@@bnelson_mtb In the season when BYU last played Utah, BYU "won" the PAC 12. BYU's first string was on par with most Power 5 programs', but it lacked depth so injuries to key players resulted in losses. Now, there's a chance to go the playoff. Getting into the playoff will attract more talent. Having a bigger pool of NIL money doesn't hurt either.

Byu has been beat down by utah every year and have won once in over two decades, utahs beaten them the other 20 times for two freeking decades, so slow down... the pac 12 was a waaay stronger conference than this one and utah won it the last two years, and were picked to win it for a reason , they're defense is literally right now ranked first in the big 12, have the best o line, great running back and the best roster... their qb got hurt and they're playing a true freshman who is not good enough to play college football yet, not for southern utah let alone utah, And EVERY TEAM IN THE COUNTRY WOULD LOSE IF THEY HAD WILSON AT QB RIGHT NOW, if they had a mediocre to avg qb they'd probably win the Big 12, but no team could win with a qb as bad as Wilson is right now... when he's better or replaced utah will again immediately be considered this mediocre conference's best program, so slow down on your utah catching up to byu take when they beat them annually for two decades now... and that the conference is just so tuff when utah won the last two in a way better conference than this mediocre big 12...

We have to blow the whole thing up. If whit decides to retire then it is what it is but he still is the guy of the future if he decides to stay. Honestly I hate that scalley has been named the head coach. The game is built for offense and we have to adapt to that. We have 3 and 4 stars everywhere and we can’t score more than 1 touchdown, that’s embarrassing. We need an offensive coach as our HC next year or whenever whit is done but if he stays, we need to bring that offensive guy in to be our OC and just promote him from there. People don’t like it but Brian Johnson should be our next head coach. Someone had to get thrown under the bus and unfortunately it was him in Philadelphia but I do believe he could take us to the next level. We as Utah fans often are too stubborn on the way “we do things” and we are going to get left in the past because of it if we don’t adapt to current times.

The loss to ND in 2010, after getting boat-raced by TCU the week before, is somewhat close as far as disappointment but, that team wasn't in the Pac-12/Big-12 and didn't hv the same type of talent. If this drop-off continues, we could see Kyle call it a career at year's end!

Held to 13 pts there's no reason why Utah should've lost poor offense! I'm on board for Isaac but he's not going to be at the top of his game until his last 2 years ! You got to have a top QB to put up points in CFB ! Look at Oregon 1/2 team in the country they went out and got Dillon what move ! Utah is trending in the wrong direction ! I get it you got cam you don't need a QB but cam was a bust because of injuries now there banking on Isaac so its put Utah in a bad situation! Look at fafiti he's a baller at Arizona but still young there not having a good season either ! Even know it's not all on the QB it looks that way Utah! The have been almost non existent in the red zone and getting into the end zone ! Utah was projected to win big12 and make the playoffs ! To possibly not even having a winning season ! If you look at Utah most of there winning season the QB was on there last 2 years of there college stint ! Utah has been neck and neck with oregon last couple years since then Oregon made all the rite moves to become a top 5 team in the country ! Utah needs to follow suit !

I find it interesting how a whole team can be judged by winning or losing. If you compare BYU with Utah their is one major difference
The quarterback. You have a kid just out of high school who has only 5 games under his belt. On the other hand, BYUs quarterback has had 2 years of JC experience, a full summer to evaluate what he did right and what he did wrong by playing the last 4 games of the previous season. He knows where to go when throwing the football. Unlike Wilson, he is in his comfort zone.

BYU fan here. Super frustrating when your QB room fails. When Jaren Hall left, 4 star Conover was originally lined up to take over but he ended up being so bad he transferred cuz he knew he was so bad… had to revamp. Gotta one year rental in Slovis and took a shot on a high rated Juco transfer for the future. Ended up having a really really bad year, cuz the qb room failed.
So my fellow BYU fans can come in here and be cringy about it but likely it’s a one year set back. (Side note yesterday was horrible for BYU’s strength of schedule resume with Utah, ASU and UCF losing)
Utah has a similar situation where they have nothing between the 7th year senior and the true freshman (making an assumption on Rose). QB room failed just like BYUs last year.

Because we have a true freshman QB. Do people forget that the pac-12 had oregon, Washington, usc, etc? BYU was in this same quarterback transition period last year, and look how good they are now - I'm dreading Nov 9th personally but at least someone will rep the state this year. Last year everyone was saying the same thing to BYU 'welcome to the big 12' 'wish you could go independent again right?' Say all you want, but our depth just isn't what we thought it was. Sure it's not the SEC or Big 10 at the top of our conference, but we've gotten used to beating up on a ton of weak, Mtn West level teams with most of the former Pac12. We were top dog there, and we still will be here, but the bottom level of the Big12 is higher than what we are used to. Since 2002 Utah has been one of the best teams in college football, and we will be again, but coaches need to focus on recruiting DEPTH so we can compete.
It sucks that Cam got injured because with him we are likely competing for a national championship DESPITE our other weaknesses, but we need to get tougher in the trenches and need solid guys so we can compete with the top end of our conference like Kstate, BYU, and Iowa State. They've had time to develop the depth they need, and I know we'll get it quickly.

@@acrsde What are you talking about? Do you watch football?? You realize Oregon, USC, and Washington were in the PAC. Tell me with a straight face that that TCU team was better than Bo Nix's Oregon and Michael Penix's Washington last year. Awful take. The PAC was absolutely a tougher conference than a big 12.

The inability to detect humor and sarcasm is running high in SLC.
