  • The Art of Effortless Living is a documentary based on the traditional philosophy and essential teaching of Taoism. The practice of nondoing, nonforcing is the essential aspect of Taoism known as wu-wei. Attributed to the great sage Lao-tzu, the philosophy of wu-wei teaches you how to develop a natural state of consciousness not bound by thought or preconceived limitations. Experienced by the greatest artists, athletes, musicians, and writers, this heightened state of consciousness, referred to as "being in the zone," is where intelligent spontaneity and effortless action flourish via a practice rooted in permitting the natural harmony of the cosmos to prevail. Essentially, how to live life effortlessly. Wu-wei can yield a renewed sense of trust in many aspects of your daily life, making each day more effortless. The Art of Effortless Living provides keen insight on how you can experience the beauty of achieving an enlightened, effortless mind while reveling in the process of life's unfolding.

A friend sent me this video. I have been going through the grief of losing my youngest daughter to a violent murder. This video was very informative and has me thinking that I need to listen to it again. My life has been devastated and I'm trying to find some peace. I am a Christian and pray many times a day. I am thankful in my prayers but I also ask for things that this video has made me see is not the right thing to do. Thank you for posted this video. Have a blessed day.

Respect, boundaries and individual rights. Know your inner power. Do not give away your power, use it for good. Govern your own mind, finances, weight, beliefs, home, cleanliness, organization and creativity. Your power is limitless, use it to serve and do good. School is where you should have learned what childish bullshit Taoism is. It's all a way of fooling yourself, or living life as a complete loser, but enjoying being that way.
Taoism says nothing, does nothing, is nothing. Point this out and a Taoist will usually say, "EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!". In a way, it's sad seeing people throw their lives away like this. Their lives, and their entire future. But something has to weed out the losers, and this takes its share out of the mix.

The paradox of a musician's flow is that it is only achieved through hours of practice and the development of muscle memory. Same with any skill, I guess. So the sensation of 'effortless living' requires effort. Is that a yin-yang thing?

    • @JaysonT1
      @JaysonT1 3 роки тому +6

@@kahnakuhl2009 What does that have to do with anything? A "bad" musican can be in a state of flow as much as a "good" one. You can be in a state of flow walking down the street. Are only the good walkers allowed to be in flow?

    • @kahnakuhl2009
      @kahnakuhl2009 3 роки тому +12

@@JaysonT1 I was assuming that being "in the flow" for a musician was referring to that sensation when it's as if thoughts and feelings are being transmitted directly through the instrument-there's no thought of correct fingering, chord structure or other technical aspects-it just seems to happen automatically, as if the instrument has become an extension of the mind.
Most of us walk like this, because we've practised it so much it becomes automatic. For a 12-month-old, however, or someone going through physical rehabilitation after a serious injury, there's nothing automatic or "flow state" about walking.
Perhaps I'm completely misunderstanding what is meant by "flow state". I'm very early in exploring these concepts and happy to be corrected.

Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. Yet paradoxically, the objective can never be attained if it is thought of as a goal to achieve. Yes. One becomes aware of a better way. Then they begin learn about it - study and acquire knowledge about it. They come to want the truth that they’re beginning to understand, but don’t yet have. At this point they’ve become an aspirant. As an aspirant they seek and practice this truth with a sincerity of spiritual desire. Then, as they truly awaken to the truth, they cease to aspire because they’ve come to realize that they already have it. That truth is already true for them. They are there. They have it. They are it.
Because this is how aspirants come to realize truth, does not mean that the earlier stages are misguided nor unnecessary.

Jelle Wever stillness of the mind is against the law of nature. Imagine how quickly any of the animals or our predecessors, the higher apes or early humans. would have been eaten while meditating.
Monks in Buddhist monasteries have been meditating and have given humanity what?
Imagine farmers seeking nirvana while their families and the rest of us are starving, or inventors and engineers not creating o builders not building, while yuppies are using all of the luxuries of modernity and meditating.

I was trying desperately to silence my mind through breath meditation and my yoga teacher said, 'why would try to silence or force your control over your mind like that? If your mind wonders, observe that wondering like a train passing by and then gently direct your mind back to your breath.' So I guess its important to go a bit easy and not force our control over our minds too.

🙏🏻 Jason. My awakening had been triggered by an otherworldly experience at the Yonghe lama temple in Beijing in Oct 2018. A massive beam of energy hit my head, I could feel it flowing down to my toes - it was so intense, that I felt my knees shaking and I had the feeling I would black out, so I immediately sat down and then tears started to appear, I soaked up the atmosphere... my real awakening happened massively and dramatically Nov 2019. Later I realized that I already had that flow integrated, it was hidden in my brain’s unconscious. I only became consciously aware of it when I studied philosophy such as Stoicism, Taoism basics, Hinduism basics, in a nutshell spirituality came into my life - unforced. It just happened out of curiosity, since then I have been observing many synchronicities. Spiritual awakening has been an emotional rollercoaster ride, several nervous breakdowns included and floods of tears. I have been releasing many traumata already and feel quite balanced, though it is still a long way to go.
Let me put it like this: I always have been different, and now I know why. Stunningly out of a sudden I have been starting to use my hands to accentuate my speech (without thinking about it). There is so much beauty in living in the now, especially when you train yourself to look at the world through the eyes of your inner child. In the past my mind was always busy, thinking in loops over and over. That stopped.
PS: In reality I only read Tao Te Ching late Summer 2020, and I was stunned that I understood it right away, and noticed that I have been applying many of the principles without even knowing them. Probably due to psychological knowledge and trusting my intuition fully. It seems it helps being highly sensitive, INTP, and very likely Aspie. My ADHD almost disappeared 😉. In my opinion higher consciousness is a way of accessing the power of the brain’s unconscious (automatically linked to subconscious and conscious) via universal consciousness.

Hey so I had this profound awakening, the day before new years eve of 2021. After I had been meditating for some time up in my third eye and doing treatment and all that jazz, I had some clairvoyant things happen I mean I was communicating with my third eye, as my higher self. Then new years eve fire works were going off and I layed down and then an explosion went off in the middle of my head. It quickly dissipated but then my third eye became prominent and then went away. But I've been in a state or ever lasting peace and harmony ever since. My thoughts have diminished, I'm excelling at work, got my own place and I don't think I have bipolar anymore. It's pretty surreal. Alan watts has a 54 minute video on mysticism, and it describes exactly how i feel. Anyway I hope you and everyone are awesome! ♡

It took me 10 years to figure out how this following “the way” actually works… it is listening to your body/(heart) a 100%… moving, eating, resting, thinking, feeling, talking they way your body wants.. letting everything happen (but off course if it’s something bad you want you can consciously choose to not do that but do something else instead that will also please your wantings (to those who are less broken this will be easier but to those who are very much conditioned or physically or mentally in a bad condition it is way harder then it seems... So good luck, keep practicing until it becomes a natural thing.. I’m also still practicing because I’ve also been conditioned to break myself so much that it will take a lot of practice)

Jason, I just want to say thank you for making this. I’ve silently watched this video over and over for some time now.
I was raised in a very emotionally damaging doomsday cult which marred my spiritual senses for many years after I woke up from it. In short, with much study and inner reflection, I now find myself a practicing Daoist.. finally letting go of the past and accepting the world as it is. I still understand very little and my journey is only beginning, but I just want you to know that I appreciate the work you’ve put in to make this, as it has been very helpful in leading me to a better place. Cheers.

It's why I'm here, I want to broaden my own limited abilities to understand and please God. I've learned too much to trust the church or my own understandings. As someone who calls Christianity a Nation... please, accept my deepest most personal apology, we know very little about whom we claim as our King. This is not the experience God commanded us to give and we have been wrong for centuries about everything. This isn't me trying to call you to my Country, I'm simply apologizing for the centuries of poor behavior, I'm personally shamed by the lack of God's glory we have shown and saddened by what you & God both were deprived in us.

@@edenmarble8048 it's okay :) it got me to the point I am at today, here and now. The irony isn't even in understanding, it's the political structure and power of churches that corrupts the teachings. The churches I was part of generally followed the Bible in it's literal sense - holy days, seven day sabbath, unclean meats, etc. And that makes sense, and I agree. But it is so easily manipulated into control and an interruption between the person and God. Without over intellectualizing the Bible is more or less talking about the way. However as you see now the world and this country, although largly Christian based, lacks the way/God and falls to discord as one would expect. That faith really does keep a nation together, instead of control, fears, and more laws - letting go is a powerful tool.

20 days ago my cat died. 😢 I was at the backyard, burying him and crying and praying when a woman showed up behind me. She was my first ever (baby) friend's mother. She came to visit me from afar, as i reminded her of her recently passed son. He went to coma a year ago and he passed away leaving behind a wife and three children.
My friend's mother and I automatically reconnected after 30 years of not being in touch. Few days later she asked if her husband could leave a little kitten in my care. He found this cat and saved him, but was afraid of border control as they were going back to Germany. Regardless of my own plans, I accepted to take the cat in as a favor and I simply could not refuse these good people. I took good care of the sweet cat and few days later I noticed a cough. I asked and they said she was already coughing before. I decided to give her a medication I normally gave to my cats few years ago when they all had some sort of cat flu. It helped them and they all recovered.
Few days later their cat suffered seizures and passed on. I suspect that dosage I gave her was too big and I accidentally overdose her and she died as my fault.
I don't need to explain that I don't feel like I deserve to live anymore. 😪 I finally understand the proverb: "Many are roads to Hell paved by Good Intentions. From now on, the only way I can keep on living is the Vu Wei Way ...

I will have to watch this multiple times. Deep and profound wisdom. I’ve recently felt that our world has become unnecessarily complex…. so many complex rules and systems that most of us get confused, frustrated, angry, depressed, anxious and sometimes violent in response. What we are doing is not sustainable. We are driving our selves crazy and Earth off a cliff. If we let be and let go, things flow. Doesn’t mean things flow in accordance with our preference, but the Tao takes care of us and itself, because we are part of “it.” At least that’s my understanding at this point. That is a huge relief to me. Taoism seems reminiscent of the book, Celestine Prophecy.

Not just that, to just FEEL the moment, not fighting it, but just "feel". There's so much more to be said related to this but that's the first step.. To feel the moment and embrace it. ~

      Dear Curly_Angela .
In this context, I refer mainly on the taoist scriptures.
The most popular I think, are the Tao Te Ching, and the works of Zuang Ze and Lie Ze, I highly recommend.
I myself have made my master in western philosophy, but also done academic studies of Christian Religion, as well as psychology and sociology.
I personal like the presocratic and medieval philosophers in western tradition.
I eastern tradition I had my main focus on Buddhist tradition spend quite some time living in Buddhist monasteries), but nowadays I concentrate on the taoistic scriptures.
But I have to say, that this one are the only scriptures in more than 30 years, I really struggle ;(
They are really very deep and dealing with a subject, that is very hard to verbalize.
It is absolutely necessary to do some kind of practice, to really understand the meaning.

Of course this goes hand in hand with the spiritual development, but as I see it, this is allways the most important fact to focus:
Keep your heart as pure as possibel and take good care, not to loose compasion and love, as the hinderences on the way will increase, because they have to, if your wish was, to really go beyond this wordly truth.
If there will be a situation, you can’t hold it any more, you may take refuge to smiling.

I talk about my past all the time not just to take away its power but also to help others to know they are nkt alone . I live as if I am 1 second old trying to stay in the second I am in . However if I can maybe help someone with my past or help the world understand how little they really know about what the abused really feel and how little of it they really can handle so they get just how it must feel inside these peoples head . I would just want to say that prayer doesn't necessarily mean to be forcing God's hand, (which I never have done), it can just be a meditation or thought or wish to our Higher Selves, as thus the Universe of Light. (Which is commonly called God).
It's a way of communicating with God, to be able to let go of what is troubling us or so. Also, a prayer can be to give gratitude to the Universe. I enjoy praying, it's as if I always have a friend I can trust to talk to about anything that crosses my mind! And that's so reassuring! 🙏😉
