  • Join me as I take "Bess" my 1971 Triumph Vitesse Mark 2 for an adventure with the East Anglian Practical Classics club, as we get separated from the convoy, get lost and discover something magnificent from 1930s cinema. Check out Tom Horton's channel on UA-cam here: / @keyboardskillspro

It was too dangerous to stop the convoy for the broken down Mgb but we did wait in the next village for you Sean. Thanks to Mike Fenner in his Frogeye for assisting.

Thanks John, not the fault of the convoy... Just the loose nut at the wheel of the Vitesse! I wasn't paying attention 🤣

Fantastic day out with some great cars. The Wurlitzer sound was really good, I had a very cold breakfast meet at Battlesbridge Antiques Centre, (all of 8 miles each way from home) The Stag created a lot of discussion so wasn't to bad. Had a good drive round Dunmow and Finchingfield etc. All the best Bob

Thanks Bob, it sounds like you had a great day on Sunday. Stags always attract admirers and people who wished they owned them 👍

That’s true Sean either they had one sold it and now wised they hadn’t or they always want one etc but it’s always nice to talk to people regarding Triumphs in general. There were some TR’s there and a GT6 so not alone.
      Thanks for your reply. Bob

Looks like a very interesting outing Sean. I’m ashamed to say I didn’t know about the museum although I did know about the one at Cotton, close to where you started, which I believe is now closed and a number of the exhibits acquired by The Grange. I’ll definitely pay the museum a visit.
I had a similar over reading problem with the fuel gauge on the Herald but that was the voltage stabiliser, also made the coolant temperature read maximum. It was fun replacing the stabiliser located behind the speedo; didn’t realise Herald ownership would involve a work out!
Look forward to the next one.
    Peter

Thanks Peter. The museum is private and restricted to specific open days. But we'll worth the visit and a tribute to the passion of the people who run and maintain it. I just hope that there is a younger generation willing to take these magnificent instruments on when the time comes. The EAPC are brilliant at finding interesting and unusual places to visit.

Thanks for sharing. My favourite car there is, of course, your Vitesse, followed by the TR5, I liked the Jaguar and the TR4. even the Fiesta - they are surprisingly nice to drive, the DS is lovely. The Rovers are also gorgeous designs. I'm not a fan of Reliant because they closed down Bond. The Frogeye isn't very nice to drive unless you are under 5ft 6", I always thought that Jensen Healey to be a bit of an awkward design mix of curves and straight edges. The V8 MGB appeals

The TR5 is sublime. I was also very taken by the Probe as a modern classic. But I am drawn to the Gentlemans Club that is the P4 and I keep asking myself if one of my modern cars could be swapped for an old Rover. Time for a smoking jacket and a Dunhill Briar!

Leon is right in that, had i got it back on the r 0:21 0:21 oad again my Vitesse would have been better on the country roads. The 5 doesn't like going slowly and i had to give it an Italian tune up the next day.

I can't think of a better car in which to enjoy an Italian tune up John😀
