    Pretty cool stuff, brother.
I was interested in shortwave radio for a while, but decided against it because I already have two expensive hobbies.
    Be blessed 😎

I have mine on a long wire. I am so rural no cell coverage... i find things come in best in the middle of the night. Picking up noise is an issue. I have tuned off my power it really did not help on noise.... but i dont get anything local. I am east coast USA and pick up Romania and the BBC out of Africa. it seams to struggle with the UTC time stations from here in the US and Canada. I use head phones but if the volume is over 40 it gets some noise. Fm it has less issues.. but i still hear noise at higher volumes. Its good for the cost. I dont know anyone with a icom or kenwood to see how good they are. I still think my old DX 440 was better. But it quit working. Some days my PC sdr seams to work better on HF. But the computer does not work when the power goes out. But Maybe software updates will make it better.

@@Wrang15 I have tesame problems over here, anyway, its not a kenwood or Icom receiver. I think that we only can receive the very strong stations transmitting with high power. Mention that you always having problems receiving local stations on HF, it has to do with the radiowaves reflecting to the stratosphere, even if you receiving with a expensive receiver. You can hear them better when conditions are bad. I also mention that the red and green dots are not correct to the bands conditions. By daylight I have a green dot on 40 meter band, but those band is actually close and open at nights. Anyway, its a not expensive receiver to play with.

@PJMP-Channel yes for the price and easy of set up it works good. I still wonder how good a Icom or kenwood is for the price. I can heat my house for 2 to 3 years for the cost of one of those radios. Never mind I have no local place to repair one if ever quits. Where I can just get another ATS shipped out or something similar.

@@Wrang15 there are cheaper HF receivers on the market or you can buy a second hand. Many years ago I working with the Kenwood R5000, long wire antennas, decoders, CB radios ec. but it takes a lot of money. Now I'm happy living on a apartment, in that case I don't have the possibility to working with longwires en expensive equipment😅anymore. To be serious with HF receiving or ham radio its a kind of drug, always buying new and better equipment is not good. Now I'm a serious metal detectorist, listen on a scanner to airplanes and making random videos, oa playing a bit with the ats25. That's good enough for me. Take care buddy, nice talking to you, greets from Belgium.

Hey Pat - I have that exact setup. Unboxed but have not yet begun the setup, but will start when I return to Maryland from Wyoming. I like watching you use it. Maybe consider doing one of these vids at night? Is the reception different in the field vs your home?

@@PiperDave2023 When I use it indoors or near where we live, I have a significant amount of interference from fluorescent lights, wireless systems such as wireless weather stations, etc. Since it is a small radio with only a chip that contains everything to make the radio work. You cannot compare such a device with professional receivers such as Kenwood, Icom. Anyway, it works considerably well and via Google you will find plenty of frequencies that are interesting to listen to. The antenna works remarkably well for its size and the frequency range it covers. Take a look at the volmet HF stations via Google, there is still plenty of military communication to listen to when the weather conditions are good. Good luck with the installation.
