How did Tim Curry not have a more successful singing career? When I think of what passes for celebrity talent today, I'm so sad. I love him as an actor, but I would buy every album he released.
A friend took me to see the Rocky Horror show in Hammersmith in 1972, I think. I had no idea what to expect. We were seated watching the stage when this booming voice rips out Sweet Transvestite from behind us. Then he whips off his Cape and exposes the suspenders and fishnet stockings and struts down the aisle towards the stage passing me by about two feet. I was never the same person after that.
I really wish people would appreciate Tim Curry for all his many contributions to the entertainment industry, instead of always focusing on Rocky Horror. The man is so much more than that.
I'm moreso on Clue, Muppet Treasure Island, and Fern Gully My DND mom tuned me onto his recordings after I brought up how much of a seductive jam Toxic Love is for a demon. Next thing I know, I'm singing I Do The Rock
I love this man... his talent is freaking awesome. I know he is almost 70 years old, but I don't care, I'm almost ... well not older then him. His voice is so freaking orgasmic.
I have this album, and Tim's version of I Put A Spell On You, is my all time favorite. He sings it like he REALLY means it. Listening to this brought back a lot of memories. This first time I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show, it was late in 1975. There were only 6 people in the audience, myself and 5 friends. I can clearly remember, as we were leaving the theater enthusing about the film, saying "Someone needs to sign that man (Tim) to a recording contract pronto." In 1978 and 1979, when Tim was on tour around the US singing at various clubs, I was determined to see him perform live. I'm happy to say I saw him 3 times, all in Ohio. First at the Agora in Youngstown, then the Agora in Cleveland, summer of 1978. Last, at Bogart's in Cincinnati on October 20th 1979 (my 20th birthday). At that date, I got to meet him, very briefly, after the show before he boarded his tour bus. He was very nice, and absolutely, to die for, gorgeous! I can still see his smile.
you lucky duck! i too was quite enamoured of our delightful mr curry and bought all 3 of his albums and learned them by heart on cold lonely upstate ny winters...i alas was too dumb and in a drug induced haze to go see him in concerts and on the nyc club circuit just 6 mere hours away from me by auto....one of the biggest regrets of my life..what awesome memories you have...good for you..love.....
+Pagan Poptart I'm pretty sure I must have been at that same show at Bogart's! That's where I saw him, at around the same time. I was writing music reviews/interviews for my college paper, so I got to do an interview with him. Moved to NYC a year later, and a few years after that I got to see him on Broadway in "Amadeus." Those *are* great memories!
+Pagan Poptart my absolute fantasy man! in so many ways...voice, sex appeal galore, brains, balls! oh yum! in the infamous words of morrissey...please, please please, let me let me let me...get what i want this time...
Tim Curry in my opinion is the best male singer ever, he sings R&B so fine it almost hurts the heart...Sloe Gin, SOS, Anyone whoo had a heart, Something short of Paradise....All of them, I wish like hell he would have been just a singer, I believe he would have been so famous..His voice is ethereal
Everybody with a clue loves Tim Curry. Mom is only trying to say, "Don't lose your sense of self." The most appealing attribute about him is Tim Curry loves himself as evidenced by his confidence. Is it easier for men to do this? Perhaps. Many of us pretty much like ourselves but where is our self confidence? I left mine back in the hospital newborn nursery. We love his confidence in everything he tries and completes. Can-do attitude.
He really did not get the exposure he needed ! His talent was huge and diverse ! One of my all time favorite singers ! Tim really makes me feel emotional when he sings.
OMG, this man ALWAYS puts a spell on me. He is one of a kind and there'll be no one else like him. ❤😘😍 His voice is like angels and silk combined and I'm so madly in love.
Oh, the good old times - when, to become famous, you had to have outstanding talent, the kind Tim Curry has, and not only a pretty face, a sexy body or the right pedigree. I wish for his successful and quick recovery.
Sarah Gregory Considering what really happened I like to think that he would have preferred a heart attack. He had a major stroke. Like... MAJOR major. If you look at pictures of him now, he's not even half the man he used to be. It's so sad for him! :-(
that s exactly what i m doing right now..long day..exhausted but can t go to bed until i embed that voice into my brain.....does anyone find this a strange phenomenon? why tim curry...well thousands of tiny little reasons and some medium and big ones too....
Tim, why so long before you looked straight on into the camera? Don't make me wait, you are exquisitely gifted. Don't doubt it, ever. Never let anyone's superficial judgement stand in your way. Your lifestyle, clothes, whatever, are your choice, and to be respected along with the rest of you. I personally love it, that you are who you are. I'm not saying this only to you, but to others who will not look past what they are prejudiced against. Screw them, oops sorry. Always be free to be yourself. I want you to sing where we can see you actually singing while you are looking at us. Bravo, and much love to you, beautiful boy.
must. take . a . cold. shower .now Theres something about Tim's version that just makes that tune rock! his voice is amazing, makes you shiver and blow your mind away...well I may got a bit carried away, I dont care, im under a spell ;-)
As a general rule I'm not overly impressed with cover versions of songs, but I love this. Kudos to Tim Curry for taking this song in a completely different direction, with brilliant results. Attempting to mimic Screamin' Jay Hawkins would undoubtedly have been an unmitigated disaster, whereas this is great stuff.
After hearing Diamanda Galas version (which is awesome) this is like a soothing balm to the senses. I love them both, but they are miles apart. Tim Currys voice is just so....like slipping into the back of a deep red velvet plush sofa.
I saw Mr. Curry in many films, but still when i'm listening to his songs i'm imagine him as Frank'n'Furter.. Never mind, his is such a talented singer. Thanks
I have multiple covers of this song on my phone what’s one more god he sounds incredible and anyone turned on by his voice you are not weird his voice is damn sexy
I am laughed at with eyes rolling every time I mention Tim Curry. I've been infatuated with the man for a long, long time. Don't change for the people around you. I'm 29 and he is 67 and I still think there is a chance :)
I LUV Tim Curry's voice. He could sing anything and it just comes out sexy af. Also when he played the horned creature Darkness in the movie Legend, every time he talked he sounded sexy and sultry G-d bless this guy. sadly he is now confined to a wheelchair from a stroke he had a few years ago :( :(
God....How I wish I would have been born in '56 instead of '76! I love this man, and he WOULD have been MINE! LoL.....2:50 is KILLER! Looks like temptation and a HALF!
Everything this man sings is just out of this world! I bought his albums after seeing RHPS (and then-new songs by him and Meatloaf featured before the film)...and now (years later) I'm having the delectable experience of re-discovering his incomparable voice for myself. It's both annoying and perplexing to think that his music career didn't catch on in a big way. Thanks to the internet, many can either re-discover him...or have the ultimate treat of being "spellbound" by him for the first time!
Always Liked This Album. Picked It Up In Germany About 1981 Or So. Had No Idea About Frankenfurter. Wish I Could Get It On ITunes. Tim Curry Has Done Some Real Great Acting Work
Ok, today I drew Nigel Thornberry as Winifred Sanderson and I thought how amazing it would be to have Tim singing this song... This is the best cover of the song I've ever heard.
YUP! The man can do it all... I've been an instant fan for a long long time. Tim is the Ultimate actor's actor! Actor, voice-over actor, singer, musician/singer/ check out videos for Ken wahl's series Wiseguy. There is an entire arc of episodes with TC costarring Deborah Harry, Paul winfield, Deidra Hall and Glen Frey (of Eagles fame) deals with episodes about Dead dog Records.
Aw that's actually well cute! I keep showing my mum everything of him on UA-cam just about or won't stop talking about him, and she's like "don't get obsessed!" I already am, seriously who couldn't love this man?! ;)

So lucky 😍💕
His voice sounds like what rolling on silk feels like, too perfect.
Oh my god that is exactly what he sounds like...
so very true!!!!!
Best version of this song hands down
He's like the king of bad guys that sing!
jade-louise dobson STOP it!!! You're going to make me sick!
If Tim Curry's voice grew its own body, it would be the sexiest being alive.
Have you seen him? It already did and it is.
So it would be Tim Curry himself
Haha, I suppose you have a different type but I gotta agree with the rest of these people. Tim Curry is the man.
He pretty much was... ;)
i mean he was
I really wish people would appreciate Tim Curry for all his many contributions to the entertainment industry, instead of always focusing on Rocky Horror. The man is so much more than that.
We do, but some of us were introduced to him by that movie. I absolutely love everything he has done and still does. He is an amazing man❣️
I'm moreso on Clue, Muppet Treasure Island, and Fern Gully

wilma montefusco YES, HE CAN BRING SEXUALITY ONLY WITH HIS VOICE!!!
wilma montefusco YES
I bet Tim Curry would make a marvelous lover.
Emma Hochhalter please don't get us imagining that. we wish but sadly there is one and only Tim 😭
+m w that's so saddd
A hell of a lover

omg what a precious memory!!
I think Tim Curry has "PUT A SPELL ON ME" 😱His voice is just amazing!!!
Best one who ever did this song
best version of "i put a spell on you" in my opinion
there so many best versions
this is a brilliant version no doubt, his voice is so silky and relaxing, but Meryl Streeps version from Hocus Pocus is so much more fun.
Andy Davies Bette Midler not Meryl streep
It's cool, without doubts...but i like mainly the original by Screaming Jay Hawkins, and the versions played by CCR and Arthur Brown
Deep and emotionally executed
Tim Curry in my opinion is the best male singer ever, he sings R&B so fine it almost hurts the heart...Sloe Gin, SOS, Anyone whoo had a heart, Something short of Paradise....All of them, I wish like hell he would have been just a singer, I believe he would have been so famous..His voice is ethereal

His voice is so magical, along with his looks of course 😉😘✨️
I’m a lesbian but Tim Curry is just something else
Ugh, his voice just does things to me.
Mm... Yeah...
Oh uhm hi there. ^//^
Hello my dear, (kisses hand)
(pulls hand slowly back) Well..how are you?
Dr. Frank-N-Furter Hey.................
I want you and Columbia.
This the most amazing voice I’ve ever heard. There’s just something about him. I can’t put my finger on it- but he is absolutely phenomenal.
Tim is a man of soooo many talents
He really did not get the exposure he needed ! His talent was huge and diverse ! One of my all time favorite singers ! Tim really makes me feel emotional when he sings.

OMG, this man ALWAYS puts a spell on me. He is one of a kind and there'll be no one else like him. ❤😘😍 His voice is like angels and silk combined and I'm so madly in love.
So in love with that man.
his voice is so memorizing. I cannot get enough of him. :)
I think the word you're looking for is "mesmerizing"...
yes, sorry, I usually read over things when I write them.
I don't know I think memorizing works
I love his version so much, the man has a phenomenal voice.
There is just something about his voice, it's strange. I believe I'm in love.
Oh, the good old times - when, to become famous, you had to have outstanding talent, the kind Tim Curry has, and not only a pretty face, a sexy body or the right pedigree. I wish for his successful and quick recovery.
+Teutonics didn't he have a heart attack or something?
Sarah Gregory
Considering what really happened I like to think that he would have preferred a heart attack. He had a major stroke. Like... MAJOR major. If you look at pictures of him now, he's not even half the man he used to be. It's so sad for him! :-(
+Teutonics i agree.i hope he recovers.
+Teutonics Woua woua woua ! I didn't know at all and just watched, he's a vegetable now :( Bouh ! It's painful to watch :(
+Cricriiii I thought he was in a wheel chair and able to talk
Listened to this on repeat for like half an hour, I'm in love.
that s exactly what i m doing right now..long day..exhausted but can t go to bed until i embed that voice into my brain.....does anyone find this a strange phenomenon? why tim curry...well thousands of tiny little reasons and some medium and big ones too....
I can't stop picturing this being sung by Nigel Thornberry and in some weird way... that makes it almost more magical.

Must be how he wooed Marianne
Oh my god Daddy Nigel 😂

Got to love the ole time crackles of turntable sounds. Takes me back.
Not a dry seat in the house.
Konig Corvus hahaha, very nice reference!
I can't think of a better person to cover this song.

A chance of... what? You getting with him? How about now?
His voice is like velvet.
wow, such an amazing actor and now after listening to this. A dude who had a real talent for singing. The guy is a legend.
Would it be inappropriate to say that this man is one delicious Brit? No? Great! :)
even if it is deemed inappropriate by some it is still worth saying.....
this... this is pure eargasm :'D
His voice is perfect so relaxing 😘😍
Tim Curry is FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!
Tim Curry is the best

Oh, wow, Tim Curry is so amazing. Ooh, he gives me goosebumps.
Ooff!! AMAZING cover!!
This gripping version of "I Put A Spell On You" is a relatively unknown MASTERPEICE.
EVERYONE'S SO YOUNG ON HERE! I've loved Tim Curry since I was a little baby, all because of Rocky Horror. This makes me happy that I'm not alone. :D

NOW WHO'S WITH ME
Wow, this is the first thing I've heard him sing other than in Rocky Horror..I have chills...
Omg, the first line gave me chills!
He was a magnificent singer , actor and I wish Tim burton had collaborated with him for movies ❤
Wow! This is way under-rated for the quality of work behind it.
The ONE and ONLY sexy Tim Curry!!! 😍
Damn straight. He drips with sex appeal.
Damn, this version is so incredible
If somebody sang to me like that, I would be their's fairly quickley.
Tim, your put a spell on me. LOVE you.

Why am I just now finding this? 😍😍😍
you put a spell on me!. Es una pena que no continuara con su carrera de cantante, es simplemente extraordinario. No puedo dejar de escucharlo.
I swear if Tim Curry would be good at ASMR if it was a thing back then
his voice is like the smoothest finest silk wrapped on your bare skin!!!!!! so seductive and wonderful!!!
Woow, Yes it is!
It is the best description I have read about his voice.
Evil sinister monster! He must be stopped!!
sadly it means "Kill Your Self"
Yes Tim, I am yours.
Dear god. x.x
Aw that's actually well cute! I keep showing my mum everything of him on UA-cam just about or won't stop talking about him, and she's like "don't get obsessed!" I already am, seriously who couldn't love this man?! ;)
Man, this and the original version, I can’t pick which is my favorite!

he had a spell on me for 40 years
Simplemente... perfecto!!!
Awesome song from an Awesome man.
Why is this not on Spotify?
Doesn't just the sheer sound of his voice, even saying one word, make you want to have his babies? ;)
i could have sworn i was wearing clothes before I watched this
LOVE this song and the photos here.
This man's voice should either be illegal, or classified as an aphrodisiac.
He can put a spell on me anytime 💕
Holy crap, this is amazing
Tim’s voice just got me pregnant.. and I’m a dude... :/
Ahh I am so under his spell!!!!!!! Im lonly 13 and I am totally and irrevocably under Tim Curry's amazing spell!
Uma das melhores versões que já ouvi. Bom de mais.
So hard to find...I've got this on vinyl and sadly, have no record player to listen on. :(
So glad you posted this! Thanks!!!
