    Thanks Jim, I just did my 95 F150 and my wife's 2011 Kia Soul. This was an extremely easy upgrade to do, after watching your video.

    I’m running the S4 H11 Lowbeam in a Projector and F16 H7 Highbeam Reflector . Had them a year no issues , no blinding oncoming drivers and no flickering .

    I bought some aftermarket LEDs for my car. The little colored plastic sheets go onto the glass covering the led. LEDs will blind oncoming drivers but most people don't install the bulbs the right way. My LED's are adjustable so that you can ensure the light pattern is correct for the low beam and not up high blinding others. I used the blue film on the bulb and tested it by asking some people if my lights are blinding them while they drive, they said no. If the lights do not have the right orientation you might as well be driving around with your high beams on.

    I believe the film pieces included in the box are for aiming your headlights. Notice the "cross" built in? They also help lower the brightness to make it easier to see the pattern on a flat surface and more accurate.

    I've tried them all, including these. They all run very hot and either the diode fries out or the fan burns out. All lasted no longer than about 9 months. Save your time and money and get a quality HID kit like Morimoto.

    • @MRXENONCHIH
      @MRXENONCHIH 8 років тому +3

      Exactly Good HID will always be better than these led replacements
      if its too bright it will eventually fry and if it too dim to make it last you will be having trouble driving at night

      Replaced my OEM HID's with the OSRAM Nighbreaker bulbs, bought from Retrofitsource. Light output were incredible, miss the HID's, had to replace car, and my new vehicle came with halogen. Still researching my HID options, LED aftermarket are not that good, OEM LED's are better, but HID are better.

      The reviews I've seen have them being tested in both, they will work in both my car truck and even my snowmobile, they come with either low beam or low and high.

    After watched this video, I was very impressed with the "fan-less", "all-in-one unit" feature and the White color LED light spectrum, I went ahead and purchased 2-sets (H11 for low beam and 9005 for high beam/DRL). Unfortunately, the amount of light these bulbs can project are"shorter" than of my OEM halogen bulbs. I was very disappointed and feel these bulbs should only qualify for fog lights (not headlight). BTW, the heatsink does get hot to touch after ~15-minutes of operation, so wait awhile before handling it ... One more comment about reviewing headlights, don't look at the headlights head-on or looking at the light pattern on a wall, but go outside and actually drive around with them to see how far/wide the light beam can actually project (also to determine if too much glare that calls for readjusting the headlight aim).

    Without that weather seal in place behind the bulb housing, isn't there a higher risk of contaminants getting to headlight compartment or condensation? Or is there some kind of other seal with the new led bulb housing that prevents this?

      Again, sorry Jim. But I’ve seen accidents first hand that were the result of HIDs and LEDs installed in non projector housings. It’s too bright “locally,” and gets “thinner” distribution unless properly housed, collected and scattered through a semi spherical lens, aka, projector housing.

    This CRV generation has a DRL function that strobes the stock bulbs at a low voltage, which would cause the LED bulbs to flicker/strobe. Did you see the flicker with this kit?

    I would like brighter lights for my 05 Envoy, but I am concerned about the low voltage that runs the DRL affecting these bulbs. I am 76 yrs old and my vision isn't what it once was. I have trouble driving against bright lights at night. Sometimes I know drivers have their brights on but there are too many of them for that to be the only problem. Some of the newer cars have bright headlights that are almost blinding. Bright lights are nice to have when they are on your car and help you see better, but they are tough to drive against if you have a problem with glare. I avoid driving at night as much as possible, but I can't avoid it all the time.

      You may be right. I see just fine in the daylight and I limit my night time driving to short distances on roads I am familiar with. However, I have mentioned this to other friends and family and some of them also think the bright lights are hard to drive against. It is undoubtedly my poor eyesight that is contributing to this problem, but I still think some of the lights are too bright. Thank you for your comment.

    Mine came in a hideous shade of bright gold, I wish they would have been black. I used the 9005 and 9006 in my 98 s10, and with proper aiming I don't get high beamed for blinding othe drivers. They are best in projector housings, but some standard reflector housing can be acceptable with proper aiming. Be wary of your headlight design before spending the money on these bulbs, as they start at $60 per pair. It would suck to have to pull them out after getting a ticket or 2 for spilling too much light at other drivers.

    I wouldn't ever put in a bulb into a housing for which the housing is not designed. A filament in a regular bulb forms a curve, and ever projector and reflector is meant to focus along that whole arc. In an HID, those systems are designed to focus along the whole arc. These LEDs are just a flat circle of light. Nothing is designed for these slap-in bulbs, and especially reflector housings will cause blinding glare to oncoming drivers, not to mention the pattern emitted will not be what it's supposed to be. There are a few sealed-beam LED conversions which I bet blast things like this out of the water. People also get these conversions for the high color temperature, because it looks brighter when they stand outside and look at it. When driving in the real world, with things like weather, systems like this are a mistake.

    dear jimthecarguy, please also let people know that these kind of modifications are illegal in most countries. the reason is the following: when light beam comes out from the halogen bulb it gets reflected by a reflector housing headlight which was designed for halogen type bulbs. when you put a no matter what made led to a housing which was designed for especially halogen bulbs, that reflector housing will not reflect the light as the engineers designed it with proper equipment for halogen bulbs and the light coming out will go strait into other people eyes which could cause accidents because of the temporal blindness caused by a not properly reflected light coming from led bulb. in short, this is dangerous. you have a lot of subscribers, you have responsibility. please do say that it is not recommended at all.

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  8 років тому

      Thank you for your input.This is an e mail that I received from the company Auxbeam regarding your concern.
      I probably wouldn't agree what the guy said. What he brought up is not only the issue of a LED bulbs
      but all the non-original bulbs. When two cars meet, both cars need to turn on low beam so as to avoid
      car accident. Some of the cheap knock offs (not only LED but also HID halogen ) could be dangerous because they either use really bright color
      or the beams don't have a curve like this:
      内嵌图片 1
      You might want to test out the bulbs you received from Auxbeam to see if they have this angle or not.
      This is to protect driver from being blinded when two cars meet.
      We also have the films go with the headlight bulbs to adjust the color just to meet different meets.
      Besides, there's no rule against replacing halogen bulbs use LED bulbs in the US so far,
      but in some European countries might have such rule. They can't purchase these lights from our Amazon store,
      since we can't have them shipped from USA Amazon to other countries except the US.

      Yvw. Btw, when you put that black locking plate in...it looked like it was going in around the wrong way. If you turn it so the indented side faces the rear of the housing, I think the light may end up more focused and a little brighter, since the reflector will be picking up more of the light - and possibly the rubber weather boot would fit as the light will be sitting a little deeper into the light housing. Just a thought. And thanks for the great vids - keep 'em coming! ☺

    As bright seems in headlight so bad they work in diving conditions. the led is a technology in babysteps yet, need a lot of time. every new car sells just for the image, marketing.when you drive in highways you wanna stop and put back the halogen bulbs. the light is pure after some meter and make problems to eyes. you need to focus. you don't wanna know when rains or there's fog outside. don't waste money or if you wanna something better install hid 5000k max. not 6000k.

They're great to blind others with, but you yourself as the driver, have next to no light on the ground. In fact look how well the wall is lit up on the left and hardly on the right. Most of the popular brands (including AUXBEAM) use a color temp around 6000K or 6500K - while they aren't as "warm" as the typical halogen lamps they're not like the "for off road use only - non-DOT - HIDs of years past. Many manufacturers including AUXBEAM make "warmer" temperature LED bulbs. As always people should be respectful with their mods.
