I enjoy the sobering way DA preaches how God uses sound pastor/teaches to exalt Himself. A dear brother in the
faith. May the Lord keep him and use him mightly

I got to say. I've enjoyed listening to anointed brothers in Christ Jesus in the likes of John Piper, who teach with such elegance and deep discernment in God's word. Don Carson is no exception.
This is amazing. God has anointed this sermon, the delivery is amazing. Thank you Jesus.

Great sermon. Helped me believe more fully in the resurrection of my physical body for some reason.

That's the power of the Living Word! It is another passage of the New Testament that always makes me particularly thankful; thankful that John wrote it down, and that the Lord did indeed raise Lazarus. It pre-figures Jesus' resurrection, and gives us huge, huge assurance that God is in the business only of giving people LIFE, in abundance, healing them and releasing them. And that Death itself is an enemy that is one day to be defeated.

Alexander says that this chapter may be important but even more important is the last chapter of the Gospel in which Peter, who was whiling away the time going on a fishing expedition, is told to demonstrate that he really loves Jesus by starting to preach Jesus's teaching instead of going back to fishing.

In India, even now, there is a lot of crying and wailing during funerals. Professional wailers are there.. conch is played for dirge music.

God did not tell Abraham to "slaughter his son." This is the error we fall into when we don't read scripture and only casually refer to it.

Jesus had almost superhuman powers. Even at that distance he could know that Lazarus was in a coma and that he would not be in a position to be summoned out of that coma until he actually arrived there. This account cannot have been invented even though the writer added the idea the Jesus was actually dead when he was not. The witness behind the Gospel was a young lad who had access to the Hight Priest's house and so often found out what was being said there.
