- Join me as I take my 1971 Triumph Vitesse Mark 2 to test the B1066 through some of the most beautiful Suffolk countryside as we explore the enchanting villages of Hawkedon and Hartest with some fast undulating bends through the Glem valley.
What a beautiful motor! My mat had a Herald 13/60 about 20 years ago. It still stands as the nicest car i have driven to date!
Thank you Jim🙏
Just what I needed on a dark evening. A bright winter ride in Bess. I agree about the views during winter. I'm really liking the various camera views. You're giving Jay Leno's Garage a run for his money!
That really is kind Ian. I be may just about 150 cars short of giving Jay a run for anything, but I am so glad that it sounds like you enjoy him as much as I do 😀
@@seanhumfrey That may be so, Sean, but your scenery beats his hands down. And yes, I enjoy his channel very much, too.
As regards that matter of my Suffolk relatives working in service in Suffolk, I haven't heard anything more from Paul. I have just emailed him a gentle reminder!
It was in 1801, during the Battle of Copenhagen, and gave rise to the saying, "turning a blind eye" (I was born in the Nelson Hospital, and went to Rutlish High School, both built on the site of Nelson's Surrey Estate).
Thank you Leon. I knew someone would know the correct answer 👏
What a great little car so love the mk11 Vites
Thank you 🙏
Nicely presented video
Thanks so much Leon.
Great Video, you found the Daffodil as well, All the best Bob
Thanks Bob 👍
Hi Sean thanks for taking us along on another great trip with you,as always the videos are informative and interesting, that last village..Hawkedon was really stunning..and Bess was sounding fine and she was flying at the end there!
Cheers
Mark :)
Thanks so much Mark. Sarah and I hope all is well ♥️
Another great video Sean.
It’s years since we went to Long Melford, really must visit again. Interesting you mention Kentwell Hall. We went the first year it opened to the public, before much of the renovation was complete. It was fascinating to see an historic house being brought back to full glory. Full credit to the owners for having the vision and determination to take on the task. Must see it again now!
Thank you so much 🙏 Kentwell is such a special place. Your visit must have been fascinating.
Thanks for an enjoyable and interesting drive, good driving roads and lovely villages.
Thanks so much Mark 🙏
What an interesting video. I live in Boxted just a mile or so from Hartest. Such a beautiful part of the country.
So glad you enjoyed this.
Hi Sean, another very nice drive out and lovely countryside. The Vitesse sounds very well and ruuing nicely, have you had to do anything much recently? Cheers Bob
Thanks so much Bob. The Mark 2 is fine... Tess on the other hand is due to see David at Anglian Triumph Services to have her brakes overhauled in a couple of weeks. So there will be more on that soon. 😀
That view of Hawkedon from your vantage point could almost be a medieval one with sheep grazing next to the church on common land, quite surreal, living on the Suffolk Norfolk border I am lucky to get both and the counties change back and forth depending on the bends in the road sometimes! Nice route though that 1066 The view from the passenger seat reminded me of when I was 16 in 1975 getting a lift home from work as I was a apprentice electrician back then and my mentor had a Vitesse J reg too, boy does it bring back memories, the wooden dash and having to grit my teeth being two of them 😮 Thanks Sean
Thanks Malcolm, I agree with you about Hawkedon it is such a special place. We're both so lucky to live where we do. I love your story about being driven in a 71 Vitesse 👍
@@seanhumfrey Yes, I will get down to where you were today would like to see it for myself as not been there yet, maybe that route from Oulton via Somerleyton to St Olaves might be worth a video as the church at Somerleyton has a round tower and thatched roof and the chocolate box village is unique plus so many bends! plus the pub on the broads at St Olaves at the end or back via Beccles.
