a god who every once in a while blesses someone with an exceptional gift.❤
Give a guitar lessoon dude, your playing is clean and smooth and whatnot....dang!
Music is so strong!

Sorry to hear that, I had an experience like that with my father but it was stairway to heaven. Hope you heal well, I’m still trying. RIP Dad.
@@tomasocasiojr9748 I think I’ve healed about as well as one could. Kinda like being scabbed over just in time for my mother to be nearly 80 years old and worry about losing her. Guess that’s life.
Just amazing that was only a guitar. It was intoxicating to listen to
Thanks Paul ✌🏻
I played this for my grandmothers funeral, you've just brought me back to that memory. 😭😭😭 Thank you Joe ❤️ music's like a memory bank.
Classical Guitar Virtuosos are always looking for the ULTIMATE ARRANGED that is FAITHFUL to the original and make THE GUITAR sound as a ONE MAN BAND: Melody, Rhythm and Harmony. This arrangement showcases that idea. Thanks Joe,
Gorgeous take on it Joe! Love it ❤️

The best fingerstyle cover ever! I love it! Greetings from Poland Joe!
One of the most beautiful interpretations, if not THE most beautiful one here on the web.
This is just so astonishing. This, together with TE cover are the 2 best versions of this song I've ever witnessed. Hope that some day there will be a collab of these 2 legends playing this song

Beautiful way of playing, these notes are clear and so nice, Wonderful Song, I'm a fan of Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Played this song with my son many years ago. This is by far the best version I’ve heard. Cheers. Great job.
