If you buy a pine board from Home Depot and cut it to size, it's a lot cheaper than buying them from Dollar Tree plus you don't have to sand them as much.

What did you use other than water to make the wood stain?

@sylviawoodcock6492 I used Apple Barrel Burnt Umber. It's my go-to for easy stains. I think it's only 56 cents.
