For someone who doesn't know anything about Mortal Kombat, he got Johnny Cage _just right_
I noticed that in the subtitles all the words that start with the letter 'c' now start with the letter 'k' and I at first I thought this was a typo and then I realized that this is "Mortal Kombat" so it all makes sense. I love this attention to detail.
You can tell Marisha has either played MK for a long time, or she has really done her research, cause this whole thing is a love letter to MK.
Matt has talked about her being ultra competitive at fighter games like MK and SF.

This is one of the best versions of Sindel in my eyes. She is a jaded villain, but it's not without understanding like in MK11. She's been a victim of abuse and resurrection so many times, it's understandable why she would stray from the path of the light. I particularly like how she punished Shao Khan and Shang Tsung. Shang becomes a victim of soul stealing, ironically. Shao being used as an object much like how he viewed Sindel. Marsha wrote her character so seamless. I kinda wish we get a version of this Sindel like this down the road.
the whole speech at 2:53:50 really hits different, as goofy as the "Sindel Century" bit was, this monologue truly makes it feel like she finally snapped, tired of being a victim, so she decided to turn the tables
Marisha's GMing was never bad, but holy shit she has gotten so good over the last couple years. Helps to live with one of the best to ever do it I'm sure, but she has her own flair and style that is so fun to watch. Hope she gets to run a longer form series of her own soon

I love how it started so serious... and then descended into face-licking madness! They all had such good intentions (Not Sam. Not Travis.), and then all falling into the absolute chaos of it all! All of this is so MK it's amazing!
A flawless victory of a one-shot. Marisha and the players slayed it.
It was especially cool that Noshir Dalal basically reprised the role of MK1 Rain for this one.
That as well as Travis being Raiden once more after being the Thunder God in MK Onslaught.
I believe he voices Thunder God Raiden in MK1 aswell.

The fact that Rain's played by his ACTUAL voice actor is the cherry on top of this already delicious, bloody sundae. It took me until he said his line from the trailer to realize it, however.

I have been a Critter since the beginning of C2... and I've seen crappy people hate on Marisha... but I've NEVER been so proud of her as seeing her GM this, especially the Fluffy scene. The way she rolled with that... so freaking proud.
Watching C1, I didn't like Marisha. Then I got to C2 and I realized that I disliked Keyleth (I would avoid her at work), and not Marisha, and my inability to separate them meant that she had to be one of the best roleplayers I've seen.
C2 era Critter too here and I have to admit ... I have no idea why Keyleth was hated. I recently checked C1 up until the end of the Conclave arc. She might be my favored CR character so far, she actually had a hero's journey: from weak to strong, from silly to wise, from impulsive to patient ... Beau was way more annoying and monotone and people loved her. Laudna is iconic but so far a bit overlooked(though I am a bit behind on C3 episodes). I honestly have no idea how people think sometimes.
@@themasterprocrastinator same, i got into crit role season 2 and binged all of season 1 and was confused why people didn't like keyleth or how marisha played keyleth. i mean i understand if people don't connect to her or find her honesty and awkwardness "cringe" but that doesn't explain the amount of hate.
i think there are very loud and entitled parts of the fandom that blew it out of proportion. i've been in many good and toxic fandoms, but never saw anything like the very directed hate to keyleth and marisha.
Been watching since C1 E3, from what you can gather from chat it was a mix of „oh, she is just there cause DM girlfriend“, „why the hell doesn‘t a fairly new player know the druid class in and out“ and „she hot! Me like! Oh, she not single?! Me hate with passion!“
Add to that that the rest of the cast was relatively to well known and she was kinda the odd duck (if wildshaped correctly)… it seems she got a lot of hate because people needed to hate SOMEBODY.

I just adore Marisha, and her creativity, flare, and style - I was so glad to be able to see it in action again as the DM! Contrary to some others, across most all the campaigns her characters have always been some of my favorites and meant the world to me. I finally got a photo with her at RCCC (long overdue) and I just appreciate her even more since then. What a fun and inspiring one shot!!
my new headcanon is that in one timeline, this whole party is just Sindel just processing the absolute batshit insanity that is the Mortal Kombat lore

I just realized that Noshir is the voice actor for Bode Akuma in "Star Wars: Jedi Survivor". I had the issue of trying to place where I have seen him before and it just hit me. Such a great voice actor.

What I'm getting from Marisha's (awesome amazing showstopping) cosplay is that Sindel has Laudna's color palette but inverted

As soon as i saw Noshir i was like YES!!!!!!!! He's one of my favorite Voice Actors. So excited to see him on Critical Role.
I love how Sindel is the empress in this timeline, but Kitana still has the Kahn title, also I knew Sam will be the best Johnny even before it started
Marisha is really getting the hang of running games, you can feel the Matt influence, but with her own style, she really threw herself into this role. Also really thankful as a headphone user that Marisha held back some on the banshee scream, i winced for a second as she started, campaign one almost blew my eardrums lol.
Absolutely. I don't particularly like the Honey Heist games (they're just not my speed), but damn is it impressive that she made a three-part cinematic universe out of it.
I have mixed feelings about Honey Heist. I feel like the brand identification actually hurt those sessions.
Marisha grew into her element as the trilogy leaned away from Exandia and Marisha was allowed to come into her own.
And a more minor nitpick was missing Honey Master and instead being branded Bear Master. Couldn't take BM seriously for obvious reasons.
of course all of the honey heist games are now lost to time because of one real asshole of a badger
I'd credit Marisha with a lot of the improvements to the sound in general since C1. Having experience and access to experienced people who are on top of all those factors (and it being pre-recorded) makes SUCH a difference, and CR is in such a different bracket now than they used to be in those beginning G&S days.
@@saeyyy to be fair in those days there wasn’t really anything like it, it kinda started the whole genre of actual-play content. But they definitely have continued to improve, unlike some other actual-play pioneers cough cough taz cough cough

Like an expert DM she took what Sam had been joking with all episode and rolled it into the original canon jonnycage to make Sam's move work and the action keep happening while possibly inadvertently acknowledging the cameo system baked into the game and the kombat/story here!

How fucking awesome! Prior to this I was unfamiliar with Noshir and I just so happen to be playing Horizon Forbidden West currently. I was like, “Is that fucking Kotallo?“ Turns out it is! He even happens to be my favorite NPC from that game, so far. What a fun episode!
I have never played MK, I don’t know anything about the lore or the characters. But this was a very enjoyable One Shot and Marisha’s energy helped make it stand out

We got such an amazing glimpse into Marisha being the best villain DM, I was floored! SO GOOD!

I freaking loved Kotallo in Horizon Forbidden West.
Noshir's portrayal of a newly disabled man in a society that focuses on physical prowess was incredible and moving and evocative.
And Kotallo was also a stone cold badass. Noshir's incredible voice was a huge part of that.
Loved Kotallo! Checkout Jedi Survivor, Noshir kills it in his role there as well!

This makes me so happy to see! I was just talking with a couple of coworkers the other day about how cool it'd be if Netherealm and Larian teamed up to make an RPG set in the Mortal Kombat universe. This kinda comes close.

It would be cool to see this system or a futher homebrew of it for the inter-campaign fight one shots. The drama cards can give great moments between different characters and sibce it works by objectives for 4 rounds all characters would last to the end of the fight.
