Bump idle to 1000 rpm n walk away. Let it warm up to normal operating temps n normal oil press. Do not drive it cold. You do when it is a considered a bus. It is class b. Air brakes probably, too. Age would depend on where you are. In US you may be able to get CDL at 18, but you need to be 21 to drive across state lines. As a motorhome or other vehicle, CDL would depend on what the law says.

No CDL needed, just have to switch the reg. from bus to RV...
The Cummins ISB engine in the Gilligs have high oil pressure too
I had a 1984 nissan SD22 Diesel that had 1/4 tank of diesel for 10 years. Started it every once in awhile. The age of the diesel had no effect on it.
I currently have a 99 international that was last licensed in 2008, and fuel is older than that as we barely ran it. Fires right up, has some problems but i dont think its really related to the fuel. Gonna be using the truck soon (hopefully).
When you first started just let it idle on its own give it time to warm up by itself it'll get warm you got to let it run at least 5 6 minutes don't just move it the bus is cold
My school district still got those buses😂
when the bus started it, sounded like music
DUN DUN DUN DUN DU DU DU DE DUN DUN DUN
quite a nice steal you got there, but it's a shame that some buses our school district still runs daily are in worse shape
all buses smoke a bit, all the buses i have driven have smoked til they warmed up more on startup
I bought a $300 1986 Thomas built S1700 International bus 6.9 idi 545 allison auto soon to get a dt466 with some fuel and a manual behind it with a diff locker, extendable sides, solar powered, rasied roof ect everything, a hottub/shower/bath combo sorta thing with a full kitchen and captain chairs n everything.
Sounds like a beast
Don’t you need a commercial license to drive a big truck like that? If so, how old do you have to be?
You do when it is a considered a bus. It is class b. Air brakes probably, too. Age would depend on where you are. In US you may be able to get CDL at 18, but you need to be 21 to drive across state lines. As a motorhome or other vehicle, CDL would depend on what the law says.
@@4jp21 is the minimum age to drive a school bus as a bus driver because of laws
If the smokes is white it means that the Oil is getting mixed with coolant so your head gasket is bad :)
Supra_ 9ower coolant and oil smoke is bluish tho, have you never seen an old diesel start? They smoke
This type of engine needs to maintan at least 180 degree the smoke is unburnt fuel,in very cold weather..I drove these units in toronto canada..they don't operate good intown type driving, but highway they run great..
nice work well done a+ Chase William
Fighting for the back seats
samsung 21126 🥊,back seat,lol
Those were pretty good buses
❤❤❤❤❤
Does anybody else see the "free candy" thing on the outside of the bus
I think he mentioned that it was put there by his friends, may have been both of them.
@@morganrussman that's hilarious
@@JohnDoe-fr1id Oh? How? :O
@@morganrussman "free candy" on an old school bus....you really don't get it?
@@JohnDoe-fr1id A sex joke?
Ive been looking for a bus cheap like that . where would you recommend to start looking. For used buses
I look at midwest transit. Depending on where you live, it is cheap and covenient!
what happened to your trip ? no videos! :(
Lol there was a Wrightbus Gemini 1 from 2002 on eBay and that was £9,000
Wow you're smart to be at 17 years old you sound like a 25 old adult to me.. Buy some prolong engine lubricant to add to oil and also some prolong transmission lubricant one bottle is all it take's after each oil change, also with lucas diesel additive's to clean your fuel injector's.And I promise you that you'll never have to overhaul that diesel engine for year's to get it rebuilt. Find all of your product's at autozone or at napa auto ;part's
Can you drive this on a car licence? I’m British. You need a special licence here.
1300$?! You cant even buy the cummins motor for that in a decent working order....
1)Go to govdeals.com 2) look for a old Cummins diesel thats in rough cosmetic shape 3) keep bidding until you win one below 1300.
Great video
That's cool, where did you purchase this bus?
LeeRoy Dundlehay It was actually from a tow truck driver that was going to take it and the others to a scrap yard. I just happened to see it on my way home from work.
Do you happen to know what bus company it came from? I can tell it was from Mass or CT
Dyou happen to have an extra hatch still? all 4 strut mounts are cracked on mine
You should have bought a new door latch with lock instead of they way you have it. That way it looks better cosmetically
can the spike spider fit on a dually truck
When Thomas Built could build a bus.
I prefer the FS65 over the Saf-T-Liner C2.
NICE 👍
Damn you got quite a project you got there. Where do you work in order to buy a truck and bus 🤨
You can work anywhere to buy a bus and his dad probably gave him a truck
Wow what a steal. So cheap of a bus. 😁
That seems like a lot of oil for a 5.9 liter diesel....i think you said 16 quarts or something close to that. Anybody know for sure how much oil that thing takes. Other than that nice score. Paint it fluorescent green, yellow, pink, and orange
It takes 18q I have done an oil change and it is perfect on the dipstick. I also have all of the service records and spoke to the mechanic. Diesel engines usually take a lot of oil. My pickup truck with the 5.9 cummins takes 11q so this one probaly has a bigger pan. Thanks for watching!
2002 Thomas body on freightliner chassis
Good job
Do you need a cdL for a bus?
Bobby Cabbagestalk only if your driving for a school
MERICA' CARS ok
You got your CDL
john hershey yeah good question 🤔
Drive that thing to school all the teachers will think you just hyjacked the bus bus driver😂
I actually did drive it to school and I only lasted am hour before I was called down to the office! The whole school was talking about it. It was crazy
What does the "Engine Check" do?
What do you think it does? Ejects everyone out of their seats? 😂
adjust the valves its fine fuel too
Does it have an emergency exit buzzer?
Yes it does. It comes on when the bus is running and one of the exits are opened. I pulled the fuse for it though because it was annoying.
@@chasewilliam1902 ok.
Do u need a bus license to drive it or just a driver's license
need a bus cdl because it is a high occupancy vehicle according to the vin number.
Just a regular drivers license. The title was changed to motorhome and the plates are too.
Awesomeness 👌
@@chasewilliam1902 until you come to the midwest trust me from experiance Nebraska iowa Illinois have a different set of rules regarding a bus no matter the title ill is the worst about rules a lot of.people try to avoid that state because they are bears in that state just a heads up stay away from that state
only has a little over a hundred thousand miles on it well I live you never find them under 200,000
