More information about Total War Shogun 2. Developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega in 2011, is a strategic video game set in 16th-century feudal Japan. It marks a return to the setting of the first Total War game, Shogun: Total War, after a series of titles set in Europe and the Middle East. Taking place in the aftermath of the Ōnin War during the Ashikaga shogunate, the game portrays a fragmented Japan with rival clans led by warlords vying for control. Players assume the role of a clan leader, tasked with dominating other factions and establishing rule over Japan. The standard edition features eight factions.
Shogun 2 combines turn-based strategy with real-time tactics, a hallmark of the Total War series. Players manage both the clan and the army, alternating between turn-based campaign management and real-time battles on the battlefield. In the campaign, players oversee settlement development, military production, economic growth, and technological advancement. The stylized campaign map is used to organize and move armies for battles with other factions. Beyond warfare, players can engage in diplomacy, political maneuvering, and utilize special agents for strategic advantages.
The game offers a choice of nine major clans inhabiting different provinces in Japan. Each clan has unique characteristics and advantages:
Chosokabe: Inhabit Tosa Province, excelling in recruiting superior bowmen and generating more income from farming.
Date: Control Iwate, known for recruiting superior no-dachi samurai and gaining a charging bonus for their units.
Hojo: Inhabit Izu and Sagami Provinces, renowned for castle building and siege expertise.
Mori: Inhabit Aki Province, with a strong naval tradition.
Oda: Settled in Owari Province, efficient commanders of ashigaru.
Shimazu: Inhabit Satsuma Province, recruiting superior katana-armed samurai with loyal generals.
Takeda: Preside over Kai Province, specializing in recruiting superior cavalry.
Tokugawa: Initially vassals of the Imagawa clan in Mikawa Province, rely on diplomatic relations and recruit better warrior ninja and netsuke.
Uesugi: Control Echigo Province, specialize in Buddhism, recruiting better monks and warrior monks, and generating more income from trading.
Additionally, three factions are available as downloadable content: Hattori (preorder bonus), Ikko-Ikki (religious rebels controlling Echizen and Kaga Provinces), and Ōtomo (control Bungo and Buzen Provinces, start under the Catholic faith, and can recruit superior firearm units, including Portuguese Elite Infantry known as terços).

Date was my first campaign for this game, and boy was it a steep learning curve back when. Really is difficult to build up in the north for all the reasons you outlined, and the first time the realm divide happened I was not at all prepared for it. Fun times, really made a fun narrative that stands out to my other total war playthroughs
We will see
Your gameplay and commentary are very good!
I appreciate it!
Welcome back and hell ya, I watch all 6 or 7 years ago in your shogun 2! Love shogun 2 and you’re the best!
With the Date, you need to take out the Honma ASAP, to get rid of their raising fleets and control their gold mine. That will give you a huge early-game advantage
i was going to say the same thing haha they get such a good navy
And then they land full stacks of Samurai in Ugo while you're down in Miyagi fighting Hojo! Lol
On the lisy
I recently did this campaign and how I got Sendai city early was that I just waited until the Hojo went and beat their army outside the city (but didn't assault the city) so then the next turn I swoopt in and took it in front of a weak Hojo army.
Nice
Nice done mate one of the coolest and easiest clans
Cool clan but easy to stuff up
27:05 winter attrition only hits troops at the end of a winter turn. So if you capture the province that turn you don't get any damage.
Ohh remembering
One of the best games 😊😊
Thanks
Well done!
Thanks
Ashigaru wall stance will tank your units stamina, just a tip. Change to it right before the enemy attack
Thanks for the tip! I appreciate the advice on using Ashigaru wall stance strategically. I'll keep that in mind and make sure to switch to it right before the enemy attack to better manage my units' stamina.
Have you done the morning sun campaign? Omg it adds new territories and factions and korea and its so much fun would totally recomend it for you
The shogun 2 will always sally out of the balance of power favors them. If not you can just siege them for a few turns and they’ll usually sally out
Sweet
Man, Shogun 2 is so brutal! I took some time off from it and came back to it recently. I usually play all my TW games on VH/VH but when I came back to Shogun I remembered how difficult it was so I put it down to hard and did a Date campaign. I was in ruin in less than 10-15 turns! My enemies were turning out multiple full stacks of Samurai when I could barely afford a full stack of ashigaru, not to mention no one wanted to trade and it was impossible to do construction because I was so broke. Man it was so frustrating.
Yeah, you can’t really focus on a trade economy when realm divide happens you need an internal one Farms market etc
my god the music in this game it's so hot.
i like date just purely becaue the daimyos helmet crest looks cool
Yes true
Just like gates, you can burn towers from outside the wall right?
hmm dunno
@@SimpzyTotalWar I tried it last night and it work.
I’m going to see this video before the next one they push me on number 4 of 10,000 now
Huh?
Why declare war with no movement? Just lets them know you're coming?
So they attack me on open field
