- DIY Mini Castle Craft Idea Using Air Dry Clay, Toilet Roll Tube and Waste
I am sharing cheap craft idea to make a mini castle using air dry clay, toilet roll tube, colgate toothpaste box, cardboard from waste and old newspaper. I got an idea from one of minecraft castle designs.
FYI, the toilet roll tube still can be reused as mini storage to keep your teeny-tiny things or as piggy bank.

Of course you can use any type/ brand of air dry clay.

To seal the clay I used universal primer before painting with acrylic paints. You can find it at amzn.to/2GWLpS7

Finally, after the paints dry I apply Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe - amzn.to/31A2s4j

Hi, WOW so INCREDIBLE! My son and I enjoyed your video so much we built our own using a tub of crayola air-dry clay. I have a question about working with the clay, do you have to add the primer before the clay drys? We built our castle yesterday and discovered many parts had cracked overnight...Thank you, Gina
Thank you. Glad to know that you built your own miniature castle with your son. The primer added after the clay dry. If your clay cracks, you can leave it as it it and paint it like aged building or patch the cracks with clay to have perfect surface. You can see in my other miniature fairy house project that I purposely make uneven clay surface for aging effect😊✌️ happy crafting

How did you stop the clay cracking on the toilet roll tubes?. I used clay on tubes and dried in a warm garage.The dried clay did not stick to the tubes. It was all cracked and the tubes went a funny triangular shape. It also became very brittle and broke easily. Looks as if the cardboard tubes absorbed all the water from the clay.
zybbok 😩 that’s very disappointing. My clay works okay. I apply the clay straight on toilet roll tube though. I’ve added clay on the tube edges as well and went down to the inside tube for about 1 - 2 cm.
@@clayitnow I didn't put the clay down the inside of the tubes, just up to the edge. There was nothing to support the edges of the tube. I think this was the reason the clay cracked as the cracks started from the top and bottom of the tube. I'll do this in future. Thanx for your reply and advice. Love your Mini Castle model.
