Hy, I literally need to thank you for this video for change oil in my cota ..my mechanic do a not good job with o ring inside and I had some pieces of plastic in the motor oil ...btw with your tutorial I do easily this!!Thank you too much!!!Have good day from Italy 👋
There’s a spring on the back of the oil filter that should be put in again. The manual states to apply a bit of grease on the filter at the engine side. No need to unscrew any parts from the cover. If you disconnect the two plugs (alternator, ignition pulse generator). you can take the cover to a desk and get it cleaned up nicely before putting on the new gasket.
Good instruction video. Only two remarks: Don't leave the engine cover dangling on the electric wires from the generator if you don't unplug the wires, hang it up with a piece of string or some wire. Also to be clear: @20:00 The dipstick shouldn't be screwed in when measuring the oil level. (it would be nice if you could pin this comment to the top, or mention it in the discription of the video)
Thanks for the helpful video, I saw on a video that you can file the filter, being careful to not get any metal shavings in the filter. A video on bleeding the clutch would help also.
Very helpful, thanks! I need to do mine (second hand - no manual!), so great to see some issues you encountered/solved. They're nicely engineered, but I'm baffled as to why the filter isn't more accessible. Oil/filter change is the life blood for a 4T - it should be as quick as possible. I can see people skipping the filter change... But not me, no no ;)
Hey wouldn’t it have been a good idea to change the gearbox oil at the same time? 🤔 if you move the pickup wire from the bottom on the rectifier before removing the cover you’ll be much less likely to rip the gasket. Congrats on a great purchase 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah it did cross my mind, but being essentially brand new AND mainly because I wanted to stick to the video title I just did the oil. Maybe next time a gear box oil change video ha ha 😬
VM DC no problem. Possibly, but doesn’t mention it in the step by step in the official manual (it mentions the sump/drain plug torque) but not those. Hope the vide helps!
Next time take a good flame against the copper ring till its red glowing let it cool down slowly and it will get soft and brand new to use a second time
Great video Done mine followed your video.Poor design on the filter my honda xr250r easy filter to change 2 bolts seperate cover job done honda could of done the same on the montessa.
Thank you very much, I am doing it on my own every 1500 km , intercalating oil change at 500, mine is a 4ride used for riding easy in the country.
Glad it helped

Yay! Glad it helped!
Fantastic video, really helpful for my first service on the 4rt
No problem
Little trick that I do, very gently with a pair of scissors trim round the top side of the filter, makes it drop in a treat!
Nice tip!

Thanks for the video. Laying the bike on its side for the oil fill was a great idea as well.
No problem hope it helps!
why
@@mike300406 The oil fill hole is super tiny and hard to get to. I use a syringe to fill it when not changing the filter.

Yeah saw that too, dont really fancy that, I mean its awkward, but actually possible with no filing.
Great vid, another problem people have is the skid plate being bent out of shape from hitting rocks. This is why they put an aftermarket one on.
Ah, makes sense! Will see how mine fares I guess!
good thinkin

Would be nice to see a video on how you clean your bike after a ride. Loving these!
Cheers dude! Yes will hopefully do a video covering that in the future.

gear box oil ? FUNNY HA HA
Superb video. Really appreciate your time.
No problem
Great vídeo. The first about montesa oil change! Thanks
Shouldn't all the crank case screws be torqued to 22 nm too?
VM DC no problem. Possibly, but doesn’t mention it in the step by step in the official manual (it mentions the sump/drain plug torque) but not those. Hope the vide helps!
No! I almost made that mistake and caused some damage. M6 bolts (left-hand crank case cover bolts) max torque 10 N meters.
Honda have nice finishes on their engines very nice job.👏👏🍻
They do!
Was there any torque wrench settings for the case cover? Thanks paul
Sorry, cannot remember sadly!
10Nm for the case cover screws and 22Nm for the oil drain screw.

Hi Great videos any chance you could do a gearbox oil change ??
Glad it helped. At some point I guess! Probably due soon!
Nicely done!
Cheers!
Too bad you did not show which side you put the new gasket back on. On the engine side or on the alternator cover side.
Gasket fitted to side shown on video. Engine side

that seems like an awful lot to go through to change the oil I think Honda could've came up with a better way to do it.
Yup!
thanks for video, can you do a video about change oil gearbox?
I don't think there's any need to add the oil like that any added benefit 1st start up maybe I don't see it
Saves using a funnel and / or pipe. Whilst sides off may as well poor in 😬
yaa I guess so
@@RealLifeGadgetReviews its pour,,,,,,,, maybe poor also after buying that mont, hahaha
Well explained
Cheers!
Pro tip.. saturate the oil filter with clean oil first.
True that!
