people should just put them up for adoption though
ᴋʜᴏʟɪᴏ but giving your child a life is better than just killing it in my opinion
Leah Robinson 🙄 it’s a clump of cells when it’s aborted it’s not even human yet. Plus she doesn’t have the money to do that (I’m on about Meave in the video, her options are limited) you can’t just put up for adoption like that it’s not that simple. And it’s the being pregnant which is hard at that age to handle. She has no money she would be tired all the time has to deal with everything on her own, can’t really study when pregnant, needs to go to school. Etc etc !!!
aexoticc not all people who get abortions are that young though
Leah Robinson I’ve already responded to you twice in this comment section but I’ll reiterate it again. Unwanted pregnancy and childbirth are traumatic. If you ever go through that (and I hope that you don’t because no one deserves to) I bet you’ll at least see why people get abortions.
"i have three kids and i feel way more guilty for the ones that i had than the one that i chose not to." this speaks a lot on the big issue on abortion
Yoi just focus on yourself
@SOptimus Neo in your opinion🤷🏻♀️
I don’t think it’s right how people are commenting saying abortion is wrong because it’s complex up to the woman and she is the one that is carrying the baby not anyone else , it should be her choice and only hers not some random person who doesn’t have a clue what she is going to have to go through😣. Just my opinion

@@analizandoybailandoconmarc4611 I don't think that's the idea of the scene. He waited for her because she's going through a hard time. women usually are criticized for doing this and otis isn't doing that, he's supporting her decision.
@SOptimus Neo geez why so much anger calm yourself down. Besides, there is NOTHING wrong with abortion as a decision made very consciously.

SOptimus Neo I’ve seen you reply on a number on comments now and it’s obvious what your position is on abortions. I don’t know if anyone has replied to you with this question, so I’m going to ask you: if you did or do have a sister that made a mistake with someone, and fell pregnant as a result, and she confided in you that she wanted an abortion due to the inability to raise that child to the best of her abilities, what would you say? Would your supposed moral standpoint tell her it’s wrong, or would you support your sister?
4:58 "you waited" was such a beautiful moment....Otis was there for her, waited even though earlier on she told him to go. I think this was the moment Maeve started to like Otis, not forgetting the hug they had at the end of the episode

Yeah that was rude af
i mean she had already gone more times so she deserves it, it is ok to abort one time but to abort repetedly just because you dont want to wear a condom?
@@daniellr8509 you know that condoms do break from time to time, right? There is always a chance of unplanned pregnancy everytime you have sex, even with protection. It takes two to make it happen, so stop blaming women for accidental pregnancy.
And the woman in the scene had 3 children to support at that moment, so she chose abortion in order to take the best care for those that she already had. She was setting her priorities straight.
@@tessielee21id thats not the point, of course accident happens and thats why is totally understandable to abort one or two times at the very much, but more of 2 times???Either you are the the unluckiest person in earth with condoms or you just dont care at all and prefer to fuck without a condom just to abort some months later...Whit this said I understand your point, but the thing is not to abort cause you had an accident, the thing is if you arent careful and you dont care at all about aborting...
@@daniellr8509 the woman in this scene has at least 1 pretty mature child, which means her abortions could have taken places over the course of years. It's very unlikely for a woman to be able to have sex until at least a month or two after an abortion because she will constantly bleed. But the most important thing is that woman chose what she thought would be best for her living and aborted children. No loving mother wants their children to be borned into hardship.
Unplanned pregnancy indeed happens more frequently than you think. I personally know people (not one person) who have unplanned pregnancy even when they use multiple methods of protection. One of them have several unplanned pregnancies and miscarriages so it definitely can happen more than 1 or 2 times. The point here is not every woman has the same privileges and a good system of support to have a new baby, so unless you are the father and willing to give the best care for them both, you can't decide what is the best decision for them.
that is the best representation of abortion for young girls on tv i’ve seen so far; better than what 13rw and euphoria did.
Euphoria did it better, in a more artistic way
Nah, euphoria and sex education did it the best
@@station_77 artistic way, yeah, but its not comforting at all; euphoria is great at making you feel bad tho and sex education makes you feel good. and real.
i e t i s but it’s not really comforting in real life. It’s rather traumatic
MadMady but you should tell young girls that it’s ok to make this decision, you’re not evil or a terrible human being if you decide to do an abortion and keep on living your life, because maybe you’re not ready to have a baby yet, maybe you wanna live for yourself first and that’s ok. yes, abortion should be sad but representing it on tv has to show the good side of the process, not the traumatic and disturbing ones.
honestly i miss the times when the only teen drama we’d get were the disney channel things. now everything’s so dark, depressing, and sex education seems to be the only one rn which is so light and not making you slip into that dark place (as euphoria and 13rw does)
The depth of the woman's character was just mind blowing. Even though her screen space is so little she still showed so many layers within her. Like how she she tried to make the both girls laugh in such a painful situation. And how it reflected on her own experience before.
I adored this episode because of her. Making people smile in painful circumstances is a great gift.
I hoped we could have seen more of her in the show. I like how it shows that even though she was getting an abortion, she was still a loving and supportive mother figure. First because of how her daughter was supporting her and second because of how she made two young girls a bit less afraid of this difficult situation.
I loved that even though she showed she was used to the process, it was still too emotional for her and she cried. Kinda great representation of the whole situation to show both the good will behind it, and the struggle it still creates.
Character?
Yes, she was a character, not real, it's called acting, with emotional music in the background.
Why do you like being scammed so much?
@@malachi- What an unhinged comment lol
I think pregnancy is a beautiful thing and that bringing someone into the world is something any woman should be proud of. But at the same time if you're not ready then you're not. That doesn't mean that she can never have a baby or that she's killing her child. It just means that she knows that she's not ready to raise a child and doesn't want to bring it into the world and then abandon it. It's a actually an incredibly mature thing for a teenager to do.

@SOptimus Neo funny, because people having unwanted kids is the mais cause of the thing you're mentioning. I live in a country where abortion is ilegal, and I know what I'm talking about.
@SOptimus Neo What if the child's life is at stake?? There are a lot of women who get pregnant and have to do an abortion because they don't have the money to mantain a child. Having a child is something you need to be prepared for, and a lot of women who get pregnant on accident are NOT prepared for it.
Please just think about them, they go through a really hard time making this decision and it's not their fault. A lot of them just didn't have the proper education to know better or maybe they were sexually assaulted, you never know what could've happened to them so please have some empathy.

Remember a scene in season 2 when the girls were trying to find something they had in common and one of them said “There must be something we all like! Chocolate?” And Maeve said No. And then here at 3:25 she says she doesn’t like it so the lady gets the mousse! Cute little link. X
Becca Ruth I noticed that too!
I understand why she said she didn't like chocolate so she could give her the mousse but I don't understand why she continued to insist she didn't like it even though when her brother makes her pancakes she says she wants chocolate chips on them. Thought that was a little weird. It was probably so the girls could find some actual common ground that was deeper than chocolate but the incontinuity annoyed me lmao
I can't believe that Sex Ed managed to pull this off
“We think there will be a chocolate one next time you’re here” that was such a cold and disrespectful line
I like how Netflix is opening to abortion because it gives mothers another choice. It's their body, and they're the one carrying the baby so let them decide
asmr maskoo EXACTLY TY

The short haired woman is someone I wish I had in my life
Me too
After watching all 4 seasons, I realized that Maeve and older woman’s conversation here was showing the core of Maeve and her mother’s relationship.
This show is so awesome! It's very funny and smart but it shows us so much more what people are afraid to talk about. It shows us so many different perspectives and how it is possible to respect everyone's boundaries and story. So beautiful
I know I am commenting really late but it is my cousin on the right in this scene 00:32 or around that time. I am so proud of her
Omg she's great
This is like one of the things that easily makes me cry, both the beginning and after when the woman starts crying.
As a woman living in post-Roe v Wade America, where every other story on the news now is a woman dying due to being denied an abortion when she had a known medical complication, or children being raped and their lives and futures being destroyed because they couldn't get an abortion, this made me sob. I had to pause it and leave to recover.
I can't believe it's 2023 and women still are not allowed sanctity of their bodies. The other day I read a story on the news about a woman's cancer returning mid-pregnancy and she was denied cancer-treatment because she was pregnant and then also denied an abortion. She was able to flee to another country to get an abortion but her state was really going to let her simply die to cancer in the hopes she MIGHT live long enough to give birth. She's now being sued for fleeing to get a life-saving abortion. It's utterly sickening.
Not your body
Leftist brain rot.
"Post roe V Wade" as if it's an apocalypse 😂
Abortion is legal, and nothing is stopping you from getting one but go ahead and desperately hold onto your missing context fringe cases to use as proof that women do not have choices in this day in age. You're a handmaiden, how sad for you
oh lord, I was about to get an abortion but had a miscarriage a day before. it was so painful mentally, emotionally and physically.
I’m so sorry about your miscarriage ❤️ best of wishes to you and I’m wishing you the best
@@Young4eva121 thank you :)
I like how maeve has an external shell that is her protective layer but inside she is actually quite soft
I love that this was light hearted show but they still managed to pull off these hard, controversial sad scenes perfectly as well
Otis getting her a sandwhich and flowers is so funny lol
The thing that makes me shudder is the fact that pro-birth people only see women as incubators with no right to bodily autonomy
I imagine the procedure has changed in the 25 years since I had one. I’ve read a lot of comments about how realistic it was and I’m watching this thinking, no it isn’t. But then I remembered how long ago mine was. Married mom of 2 little ones, birth control failure. I cried the entire time. From the moment I walked in the clinic til way after I left. There was no I.v. There definitely was no anesthesia. I was awake the whole time. Incredibly painful. I remember every bit of it. I am pro choice and I don’t regret it. I knew that we could not handle 3 children under 5.
You are so so strong for that. I can't imagine how difficult that must have been. You made the best choice for everyone.
@@Stella-ke7xb thank you for saying that.
You are strong always remember that. You are NOT a murderer.
@@kaylakuhl9340 thank you.
@@kaylakuhl9340 She murdered her baby because it was an inconvenience.
This makes me think of a story I read once. An 11 year old girl was brutally raped and got pregnant, but because her family disagreed on abortion she was forced to have the child. She ended up killing herself 10 months later. It was really heartbreaking to read
I am so upset now. That poor girl should have had the abortion
They imprisoned her for life in that rape moment,, she decided to leave life.
It's better not being a mother too young than being an awful mother too young
I love this representation of abortion so much, she is grateful that she had the choice and she’s satisfied by doing it but that doesn’t mean the process isn’t hard
Exactly!
This scene is one of most powerful & sincere scenes ever in any series.
I’m glad Netflix finally got it right
Cory Mackenzie-Gray 13rw right ?
This was SO DAMN powerful. It felt real and I wish the writers revisited this topic with a conversation between Maeve and her mum or even Maeve & Jackson.
Yeah same I always wanted to see how Jackson would have felt and reacted to it
This clip randomly showed up in my feed and since then I’ve binged the whole show twice
My mom almost had an abortion when she was pregnant with me. I wasn't mad or sad when she told me this. I understood that both my parents were not emotionally able to take care of a kid. My dad left and started a new family, who he also wasn't the greatest father too. My mom did her best, and i love her for that, but she did emotionally abuse me when i was in high school because she was going through a hard time mentally. Now, i have mental issues because of the abuse and genetics. I was in forster care for a short time, and i would not wish that on anyone. People who are saying just put them up for adoption dont realize who bad the system is and the abuse you go through. And i lot of kids dont get adopted. i know a lot of them are homeless, are on drugs , or have ended their lives because they dont feel like they belong anywhere. Of course, there are people who have been adopted into wonderful families and live a great life, but sadly that doesn't happen as much as we all hope.
This scene feels so real and so raw. Also the song choice is really good.
I have 3 beautiful children. I love my life, NOW. It took a couple of decades to get to an ok place in life and I'm confident in saying that I wish I was aborted. All the years of being abused, being passed from home to home in the care system, the crippling depression, self esteem issues, anxiety and disorders I have because I was born in a family that were ill equipped to raise a child just isn't worth it. A fetus doesn't know it's being aborted, but I knew everything that happened to me as a child.
This is incredibly powerful…and I know the world is better for you being in it.
0:41 the way that scene is recorded is so overwhelming for me
i’m so glad to not see any (or at least not many) negative comments on this. it’s really nice
This storyline was so great. I loved it.
However
it was not great what Sarah did. Maeve handed over her chocolate mousse and I was waiting for Sarah to give Maeve the vanilla and she didn't. That is not good etiquette. 😠
Lol calm down 😂
Wtf😂😂😂
Same!!! I thought they were going to trade the desserts, but no!!! She ate all of them !!!
@@alexandraseminario Well according to Miss Sarah, vanilla isn't even a flavor. She probably just left it there for the staff to clean up.
watching this after roe v. wade was overturned is so fucking hard. imagine another timeline, where maeve couldn't get that abortion. imagine what her life would look like. oh my fucking god...
yeah imagine if her baby was not actually dead and got to experience life ikr
@@anthonia7930 It's not a baby it's an embryo. It's all about choice, it's your choice not to have one but I still want that choice. It is such a complex issue. I would not want to bring a baby into a financially unstable home that isn't mature enough or set up to give that baby the best possible life. If I was a teenager in this situation then I would make the same decision as Maeve. I think she is so brave and strong to do something so scary. You may not support her or others in this situation, but at least allow people to make a personal choice that is best for them and the potential baby. It my body and my personal choice.
Have some compassion for others and be proud that they are brave, braver than you and me.
Thank god it was overturned
it's neither brave nor a better choice to kill a baby rather than raise him/her in the x circumstances. You can believe whatever
@@anthonia7930 it’s all about choice. Allowing others the freedom to make the choice that is best for them. It is a choice no one wants to make but we all should have the option at least.
This is the episode that really hooked me into this show
Is it season 1 or 2.. Which episode is this..??
More than a year after seing this scene for the first time, I just watched S1 and S2 again, but this "You waited" quote is still very touching and so well played 😧
This scene was done so well
Who's here after they made abortion illegal in United States? I'm crying
i was rewatching it and i cried seeing this scene.
love from croatia💔
I think all Mothers are pro-life, even if it's denied or deep down. Abortions or not. Maeve's combination of regret and circumstances plays both sides perfectly.
@@timanderson6005 you said that so perfectly
@@timanderson6005 not all, some of them have abortions too, besides being pro choice also means you allow others to have that choice even if you wouldn't do it
@@aaa5126 it's difficult to express such a complex thought properly so forgive me if I mispoke, but I totally agree. Pro choice does not exclude.
The amount of hate comments against abortion is disheartning. A fetus is not actually alive until like 2.5 months or smth. I bet these ppl don't understand what a struggle it is to go through nine months of pregnancy or giving up your life for raising a fricking human being at such a young age. Also, are rape victims evil too if they were to have an abortion? How about if you know the fetus inside is not alive anymore. You still has to go through that painful process of pregnancy?!
AND THAT'S WHY MOTIS IS MEANT TO BE I'M LITERALLY CRYING
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Him waiting for her like that
people that don’t support abortion probably hate maeve because of this
Not exactly, I dont like abortions, I woldnt do it, but I dont think that you can jugde somebody for doing it you dont know her live, and if my best friend had an abortion I would support her even if I dont aprove her decision
I'm extremely pro-life and am against abortion in nearly every single case, but no, I don't hate her for this. Nor would I hate anyone who has had an abortion. I hate the act of abortion and the killing of innocent life, but I don't hate the women that have felt like they had no other options and I'm incredibly sorry for any women that has felt they needed to go through with an abortion. Things like this make me only want to try harder to help women and offer them more support and encourage them to keep the baby :)
@@amyj3692 if you don't like abortion don't get one, someone else's pregnancy/health is none of your business. stop sticking your nose in.
@@amyj3692 so you would encourage an 11 year old to keep her rap1st's baby? when she'd likely die in childbirth? doesn't sound very pro-life to me.
isobel equestrian I don’t know about your country but in my country we have rules to allow abortions on people who’ve been raped and got pregnant. They could end it because the cause for that wasn’t consensual. I’m pro life too and I don’t hate Maeve’s character, I think she’s very amazing, even this scene got me to tears. But I still think you should take responsibility for something that you did, sex. When you have sex you should be aware of what it could create, a baby. Even if you’re wearing contraception and it fails, you should still take responsibility for it. Maybe they weren’t alive or their heart hasn’t beat yet, but you’re still ending someone’s chance to live. Sure, it’s the mother’s body, but someone already has their human rights ever since they were in their mother’s womb. And one of every human’s basic right is to be able to live.
Maeve: You waited
Otis: Of course
This is wholesome❤

I have read a few (luckily they were a few, I was going to be mad if the comment section was full of negative comments against Maeve and Sarah) comments saying that Maeve did this because it is the easy thing to do, the comfortable thing, rather than having the baby; and some other comments blaming Sarah for being a bad mother. And honestly, the only thing that crosses my mind is, have you actually watched the show? Because what I got from this scene(s) was not Sarah and Maeve exactly having a blast after aborting. They were exhausted, really fucking sad (idk how to put that feeling into words), the show did a great job portraying what you might feel after aborting, and from my point of view, they were not "comfortable and easy" .
So, if you are here saying that, and you haven't watched the show, go watch it and then come back. And if you have watched it and you are saying that, then maybe learn to have some empathy.

Is this actually, authentically what abortion clinics and procedures are like in the UK? I was a volunteer and intern at Planned Parenthood in the US for 2 years and it was extremely different. It isn't like a surgical facility. The patient doesn't wear a hospital gown (you keep your regular clothes on and just take off your pants and underwear for the procedure and put them back on when it's over), they don't put you under, there aren't any beds, it doesn't look like a hospital, medical staff wears scrubs, not little dresses (do any nurses still wear dresses now?) and the environment is a lot more relaxed and less clinical looking. Also, protesters are not able to approach the clinic itself, which is absolutely as it should be. They should never be able to approach you personally or invade your space and should never be anywhere near the doors where they are a danger to people.
You are evil. Why do you murder children?
